Abstract

Abstract

The increasing influence of Salafi ideology in educational institutions, often brings textual interpretations of Islamic teachings, thus affecting the dynamics of religious diversity in a multicultural society. The main focus of this research is how transnational Salafi education affects the mindset, religious attitudes, and social relations between religious communities in Indonesia. This article aims to analyze transnational Salafi education and its impact on multireligious harmony in Indonesia. This study used a qualitative method with a literature study approach. Data was collected through searching sources from the internet, academic books, and scientific journals related to Salafi education and multireligious harmony. The analysis process was carried out thematically to identify patterns of influence of Salafi education on interreligious relations in Indonesia. The results of the study showed that transnational Salafi education tended to influence the exclusive mindset of some students, which could hinder interfaith communication. However, there were also Salafi educational institutions that have begun to adopt a moderate approach to teaching, thus contributing positively to social relations. This article emphasizes the importance of strengthening the value of inclusivity in the religious education curriculum to maintain harmony in the midst of Indonesia's diversity. This research provides new insights into the challenges and opportunities of Salafi education in building multireligious harmony in Indonesia.

Abstract

This paper aims to portray the role of Higher Education in mainstreaming Indonesian nationalism insight amid the dynamic issue of nationalism in society. It specifically focuses on the extent to which the insight is implemented in the Three Pillars of Higher Education or Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi at IAIN Pekalongan. The study used a descriptive-qualitative approach with data sourced from Renstra, academic instructional guideline, research and community service in 2017 and 2018, period that marks early years of IAIN Pekalongan after its conversion from STAIN. From data analysis, this reflective study argues that, first; the implementation of Indonesian nationalism insight in teaching has been effective only at the policy level. Second, its implementation in research is still limited, i.e. 11 of 134 studies (8.2%). Third, its implementation in community service has not been accommodated explicitly because the existing programs revolve around community empowerment in specific social and religious areas. The study also presents challenges analysis in the end of discussion.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the assessment and follow-up processes of Arab learning at Madrasah Aliyah using qualitative methods with a phenomenological approach. It involved 24 Arabic language teachers from Madrasah Aliyah in South Kalimantan. The findings indicated that Minimum Learning Mastery Standards (MLMS) were not adjusted to accommodate student characteristics, subject competencies, and educational unit conditions. Consequently, learning assessments became less credible, often serving merely to fulfil MLMS requirements. Both enrichment and remedial follow-up were perceived as formalities, lacking a basis in the analysis of student assessments, which undermined students' motivation to learn. Teachers encountered ethical dilemmas in assessment and decision-making processes, exacerbated by external pressures for students to meet MLMS benchmarks. The study emphasizes the importance of reducing external pressures in determining MLMS, enhancing teacher competence in adopting new assessment methods, and improving evaluation systems. These improvements are crucial for developing evidence-based structured enrichment and remedial programs
