Karsa: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat is a peer-reviewed national journal dedicated to the dissemination of scholarly works in the field of community service and engagement. The journal aims to provide a scientific platform for academics, researchers, and practitioners to publish the results of community-based activities that apply knowledge, research findings, and innovations for the empowerment and development of society. The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, reports and studies on community empowerment, community development programs, technology and knowledge transfer to society, social innovation, education and training for communities, health and environmental services, and other forms of applied community service across multidisciplinary fields. Abstract

This Community Service Program aims to develop a character-based thematic English module and assessment to enhance the quality of English learning at SD Al Hikmah Semarang. The subjects involved in this program include English teachers and Grade 6 students who participated in the implementation and evaluation stages. The program employed several steps: needs analysis, module and assessment design, expert validation, revision, and limited classroom implementation. Qualitative data were collected through observations, interviews, and field notes. The results indicate that the developed thematic module is contextually relevant, engaging for students, and effective in supporting more communicative and meaningful English learning. The character-based assessment also enables teachers to monitor students’ behavioral development and language skills more systematically. Overall, this program concludes that the character-based thematic module and assessment are feasible to be used as supporting learning materials in primary school English education.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan media sosial di kalangan mahasiswa saat ini sangat tinggi, namun tidak diimbangi dengan pemahaman etika digital yang memadai. Banyaknya kasus perundungan siber, penyebaran hoaks, dan pelanggaran UU ITE menunjukkan urgensi penguatan literasi digital. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membangun kesadaran kritis dan membekali mahasiswa dengan etika bermedia sosial yang sehat. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan partisipatif aktif melalui penyuluhan interaktif, yang meliputi ceramah komunikatif, diskusi interaktif, serta bedah kasus riil mengenai rekam jejak digital dan aspek hukum siber. Sasaran kegiatan ini adalah 120 mahasiswa di lingkungan universitas. Evaluasi keberhasilan program diukur menggunakan instrumen pre-test dan post-test yang mencakup empat pilar literasi digital. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman peserta yang sangat signifikan. Nilai rata-rata akumulatif peserta melonjak sebesar 31,65%, dari nilai awal (pre-test) 55,35% menjadi 87,0% pada evaluasi akhir (post-test). Peningkatan tertinggi terjadi pada pilar keamanan digital (digital safety) dan etika digital (digital ethics). Sebagai keberlanjutan program, dibentuk gerakan Cyber-Ambassador sebagai pelopor kampanye medsos sehat di kampus. Kesimpulannya, penyuluhan ini efektif dalam mereformasi pola pikir mahasiswa menjadi pengguna ruang siber yang bijak, kritis, dan bertanggung jawab.

Abstract

Strengthening the character of vocational school youth to become strong and great teenagers is a youth seminar held at MITRA TANI Vocational School, Panyabungan. This seminar aims to empower youth to develop individuals with strong morals, good ethics, and superior personalities, thus becoming responsible, independent, and virtuous citizens. Social phenomena frequently occurring among adolescents, such as juvenile delinquency, brawls, alcohol and drug parties, promiscuity leading to promiscuity, and criminal acts such as robbery, murder, and many more, reflect youth who are not great and strong, and this has also become a concern for parents and the community. The seminar was attended by 50 vocational school students, consisting of members of the MITRA TANI Vocational School Student Council (OSIS), with speakers from universities and the police. With a one-day seminar, this activity was packaged using a service learning method, students were motivated to understand the meaning of the material presented by relating it to the context of everyday life. Specifically, on the occurrence of the phenomenon of adolescent cases and the causes and solutions provided, and provided an opportunity for students to ask questions and be answered by the speaker. The seminar on strengthening adolescents that was carried out resulted in vocational high school students realizing the importance of being a teenager with character. In addition, students also instilled in themselves the ability to be able to become great and strong teenagers. The contribution of this article provides knowledge about  trengthening the character of great and strong teenagers and can be used as a reference for deepening community service activities related to adolescent character. Abstract

Kegiatan kewirausahaan digital di kalangan siswa semakin berkembang seiring dengan kemajuan teknologi, namun belum diimbangi dengan pemahaman yang memadai terkait hukum pidana. Hal ini berpotensi menimbulkan pelanggaran hukum dalam praktik bisnis online. Tujuan kegiatan ini untuk membangun kesadaran hukum pidana dalam aktivitas kewirausahaan siswa SMK Medan Area di era digital. Metode yang digunakan meliputi tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Tahap persiapan dilakukan melalui observasi dan analisis kebutuhan, yang menunjukkan rendahnya literasi hukum siswa. Tahap pelaksanaan dilakukan melalui sosialisasi, diskusi interaktif, dan studi kasus. Tahap evaluasi menggunakan pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur peningkatan pemahaman siswa. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam literasi hukum pidana siswa, yang ditandai dengan kenaikan skor rata-rata sebesar 30 poin. Selain itu, terjadi perubahan sikap siswa menjadi lebih sadar akan pentingnya aspek hukum dalam kewirausahaan digital. Meskipun demikian, masih diperlukan tindak lanjut untuk memperkuat pemahaman sebagian siswa. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini berkontribusi dalam membentuk generasi muda yang sadar hukum dan bertanggung jawab dalam menjalankan usaha di era digital.

Abstract

Pendidikan kejuruan tidak hanya menekankan keterampilan teknis, tetapi juga etika profesi sebagai bekal memasuki dunia kerja. Permasalahan yang ditemukan adalah rendahnya pemahaman siswa terhadap etika profesi, sikap profesional, dan integritas. Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesiapan kerja siswa melalui edukasi etika profesi. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi pemaparan materi, diskusi kelompok, studi kasus, simulasi kerja, serta evaluasi melalui pretest dan posttest. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata pemahaman dari 58,2% menjadi 85,2% (naik 27%), dengan peningkatan pada konsep etika (+28%), sikap profesional (+26%), integritas (+27%), tanggung jawab kerja (+26%), dan penerapan etika (+28%). Kesimpulannya, kegiatan ini efektif dalam membentuk siswa yang profesional dan berintegritas melalui penguatan aspek kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik

Abstract

Transformasi digital perpajakan melalui Core Tax Administration System (CTAS) menuntut perusahaan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesiapan sumber daya manusia dalam pengelolaan administrasi perpajakan berbasis digital. Namun, pegawai PT. Mitra Sejati Rezeki masih memiliki keterbatasan pemahaman terkait penggunaan Coretax DJP dan integrasinya dengan akuntansi perpajakan perusahaan. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan literasi dan kemampuan pegawai dalam memanfaatkan Core Tax System. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan melalui tahap observasi, wawancara, sosialisasi, simulasi penggunaan aplikasi, diskusi, dan evaluasi pre-test serta post-test. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta dari 51,8% menjadi 86,7% atau meningkat sebesar 34,9%. Peningkatan tertinggi terdapat pada pemahaman tata cara penggunaan Coretax DJP sebesar 37%. Kegiatan ini berhasil meningkatkan kesiapan perusahaan dalam mendukung administrasi dan akuntansi perpajakan digital yang lebih efektif, akurat, dan efisien.

Abstract

The increasing amount of plastic waste is an environmental challenge that requires sustainable management because it can cause pollution and disrupt the balance of the ecosystem. One type of plastic waste commonly found in the environment is plastic bottle caps, which are generally not optimally utilized. This article aims to describe the implementation of a program to utilize plastic bottle cap waste through Do It Yourself (DIY Crafting) activities as an effort to increase environmental awareness. The program implementation method includes the stages of collecting and sorting plastic bottle caps, providing education on waste management based on the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (3R), craft-making training, and evaluation of the results of the activity. The results of the implementation show that plastic bottle cap waste can be processed into various craft products that have functional and aesthetic value, such as wall decorations, photo frames, key chains, and pencil cases. In addition to contributing to reducing the volume of plastic waste, this activity also increases participants' knowledge, creativity, skills, and awareness of the importance of responsible environmental management. This program also has a social impact by increasing community participation and has the potential to provide economic value through the development of recycled-based craft products. Thus, the utilization of plastic bottle caps through DIY Crafting activities is an effective alternative in supporting waste management, community empowerment, and sustainable environmental conservation.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Domestic violence (DV) remains a persistent social and legal issue in Mandailing Natal Regency, Indonesia, where limited legal literacy and socio-cultural perceptions often hinder prevention efforts and discourage victims from seeking assistance. This community service program aimed to enhance community legal literacy, strengthen Islamic da'wah values in preventing domestic violence, and develop a sustainable community-based prevention mechanism in Panyabungan District. The program adopted a participatory approach through legal education sessions, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), case-based learning, and community mentoring involving 85 participants, including housewives, religious leaders, community leaders, village officials, and young women. Program effectiveness was evaluated using pre- and post-intervention assessments, participant observations, and discussion outcomes. The results indicated a 73% increase in participants' understanding of Law No. 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence, a 68% improvement in their ability to identify early indicators of domestic violence, and the successful establishment of a Community-Based Domestic Violence Prevention Task Force. The integration of legal education with Islamic da'wah values also fostered a shift in community perceptions, recognizing domestic violence not merely as a private family matter but as a public social issue requiring collective responsibility and intervention. This integrated legal–religious empowerment model demonstrates the potential for strengthening community participation, improving legal awareness, and establishing sustainable domestic violence prevention mechanisms in rural communities.

Abstract

This Community Service (PKM) activity aimed to enhance public understanding of Fiqh of Ramadan as an integral part of Islamic law and to improve the quality of worship through educational outreach delivered online via the Zoom Meeting platform. The PKM employed the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method with an educational-participatory approach that actively involved participants throughout all stages of the program, including needs assessment, interactive educational sessions, discussion and question-and-answer activities, and evaluation of participants' understanding through Google Forms-based pretests and posttests. The educational media utilized included visual presentations, infographics, and short videos explaining various aspects of Ramadan fiqh, such as fasting regulations, recommended acts of worship, zakat al-fitr, and contemporary fiqh issues frequently encountered by the community. The program was attended by 65 participants from diverse age groups and professional backgrounds. The evaluation results indicated a significant improvement in participants' average understanding scores, increasing from 64.3 in the pretest to 88.7 in the posttest. In addition to cognitive improvement, participants demonstrated a high level of engagement during the discussion sessions, as reflected in their enhanced ability to identify and resolve Ramadan fiqh issues based on authentic sources of Islamic law. The findings demonstrate that educational outreach through Zoom-based learning media is an effective alternative for implementing community service programs, as it can reach participants regardless of geographical limitations, foster interactive learning, and strengthen public religious literacy. Therefore, this online educational outreach model is recommended as an adaptive community engagement strategy that aligns with advances in information technology while supporting the improvement of the quality of worship within the community.
