Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of availability of teaching materials that support project-based learning at the elementary school level. The purpose of this study is to describe the process of developing Teaching Materials Based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) which is designed to improve the creative, critical, and learning outcomes of grade IV elementary school students in science subjects. The method used is Research and Development with the Borg & Gall development model. The research was conducted at SDN 2 Cangkreplor with the subject of grade IV students. Data on the validity of teaching materials were obtained through interviews, observations, and simulations, while practicality data was collected using observation sheets and interviews with classroom teachers. The effectiveness of teaching materials is measured from learning activities and student learning outcomes. The results of the validity test show that the teaching materials are considered "very valid" by expert validators and practitioners. Data analysis is carried out in an inductive-qualitative manner with a focus on meaning rather than generalization. The results of the study show that PBL-based teaching materials that are integrated with the inquiry method for grade IV elementary school students are proven to be valid, practical, and effective.

Abstract

Discovery learning is a learner-centered discovery learning model. This model involves critical, logical, and systematic thinking skills. Discovery Learning is rightly applied to high grades, especially grade 5. The Discovery Learning model is also effectively used in all lessons. However, in science lessons this model will be more effective if applied properly. Because this model is based on discovery which is closely related to science lessons, which do a lot of experiments and observations. The Discovery Learning model provides opportunities for students to explore themselves and their environment. This opportunity can develop their behavior and potential. Students also gain new skills, experiences, and understandings. In addition, the teacher as an educator is tasked with only assisting the process of running this model. The teacher only gives advice and motivation to do the Discovery Learning model. This model aims to improve the thinking ability of students to become more active and confident in the learning process in the classroom and outside the classroom.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Science, Environment, Technology, and Society (SETS) model in improving the quality of science learning. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method with a case study design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed thematically. The results showed that science learning using the SETS model has not been optimally integrated, especially in connecting aspects of science, environment, technology, and society. However, the application of the SETS model following its principles successfully improved students’ understanding of the material. Students became more active, creative, and capable of critical thinking by linking events to SETS elements. Furthermore, this model increased students’ learning interest through interactive activities, differing from traditional lecture methods. Although the results demonstrated positive impacts, implementing the SETS model requires further optimization to achieve full integration between its elements. This study concludes that the SETS model holds significant potential in enhancing the quality of science learning in elementary schools, particularly in terms of material comprehension, critical thinking skills, and students’ learning interest.

Abstract

Natural Science (IPA) not only studies scientific concepts but also processes and the development of scientific attitudes. However, in reality, science learning is often teacher-centered, which hinders students' development of knowledge and thinking skills. This study aims to examine the effect of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model on concept mastery and creative thinking skills of students in the topic of the water cycle in 5th-grade students at SD Negeri Cangkreplor 1. The research uses a descriptive approach with both quantitative and qualitative design. The research population consists of 32 students in 8 groups. Data were collected through observations, analysis of students’ worksheets, and documentation of group projects. The data were analyzed inferentially to assess the difference in concept mastery and creative thinking skills between the experimental group using PjBL and the control group. The main findings show that the application of PjBL improved students’ concept mastery and creativity, as evidenced by their ability to accurately depict the water cycle and creatively solve problems. Overall, the results indicate that the PjBL approach is effective in enhancing concept mastery and creative thinking skills, as well as fostering collaboration and initiative among students in learning.

Abstract

Education is a place for someone to dig up information through the knowledge learned in schools or educational units. Schools are also a place for students to develop their talents and abilities. One of the skills that can be honed at school is the ability to be creative. Creativity or creativity is one of the highest levels of thinking. Creative attitude is the thinking ability of students to create something. One way that educators can do is to develop learning models that can improve creative thinking skills. The Project Base Learning learning model is one of the breakthroughs that can be used by educators and schools to increase the creativity of their students in addition to the lack of facilities and infrastructure and the limited ability of teachers at SD N Sokowaten. This learning model can also be used as a forum for schools to help students prepare for the era of technological development and the 5.0 era.

Abstract

Natural Sciences (IPA) does not only study concepts, but in science we can learn a process and mastery of scientific attitudes.  In fact, learning activities are still centered on educators, so students cannot develop knowledge and skills in thinking.  The knowledge and thinking skills possessed by students can experience significant changes, the way that can be done is by applying the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in learning activities.  The Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model is a learning model whose teaching and learning activities are project-based.  In every activity carried out students will get direct experience which can later increase creativity and student learning outcomes.  This study aims to determine the effect of using the Project Based Learning learning model on the creativity of fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Cangkreplor on the water cycle material.  This research uses a descriptive approach.  In this descriptive approach, researchers examine phenomena or populations that can be obtained from subjects in the form of individuals or organizations.  The implementation of Project Based Learning (PjBL) can be applied by way of educators explaining the process of the water cycle cycle, then students get projects in groups about the water cycle process, then students present their projects in front of the class.

Abstract

This study uses qualitative research. The purpose of this study is to find out what factors hinder the development of children at primary school age. This study used interview and observation techniques with two primary school teachers and grade 1 students. The qualitative method was chosen because it has relevant results. The results of interviews with teachers get the result that there are students who experience obstacles in the learning process. The results of interviews with students are that there are internal and external factors that hinder intellectual development. Students who experience intellectual development difficulties will have an impact on the power of thought and emotion in students. So that the quality of learning outcomes obtained will decrease. Inhibiting factors can come from the student himself (internal), as well as lack of motivation to learn. External factors also have an effect where the assistance of parents and teachers is so that the child becomes easy to accept the material. Other factors also influence the development of children's learning, namely intellectual property. Children with high abilities certainly make learning easier so that their achievements are also high.
