Indonesian Journal of STEM Education (IJSE) adalah wadah publikasi bagi mahasiswa, guru, dosen, praktisi maupun peneliti pada bidang Science, Technology, Engineering dan Math (STEM) Education. IJSE menerima tulisan dalam bentuk artikel hasil penelitian maupun artikel review tentang isu terkini yang berkaitan dengan: Pendidikan Sains, Pendidikan Fisika, Pendidikan Kimia, Pendidikan Biologi, Pendidikan Vokasi, Pendidikan Matematika, Teknologi Pendidikan, dan bidang lain yang terkait STEM Education. Setiap penulis wajib melakukan register dan mengirim artikel melalui OJS jurnal. Setiap artikel yang masuk akan direview oleh tim reviewer IJSE. Semua artikel yang diterima akan dipublikasikan dan tersedia secara bebas (open access) untuk dibaca dan diunduh oleh semua pembaca dibawah lisensi Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kemampuan berpikir abstrak dan kesiapan belajar terhadap prestasi belajar matematika siswa di SMPN 5 Mataram tahun pelajaran 2017/2018 dengan teknik pengambilan data menggunakan soal dan angket. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMPN 5 Mataram sedangkan sampelnya adalah 90 siswa yang diambil 10 siswa pada masing-masing kelas. Variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah kemampuan berpikir abstrak dan kesiapan belajar matematika dan variabel terikatnya adalah prestasi belajar matematika siswa. Dalam penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa perhitungan korelasi kemampuan berpikir abstrak terhadap prestasi belajar matematika sebesar 0.223 dengan persamaan regresi sedangkan kesiapan belajar terhadap prestasi belajar matematika korelasinya sebesar 0,32 dengan persamaan regresi Selanjutnya, diperoleh juga hasil penelitian yang menunjukan bahwa kemampuan berpikir abstrak dan kesiapan belajar memberikan kontribusisebesar 94,9 % sedangkan 5,1 % dijelaskan oleh variabel lainnya dengan persamaan regresi yakni .

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan aktivitas dan prestasi belajar siswa kelas VIII-D SMPN 3 Lingsar tahun pelajaran 2016/2017 pada pembelajaran matematika materi lingkaran dengan menerapkan model Discovery Learning. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Pelaksanaan masing-masing siklus terdiri dari 2 pertemuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan aktivitas belajar siswa dari tiap siklus dengan skor aktivitas siswa pada siklus I pertemuan 1 adalah 7,66 dengan kategori cukup aktif dan pertemuan 2 adalah 9,97 dengan kategori cukup aktif. Kemudian skor aktivitas siswa pada siklus II pertemuan 1 adalah 12,98 dan pertemuan 2 adalah 13,31 dengan ketegori aktif. Sedangkan prestasi belajar siswa tiap siklus masing-masing 73,90 dan 79,37 dengan persentase ketuntasan klasikal masing-masing 71,87% dan 87,5%. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model Discovery Learning pada materi lingkaran dapat meningkatkan aktivitas dan prestasi belajar siswa kelas VIII-D SMPN 3 Lingsar Tahun Pelajaran 2016/2017.

Abstract

The current education system focuses on 21st-century learning. 21st-century learning is a system of educational renewal movements, especially in the fields of science, mathematics and technology. Educators believe that using learning that integrates technology has the opportunity to increase student interest in education. The hope, the system can be implemented in student learning processes for areas that are categorized as advanced, developing or lagging. This research was conducted at one school in Sumbawa District, West Nusa Tenggara. This research explores the impact of blended learning by using the STEM education approach to increase student interest in physics in high school. This research is qualitative research with a pretest-posttest control group design. The experimental group was taught with blended learning using the STEM education approach. The control group was prepared with conventional learning. The covariate in this study was initial knowledge. The dependent variable is learning interest which is measured using the ARCS model questionnaire. The statistical analysis used was Anacova, with a margin of error of 0.05. This research found that blended learning with STEM education approach is better in terms of increasing student interest in learning than conventional learning. The contribution in this research lies in the unique framework that is in the process of providing knowledge using blended learning integrated STEM education approaches for high school physics lessons.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the motivation to learn students S1 Biology Education FKIP University Samawa Sumbawa Besar, to know the factors that influence the motivation to learn students S1 Biology Education FKIP University Samawa Sumbawa Besar. This type of research is research on Mixed Methods Research Design. Student of Biology Education FKIP Samawa University is the population in this research while the research samples are taken throughout the students at every level which amounted to 27 students. Data collection techniques are done by questionnaire method in the form of learning Motivation questionnaire and interview technique. The data analysis used during the study was descriptive, percentage technique. Based on the results of the study showed that the motivation results learn S1 Students Biology Education FKIP University Samawa Sumbawa Besar amounted to 79.66% with a high category. Factors influencing the motivation to learn students S1 Biology Education FKIP University Samawa Sumbawa Besar is the motivation to learn intrinsic students who are courses taken/selected by students, a strong desire to continue education to a higher level. Factors that affect the motivation to learn an extrinsic student is a way lecturers teach in front of the class, the number of the semester credit system on each course, the characteristics of courses, the use of models, media and materials, and adequate facilities and infrastructure.

Abstract

The capability of the nursing student to apply hand hygiene in COVID-19 prevention is important. Online learning is a solution to the effective learning method if face to face learning is not being done. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of online learning about hand hygiene application as COVID-19 prevention to improve cognitive and affective abilities in Nursing students. This is a pre-Experimental design with one group pre-posttest involved 37 students. The study was conducted in April 2020 by providing health education with handouts, modules, and video hand hygiene according to the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines. The intervention carried out three days through google classroom. Pre and post-intervention measurements were taken to assess respondents' cognitive and affective abilities with a questionnaire. The statistical analysis used for cognitive and affective abilities was the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The result of the study found that there were no significant changes in respondents' cognitive ability with P-Value 1.000 (P> 0.05) and affective ability P-Value 0.165 (P> 0.05) for pre and post hand hygiene online learning using google classroom. Further studies are needed to use other methods and innovative learning media to improve students' abilities in the application of hand hygiene.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of guided discovery learning models assisted by PhET simulations on the mastery of physics concepts and students' problem-solving abilities. This quasi-experimental study uses a nonequivalent multiple group design. This study population was all grade X students in one of the high schools in Narmada, West Lombok. Two sample classes were treated with guided discovery learning models. One class was assisted by PhET simulation media while the other class was not assisted by PhET simulation media. Concept mastery data were obtained using multiple-choice tests, while problem-solving ability data was obtained using essay tests. The results showed that the mastery of concepts and problem-solving abilities of students who learned PhET-assisted simulation were higher than other classes. The research hypothesis was tested using the MANOVA test with a significance level of 5%. It concluded that there was an influence of the guided discovery learning model assisted by PhET simulations on the mastery of physics concepts and students' problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

The learning management system is one of the inventions in information technology that is incorporated into education. A Learning management system (LMS) is an important solution to tracking and addressing the online learning needs of the students in the social distancing period. The ultimate goal of this research is to produce LMS devices on Mechanics material to improve mastery of concepts and creativity. In this article students’ responses or perceptions will be addressed after being handled with LMS devices in the process of learning. This study involves research and development using 4D models which include define, design, develop and disseminate. The results of this study are the results of the developmental testing phase. The instrument used was in the form of student response questionnaire in Likert scale. Students give positive responses to the use of LMS devices. Student responses are at intervals of 81% to 100%, with a very good category. Learning process can work well. Students can easily access learning resources to do exercises to improve learning outcomes. The LMS devices developed was effectively used during learning and became one of the innovative learning in the social distancing pandemic COVID-19 period.

Abstract

Salah satu dampak pandemi Covid-19 yang terjadi saat ini adalah pembelajaran berlangsung secara online. Perubahan cara belajar ini menjadi perhatian ditengah kesiapan yang belum begitu maksimal. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengevaluasi kegiatan pembelajaran online fisika SMA yang telah berlangsung. Sampel yang digunakan adalah pendidik fisika SMA di Kota Mataram. Data yang didapatkan berupa hasil observasi, wawancara, dan studi literatur. Berdasarkan hasil yang didapatkan bahwa pelaksanaan pembelajaran secara online menemui beberapa hambatan. Hambatan ini berusaha diminimalisir oleh pendidik namun belum cukup efektif dalam mencapai hasil pembelajaran yang diinginkan. Ketercapaian hasil belajar yang maksimal didapatkan hanya pada ranah kognitif. Sementara itu, untuk ranah afektif sangat sulit untuk dikembangkan terlebih lagi ranah psikomotor. Solusi yang dapat digunakan untuk meminimalisir kendala ini diantaranya pemilihan model, metode dan pendekatan yang tepat, sehingga kondisi yang terjadi dilapangan dapat terkontrol dengan baik. Sementara itu penerapan berbagai media berbantuan teknologi sangat berperan aktif dalam membantu meningkatkan kemampuan afektif dan psikomotor peserta didik. Lab virtual menjadi salah satu solusi sederhana dalam meningkatkan kemampuan afektif dan psikomotor peserta didik. Fitur yang mudah diakses pada Phet Simulation menjadi contoh teknologi yang dapat membantu peserta didik untuk melakukan percobaan atau investigasi. Selain itu aplikasi android juga menjadi solusi yang dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran. Kelebihannya adalah dapat membantu peserta didik dalam belajar tanpa harus terhubung internet, akses lebih mudah. Banyak hal yang dapat dikembangkan baik itu demonstrasi, simulasi, animasi hingga praktikum didalamnya. Penggunaan model, metode dan pendekatan jika digabungkan dengan teknologi/media akan memberikan kesan menarik dan mampu membantu meningkatkan kemampuan peserta didik.

Abstract

Achievement motivation is part of the affective domain which also determines learning success. Motivation is an incentive for individuals to do better and tends to assess themselves to measure the progress that has been achieved. Researchers intend to conduct development research to produce appropriate achievement motivation instruments. So that it can be used as an instrument for evaluating achievement motivation in students. This research is a research and development (R&D) with 4D model namely Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate. In this study, only the develop phase was carried out, namely expert validation and limited trials. The instrument developed was a questionnaire with 4 Likert scales. The sample used was Physics Education students at FKIP Mataram University. From the results of the study note that as many as 74% of students who have high motivation, and as many as 11% of students who have moderate motivation. For the results of the feasibility analysis, achievement motivation was obtained from the results of the validator assessment. Based on the validator's evaluation, the achievement motivation questionnaire has an average eligibility of all aspects of 3.37 with a very good category and a content validation value of 0.85 with a valid category. So it can be concluded if the achievement motivation evaluation instrument is appropriate to be used in the assessment of achievement motivation in students.

Abstract

The ability to solved problems is an important element in learning mathematics. But in reality at SMPN 13 Mataram this ability still low with a percentage of 70% of students having low problem solving abilities. The reason is teachers tend use same learning methods and students also not know how to optimize their own potential in learning. One way to make learning mathematics effective is by knowing learning styles used by students. This study aims to describe the problem-solving abilities claass VIII at SMPN 13 Mataram based on learning styles. The type of research used is qualitative research with research instruments namely problem solving ability tests, learning style questionnaires and interviews. The results obtained from 28 students were students with 12 students in the visual style category, 15 auditory students and 1 student with a kinetic learning style. The conclusion from the research results is that from the four stages of problem solving based on the theory of polya. , The visual learning style is able to complete the four stages very well. Auditory learning styles can only complete the 3 stages well and do not do the re-checking stage. In the kinetic learning style, it can only solve one problem and does not carry out the rechecking stage. The main difference between these three learning styles is the accuracy in problem processing. Namun kenyataannya di SMPN 13 Mataram kemampuan tersebut masih rendah dengan persentase 70% siswa memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang rendah. Salah satu cara mengoptimalkan pembelajaran matematika dengan mengetahui gaya belajar yang digunakan siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah di SMPN 13 Mataram kelas VIII ditinjau dari gaya belajar. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian kualitatif dengan instrumen penelitian yaitu tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah, angket gaya belajar dan wawancara. Hasil yang didapatkan dari 28 siswa terdapat siswa dengan 12 siswa kategori gaya visual, 15 siswa auditori dan 1 siswa dengan gaya belajar kinetik. Kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian yaitu dari empat tahapan pemecahan masalah berdasarkan teori polya, gaya belajar visual mampu menyelesaikan empat tahapan dengan sangat baik. Gaya belajar auditori hanya dapat menyelesaikan 3 tahapan dengan baik dan tidak melakukan tahapan memeriksa kembali. Pada gaya belajar kinetik hanya dapat menyelesaikan satu masalah dan tidak melakukan tahapan memeriksa kembali. Perbedaan utama dari ketiga gaya belajar ini yaitu ketelitian pada pengerjaan soal.
