Abstract

Therefore, this study aimed to develop and evaluate a validated conservation-based beach sports tourism model that integrates eco-friendly sport activities, environmental education, community involvement, and zoning-based coastal management to enhance conservation awareness and support sustainable tourism in small island destinations. Materials and Methods: This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) design adapted from Borg and Gall, limited to four stages: research and information gathering, planning, preliminary model development, and preliminary field testing. The study involved 60 participants consisting of tourists, local community members, tourism managers, and experts selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality and homogeneity tests, and paired sample t-tests, while qualitative data were analyzed thematically. The findings showed high demand for the proposed model (Mean = 4.32; 86.4%), high conservation awareness (Mean = 4.10; 82.0%), and strong feasibility ratings (Mean = 4.25; 85.0%). Model usability was also rated positively (Mean = 4.18; 83.6%). Conservation awareness significantly improved after implementation, increasing from pre-test (Mean = 3.65; 73.0%) to post-test (Mean = 4.10; 82.0%), with a mean difference of 0.45 points. Statistical analysis confirmed a significant improvement (t = 3.87, p < 0.001) with a moderate effect size (Cohen’s d = 0.65). Conclusions: The validated conservation-based beach sports tourism model was found to be feasible, practical, and effective in enhancing participants’ conservation awareness. Preliminary field testing demonstrated a significant improvement in conservation awareness, with mean scores increasing from 3.65 to 4.10 (t = 3.87, p < 0.001; Cohen’s d = 0.65). By integrating eco-friendly beach sports activities, environmental education, community participation, and zoning-based coastal management, the model provides a practical framework for promoting sustainable tourism development in small island destinations.

Abstract

Nationalism education in Papua as a complex issue shaped by Christianity, Indigenous Papuan identity, multicultural interaction, historical memory, social injustice, and Indonesian citizenship. Methodologically, it uses a qualitative phenomenological design with 15 CRE teachers and 50 Indigenous Papuan students from 7 schools, selected through purposive criterion sampling, with interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis validated through triangulation, member checking, reflexive bracketing, and an audit trail. The results show that CRE supports inclusive nationalism by translating Christian values such as love, justice, care, reconciliation, and respect for human dignity into concrete social practices. Students understood nationalism through lived experiences of solidarity, mutual cooperation, respect for diversity, and awareness of social justice. The article concludes that CRE can mediate Papuan identity and Indonesian citizenship integratively, and it contributes the concept of relational spirituality-based nationalism as a framework for multicultural and humanistic education in Papua.

Abstract

The ecological crisis in Sentani District, Papua, including the 2019 flash flood, pollution of Lake Sentani, land-use change, waste accumulation, and forest degradation, shows the need to examine how religious values are translated into ecological responsibility. Addressing the empirical gap in studies that often discuss religion and ecology at doctrinal or global levels, this study examined and compared how Christian and Muslim communities in Sentani interpret ecological degradation and transform religious teachings into environmental action. The study employed a qualitative multiple case study design with two cases: Christian ecological praxis and Islamic ecological praxis. Informants were selected purposively from religious leaders, environmental practitioners, and congregation members who were actively involved in religious and ecological activities. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentary analysis, and were analyzed using within-case analysis, cross-case analysis, and thematic analysis. Credibility was strengthened through data triangulation, saturation-oriented recruitment, an audit trail, peer debriefing, and member checking of key interpretations. The findings showed that ecological degradation was understood as both an environmental problem and a moral-spiritual crisis. Christian ecological responsibility was grounded in imago Dei, stewardship, and Genesis 2:15, while Islamic ecological responsibility was articulated through amanah, khalifah, cleanliness, moderation, and the prevention of fasad. Churches and mosques functioned as pedagogical and social spaces that shaped ecological awareness through preaching, education, worship, and collective action. This study concludes that faith-based ecological praxis can support contextual and sustainable interfaith environmental collaboration in Sentani.

Abstract

This systematic review gives an overview of studies dealing with the use of technology to monitor volleyball athletes during the time span from January 2015 to April 2026. By following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, we initially retrieved 2, 449 records from Scopus through a Boolean search. After stepwise screening, 29 documents ended up being reviewed. Methodological quality was, firstly, measured by the FICO framework (threshold ≥ 2/4), and AMSTAR-2 for systematic reviews was used; the reliability of the results across the reviewers was excellent (Cohen's κ = 0.81, 95% CI: 0.74, 0.88, i.e. strong agreement). Three major technology categories were identified: (1) wearable IMU-based systems, (2) GPS/LPS optical tracking, and (3) AI and machine learning analytics. Wearable devices were consistent in measuring jump load and player load (ICC > 0.87, 95% CI: 0.82, 0.93), whereas machine learning classifiers were able to recognize actions with accuracies of 85, 97%. Publication bias was very low (Egger's test, p = 0.21). The major problems identified were differences in cross-device standardization, female and youth players being, largely, absent from the studies, and laboratory sensor validation hardly reflecting real-life use.

Abstract

Tena Troikha, a sacred forest of the Ormu Indigenous community in Nechebei, Papua, is proposed as a culturally grounded mechanism for forest protection. Indigenous ecological knowledge and customary institutions may contribute to local conservation, yet empirical evidence for their effectiveness and operational mechanisms remains limited. This study employed an ethnographic case study design conducted from October 2025 to March 2026, combining field observation, in-depth interviews with customary leaders 10, members of the Ormu Indigenous community 50, village officials 5, local stakeholders 5, relevant government representatives 5, and documentation review. Participants were selected using purposive and snowball sampling to ensure representation of key knowledge holders. Data were analyzed through iterative thematic coding, with triangulation across participant narratives, field notes, and documentary sources to strengthen credibility. Descriptive findings indicate that Tena Troikha is maintained through customary prohibitions, spiritual authority, and collective responsibility. Forest areas under Tena Troikha showed limited visible disturbance during field visits, and participants consistently linked ecological preservation to ancestral norms. Interpretively, these mechanisms support locally legitimate forest protection, though the study did not quantify deforestation rates or compare sacred versus non-sacred areas. Findings emphasize the role of Indigenous institutions and ecological knowledge in regulating sustainable resource use. Tena Troikha illustrates how Indigenous governance can contribute to forest conservation within culturally specific contexts. While findings are not statistically generalizable beyond the Ormu community, they highlight the potential of integrating customary authority, spiritual values, and participatory management into collaborative conservation strategies. Future research should combine qualitative insights with quantitative forest-cover monitoring to evaluate measurable ecological outcomes.

Abstract

This review by a systematic method was intended to integrate the present knowledge about wearable gadgets, tracking systems, and analytical methods used for the purpose of athlete performance and monitoring assessment in beach volleyball. The review was run in line with the PRISMA 2020 criteria. Based on its wide interdisciplinary coverage of sport science, biomechanics, engineering, computer science, and sports technology research areas, Scopus was chosen as the main database. Studies that included beach volleyball players or events and referred to wearable, sensor-based, tracking, physiological, or computational monitoring technologies were accepted. Study screening and data extraction were performed independently by two reviewers with a very good level of inter-rater agreement (Cohen's κ = 0.87). Out of 128 published studies between 1998 and 2026, 112 were included in the qualitative synthesis. Thematic analysis mapped four main research areas: wearable sensor validation and load monitoring, physiological and biochemical monitoring, computer-vision tracking systems, and machine-learning-based performance analytics. Concerning validity, Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) were highly reliable for jump detection and external-load monitoring, while beach volleyball environment positional accuracy of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) systems topped that of GPS technologies. Machine-learning algorithms reached very high accuracy for action recognition, frequently above 95%, although small datasets were characteristic of most research. The data presented also make a strong case for wearable and analytical technologies integration as the base of evidence-based athlete monitoring, training program optimization, tactical player analysis, and performance management in beach volleyball. Investigations aiming at longitudinal monitoring, females and youth as athlete groups, and physiological, environmental, and artificial intelligent monitoring systems integration seem to be the most promising directions for future research.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health challenge in Indonesia due to its long-term consequences on physical growth, cognitive development, and future productivity. Optimizing maternal and child health services is therefore essential to strengthen stunting prevention efforts. This study aimed to explore the implementation of digital-based maternal and child healthcare services and identify strategies for optimizing their role in stunting prevention. A qualitative descriptive design was employed in Kendari City, Indonesia. Fifteen participants, including midwives, nutrition officers, Posyandu cadres, and maternal and child health program coordinators, were selected through purposive sampling based on their direct involvement in maternal and child health services and experience with digital health applications. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews and document reviews and continued until sufficient thematic depth was achieved across participant groups. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis involving coding, categorization, and theme development. To enhance trustworthiness, source triangulation and member checking were applied throughout the study. The findings revealed six major themes. Digital health systems were perceived to improve service quality through faster reporting, more accurate health records, real-time monitoring, enhanced maternal health literacy, and strengthened early detection of stunting risks. Digital platforms also expanded access to healthcare information and services. However, implementation barriers included unstable internet connectivity, limited digital infrastructure, variations in digital literacy, and fragmented information systems. The study suggests that integrated digital health systems may strengthen maternal and child healthcare services and support stunting prevention efforts, although implementation success depends on infrastructure readiness, workforce capacity, and system integration.

Abstract

ritical reading has become a decisive academic competence in an information environment dominated by digital texts, yet many learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) read online material passively rather than critically. Because a single method can establish either how well students read or why they read as they do, but not both, this study adopted an explanatory sequential mixed methods design, pursuing three linked objectives: a quantitative objective to measure the level of students’ critical reading across five dimensions, a qualitative objective to explain the strategies underlying that level, and an integrative objective to generate meta-inferences connecting the two. In Phase 1, 20 undergraduates in one English Education program at Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau completed a 10-item Likert questionnaire whose content validity was confirmed by three expert reviewers (scale-level CVI = .92) and whose internal consistency was good (Cronbach’s α = .86); responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics. In Phase 2, 10 students selected for maximum variation on their scores took part in semi-structured interviews analyzed thematically following Braun and Clarke, in which 38 initial codes were collapsed into six subthemes and two themes. Quantitatively, students rated themselves consistently high (composite M = 4.52, SD = 0.50). Qualitatively, two themes strategic critical engagement with digital texts and evaluative and reflective reading practices accounted for the scores. Integration through a joint display showed confirmation on four dimensions and, importantly, expansion on the lowest-rated dimension: the qualitative data revealed that students detected bias by comparing across texts rather than analyzing a single text, information the questionnaire alone could not yield. Because the design is cross-sectional and relies on self-report, the findings describe students’ attained competence and reported strategies at one point in time rather than change over time or a causal effect of digital texts. The study contributes a worked example of strand integration in critical reading research and identifies within-text bias analysis as a clear instructional priority.

Abstract

Abstract

This study explored the role of dynamic capabilities in enhancing corporate competitive advantage through the integration of artificial intelligence and managerial microfoundations. The research addressed the growing need for organizations to adapt to rapid technological changes and increasingly complex competitive environments. Using a qualitative literature review design, this study systematically analyzed 42 peer-reviewed sources retrieved from Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, and Google Scholar. Sources were selected based on their relevance to dynamic capabilities, AI adoption, and microfoundational perspectives in strategic management. Data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis and thematic analysis. The findings revealed that the reviewed literature consistently indicates that dynamic capabilities, operationalized through sensing, seizing, and reconfiguring processes, are enhanced by the integration of AI technologies. However, the results also showed that the effectiveness of these capabilities depended heavily on managerial cognition, skills, and decision-making capacity. The study revealed that AI functioned not as a standalone driver of competitive advantage, but as an embedded component within organizational capabilities that required human interpretation and strategic alignment. Furthermore, variations in organizational outcomes highlighted the importance of micro-level factors in determining the success of technology adoption. The study concluded that the interplay between technological capabilities and human agency was essential for achieving sustainable competitive advantage. These findings contributed to a more comprehensive understanding of strategic management in the digital era and provided insights for both academic development and managerial practice.
