The increasing prevalence of diabetes mellitus can cause dangerous consequences, not only limited to high blood sugar levels but also complications caused by the disease. Of the many complaints of complications caused by diabetes mellitus so far, the most frequently treated are microvascular and macrovascular complications, while complications related to sexual activity, namely sexual dysfunction, are rarely asked. In a study, many men and women suffer from sexual dysfunction who report high levels of diabetes stress. Another study stated that female DM patients report depression due to sexual dysfunction. There are not many methods for solving sexual dysfunction problems in DM patients, counseling is one of the treatments that can be provided. Another crucial aspect of changing the behavior of DM patients is education. Health education significantly impacts knowledge about sexual dysfunction in people with diabetes mellitus. Considering that sexual issues are still taboo, this study will develop a model to enable patients to seek counseling and information from an app about sexuality in DM patients. Furthermore, the digital Motoliango platform allows partners of DM patients to obtain information and participate in counseling. This study was conducted at a public health center in Gorontalo Regency, Indonesia. The Digital Motoliango platform was developed in two stages. The first involved gathering information through a literature review, patient interviews, and focus group discussions (FGDs) with experts. The second stage tested the feasibility of the model. Ten T2DM patients participating in the study agreed with the quality of the digital Motoliango platform, which was tested using the System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaire and obtained an average score of 75, indicating that the digital Motoliango platform is suitable for use as a sexual education tool for DM patients.

Acne is a common skin problem that often occurs in teenagers and adults, and it can reduce confidence and quality of life. One of the main causes of acne is the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes, which lives in hair follicles and triggers inflammation in the skin. Conventional treatment usually involves topical or oral antibiotics, but long-term use may lead to resistance and reduced effectiveness. Therefore, natural alternatives are needed, including plant extracts with antibacterial activity. This study aimed to formulate a nanoparticle gel from melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) peel extract and evaluate its physical quality and antibacterial activity. The extract was obtained through maceration using 96% ethanol, then prepared into nanoparticles by ionic gelation with chitosan and sodium tripolyphosphate. The nanoparticles had an average size of 44.01 nm, monodisperse distribution, and a zeta potential of +42.81 mV, indicating good stability. The gel formulations were tested for organoleptic properties, viscosity, spreadability, and pH. All formulas met the standard criteria for topical gels. Antibacterial testing showed that the nanoparticle gel (F2) produced a larger inhibition zone against P. acnes (6.6 mm) compared to the extract gel (F1) (5.7 mm). These results demonstrate that melinjo peel extract formulated in nanoparticle gel has good potential as a natural topical antibacterial agent for acne treatment.

Patients with DM Type 2 often face challenges in consistently performing self-care, especially foot care, which can lead to serious complications such as diabetic foot ulcers. Knowledge of diabetes and health literacy are key factors affecting self-care practices. Mobile-based digital technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) can support education, reminders, and continuous monitoring to improve diabetes management in primary care. This study aimed to analyze the needs of DM Type 2 patients in self-care and to design a preliminary prototype of a mobile application integrated with AI as a supportive self-care tool tailored to patients and healthcare providers. A mixed-method sequential explanatory design was employed. Purposive sampling was used to recruit 112 patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus for the quantitative phase using the Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire (DKQ-24), Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities (SDSCA), and eHealth Literacy Scale (eHEALS). Qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with 5 patients and 3 healthcare providers. Integration of quantitative and qualitative findings guided the design of a preliminary mobile application prototype with Artificial Intelligence (AI) features. Most patients had sufficient diabetes knowledge (67.9%) but low self-care (79.5%) and health literacy (59.8%). Positive correlations were found between diabetes knowledge and self-care (ρ = 0.383; p < 0.001) and between health literacy and self-care (ρ = 0.755; p < 0.001). Patients understood basic DM management but often neglected foot care and expressed high interest in using a digital application with reminders, guidance, and AI-based personalized recommendations. The initial mobile AI-based application prototype is relevant, user-centered, and has the potential to improve self-care practices, particularly foot care, among DM Type 2 patients in primary healthcare.

Monkeypox disease is caused by the monkeypox virus (MPXV) infection and is associated with international travel or imported animals. Since May 2022, the number of newly reported cases each week has increased dramatically, leading the WHO to declare this outbreak as a public health emergency of international concern. To evaluate antibody response and disease status after monkeypox vaccination using the smallpox vaccine. The authors followed the PRISMA guidelines to systematically search and collect literature from the following databases: ProQuest, PubMed, EBSCOhost, SAGE, Taylor & Francis, and GARUDA without time restrictions. Titles and abstracts were reviewed for relevance. The inclusion criteria were original articles written in English that investigated the effects of smallpox vaccination on MPXV infection. A total of 973 studies were initially identified through database searching. After removing duplicates and screening titles and abstracts based on the predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, potentially relevant articles were assessed through full-text review. Following this eligibility assessment, 30 studies were included in the final analysis. These included cohort studies (n=1), case-control studies (n=1), case reports (n=1), and in vivo studies (n=27) published between 2002 and 2022. Two types of smallpox vaccines were used: live attenuated vaccines (n=24) and subunit vaccines made from protein (n=1), virus-like replicon particles (n=1), and DNA virus (n=5). The overall results showed that post-exposure vaccination protected subjects and could induce long-term protection against severe MPXV infection. Subunit vaccines against MPXV could also serve as a safer alternative to live attenuated vaccines. Smallpox vaccination is recommended for high-risk groups susceptible to monkeypox infection. Specific vaccines for monkeypox infection are still being developed. This systematic review found that the overall potential of smallpox vaccines is quite satisfactory in preventing MPXV infection.

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) has been identified as a work-related condition and is significantly more prevalent in individuals who use hand instruments that generate vibration and require repetitive motion and heavy force, such as dentists. CTS might be assessed using both subjective and objective methods, including the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) Questionnaire and the Phalen test, respectively. The present study aimed to construct an Indonesian version of the CTS questionnaire and to analyze whether this translated questionnaire could be used as a subjective measurement tool, since this study was conducted in Indonesia. The CTS questionnaire was translated into Bahasa Indonesia, followed by a standardized cross-cultural adaptation procedure, and was subsequently distributed to sixty-five dentists selected through simple random sampling. The validity and reliability of the translated questionnaire were analysed using corrected item-total correlation and Cronbach's alpha tests, respectively, with statistical analysis performed by IBM SPSS. The validity of each item was in the range from 0.321 (min) to 0.895 (max), and the reliability of the questionnaire was 0.901. These findings indicated that the Indonesian version of the CTS questionnaire has satisfactory psychometric properties, including adequate validity and reliability.

Domperidone is a dopamine antagonist antiemetic classified as a BCS Class II drug with low solubility and oral bioavailability due to high first-pass metabolism. One approach to enhancing drug release and absorption is through the development of a Fast Dissolving Film (FDF), a thin film that dissolves rapidly in the oral cavity without water and provides a faster onset of action. FDF formulation is influenced by the choice of polymers; HPMC E15 produces a strong and flexible film, while maltodextrin improves solubility and accelerates disintegration, necessitating optimization of the polymer combination to achieve optimal formulation characteristics. To formulate and characterize a fast-dissolving film (FDF) formulation containing domperidone using a combination of hydrophilic polymers. Domperidone is known to have low oral bioavailability due to high first-pass metabolism; therefore, an alternative drug delivery system is needed to improve the speed of onset and therapeutic efficiency. Formula optimization using Design Expert via the I-optimal mixture design method. The independent variables used were the concentrations of HPMC E15 and maltodextrin as polymers, while the dependent variables included fold strength, thickness, disintegration time, and dissolution time. The FDF formulation was prepared using the solvent casting method and evaluated via organoleptic testing, thickness, fold strength, surface pH, content uniformity, and disintegration time. Results: The combination of HPMC E15 and maltodextrin significantly influenced the physical characteristics and drug release from the FDF formulation. The best mathematical model obtained from the optimization was a quartic model. The resulting optimal formulation met the physical evaluation criteria and demonstrated potential as an effective drug delivery system with rapid disintegration and optimal drug release. The domperidone FDF formulation with a combination of HPMC E15 and maltodextrin was successfully developed and possesses characteristics that meet the requirements, as well as the potential to improve bioavailability and the convenience of oral drug administration.

Effective self-care is essential for maintaining glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. However, sustaining self-care behaviors after hospital discharge can be challenging, particularly for patients with complications and physical limitations. Digital communication platforms such as WhatsApp Messenger may provide a practical tool for remote monitoring and support of diabetes self-management. This case series aimed to describe the implementation of structured diabetes education followed by WhatsApp-based monitoring to support diabetes self-care after hospital discharge. Two patients with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes mellitus and multiple comorbidities participated in this case series. Before discharge, patients and caregivers received structured diabetes education and completed self-assessment using the Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities (SDSCA). After discharge, self-care behaviors—including diet adherence, physical activity, foot care, and self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG)—were monitored for four weeks through weekly reports submitted via WhatsApp. Healthcare professionals reviewed the reports and provided feedback and guidance. Both patients demonstrated improved self-care behaviors during the four-week monitoring period. In Case 1, mean random blood glucose decreased from 240 mg/dL to 102 mg/dL with improved diet adherence, increased physical activity, and regular SMBG. In Case 2, mean random blood glucose improved from 204 mg/dL to 125 mg/dL with consistent diet adherence, regular foot care, and caregiver-assisted physical activity. WhatsApp-based monitoring combined with structured education may improve diabetes self-care behaviors and glycemic control during home care after hospital discharge.
