Abstract

This study aims to analyze the content of Al-‘Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik, Part One (Units 1–8), from the perspectives of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamaʿah an-Nahdiyyah theoretical framework. Employing a qualitative research design with content analysis, data were collected through library research using listening and note-taking methods on instructional materials, dialogues, illustrations, and the presentation of exercises in the textbook. The findings reveal that Al-‘Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik, Part One (Units 1–8), is generally suitable for Arabic language instruction in Indonesia. The textbook demonstrates a systematic and well-organized structure, clear design, and appropriate readability for beginner learners. It adopts a communicative approach that develops the four language skills and implicitly incorporates moderate Islamic values such as tolerance, balance, and moderation. However, notable limitations include implicit gender bias in visual representations that predominantly depict males in professional and public roles. The printed version also lacks sufficient visual elements and decorative features, resulting in visually monotonous pages. The digital version preserves the print content but suffers from low image resolution when enlarged, a static non-responsive layout, inadequate font and color design for fully vocalized Arabic text, and a lack of interactive features such as digital navigation, vocabulary highlighting, and interactive exercises, reducing its effectiveness for online learning. This study contributes to the development of a comprehensive evaluation model for international educational textbooks as transformative media in promoting moderate Islamic values and recommends the necessity of contextual content adaptation by teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to develop qirā’ah material using Blooket media based on a humanistic approach for eighth-grade students of Ar-Risalah Junior High School, Lubuk Linggau, and to test its effectiveness in Arabic language learning. The background of this study is based on students' low understanding of Arabic reading texts due to the use of less interactive learning materials and media and a learning approach that is still teacher-oriented. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model which includes stages, design analysis, development, implementation, and evaluation. The product developed is qirā’ah material in the form of an educational game on the Blooket platform designed based on humanistic learning principles. The research subjects were eighth-grade students of Ar-Risalah Junior High School, Lubuk Linggau. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The results showed that the qirā’ah material based on Blooket media was declared valid and suitable for use based on the assessment of material experts and media experts. In addition, the use of humanistic-based Blooket media was proven effective in improving students' reading comprehension, learning motivation, and active participation in Arabic language learning. Thus, the development of qirā’ah material using humanistic-based Blooket media can be an innovative alternative in Arabic language learning at the junior high school level

Abstract

Islamic higher education is required to produce graduates who combine academic competence with strong Islamic character. This study examines the integration of a pesantren-based Arabic Language Education (PBA) curriculum in strengthening mahasantri character in line with the vision of Universitas Sunan Drajat Lamongan: developing santri-oriented leaders, entrepreneurs grounded in rahmatan lil-‘alamin, graduates with a global outlook, and individuals with akhlaq al-karimah. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving curriculum administrators, Arabic language lecturers, and mahasantri. Data were analyzed using an interactive model of data condensation, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that pesantren values are systematically integrated through the alignment of institutional vision, learning outcomes, contextual teaching materials, and lecturers’ role modeling. This integration strengthens santri leadership through maharah al-kalam, fosters an entrepreneurial mindset oriented toward maslahah, enhances global awareness through academic Arabic proficiency, and internalizes akhlaq al-karimah through ethical learning practices. The study confirms that a pesantren-based Arabic Language Education (PBA) curriculum serves as a strategic instrument for holistic character formation in Islamic higher education

Abstract

Language games consist of two words: "games" and "language." Games are activities that develop specific skills or abilities in an enjoyable way. The enjoyment derived from games is not about winning, but rather the pleasant experiences during participation. This research is motivated by the difficulties students face in understanding Arabic lessons and the lack of proficiency among female students in using the Arabic language. The purpose of this study is to determine how the language games method is applied to enhance speaking (maharah kalam) and writing (maharah kitabah) skills in Class VII at MTs. Mu’allimat NW Anjani, as well as to identify the challenges faced when implementing these language games. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques include observations, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the application of the language games method is effective, as students show enthusiasm and motivation during lessons. They are attentive and actively engaged, and their desire to learn Arabic is high, although they are not yet fully fluent in using Arabic in daily life. Challenges in applying this method include students' lack of understanding of the games, teachers’ competence in teaching Arabic, and students’ limited interest in Arabic lessons.
