Abstract

This study comprehensively investigates the influence of cognitive biases, emotions, and Islamic legal understanding on halal cryptocurrency investment decisions among Muslim investors. Employing a Meta-Structural Equation Modeling (MASEM) approach, the analysis is based on data from 12,780 respondents in Muslim-majority countries to identify patterns of relationships among key variables. The primary findings of this research affirm that overconfidence has a significant positive impact on investment intention (β = 0.41, p < 0.01), consistent with Shiller (2017), who highlighted that excessive confidence can drive risk-taking behavior in financial markets. Conversely, loss aversion demonstrates a significant negative effect (β = -0.53, p < 0.01), aligning with Kahneman and Tversky's (2013) findings regarding preferences for avoiding losses under uncertainty. Regarding emotional factors, anxiety about price volatility is a major deterrent to investment (β = -0.54, p < 0.01). However, a Sharia-compliant label mitigates negative perceptions among Muslim investors toward cryptocurrency investments, enhancing their sense of security and trust (β = 0.36, p < 0.05). Lastly, understanding Islamic law significantly influences confidence in halal investments (β = 0.39, p < 0.05), corroborating the findings of El-Gamal (2006) and Din (2021) while underscoring the importance of Sharia-based financial literacy. The novelty of this study lies in its multidimensional integration of psychological behavior (cognitive biases and emotions) and Islamic law, thereby expanding the horizons of prior research. Consequently, this research contributes to the foundation of a new construct and provides practical guidance for developing Sharia-compliant financial products in the digital era.

Abstract

This study explores how dance can be integrated into a multicultural counseling approach to foster appreciation of cultural diversity among secondary school students in Jakarta, Indonesia. The research responds to increasing social fragmentation and identity tensions in urban multicultural contexts. This study employed a qualitative exploratory case study design conducted in three multicultural secondary schools in Jakarta. Participants included 15 students actively involved in dance and counseling sessions, 3 school counselors, 3 dance teachers, and 1 vice principal. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observation during cross-cultural dance practices and art-based group counseling sessions. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis following Braun and Clarke’s six-stage framework. The findings reveal three central themes. First, dance functions as an embodied learning medium that facilitates cultural self-awareness and identity validation. Second, collaborative cross-cultural dance activities reduce cultural stereotypes and promote empathy through shared movement experiences. Third, reflective group counseling sessions strengthen emotional openness, intercultural dialogue, and social solidarity among students. However, implementation challenges include limited counselor training in arts-based approaches and institutional perceptions that position arts as non-priority activities. The integration of dance into multicultural counseling offers a pedagogical and therapeutic model that supports identity development, empathy formation, and intercultural understanding in urban school settings. This study contributes to the advancement of arts-based multicultural counseling practices within pluralistic educational environments.

Abstract

Abstract

Sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) are a significant source of daily sugar intake in the community, with sweet tea being the most popular type of SSB among Indonesians. At the same time, diabetes mellitus ranks third among the leading causes of death in Indonesia. Therefore, greater attention needs to be paid to factors that could potentially reduce SSB consumption, such as package size and diabetes knowledge. Studies examining size-based nudging and diabetes knowledge in relation to SSB consumption are still limited in Indonesia. This study aims to examine size-based nudging (on sweet tea packaging) and diabetes knowledge as factors influencing sweet tea consumption. A quasi-experimental design was used with an effect size of f = 0.25 (medium), α = 0.05, and a power of 0.90, calculated using G*Power 3.1 software. An online questionnaire was distributed to 184 participants, who were asked to select their preferred cup size based on images of regular and jumbo-sized sweet tea cups to simulate size-based nudging. A 23-item diabetes knowledge questionnaire was also used to measure participants’ diabetes knowledge. The results showed a significant effect (p < .001) of cup size on sweet tea consumption, indicating the influence of size-based nudging. However, diabetes knowledge was found to have an insignificant effect (p = 0.971), indicating a knowledge-behavior gap, where higher knowledge does not always lead to healthier choices. This study provides new evidence on nudging interventions for beverage consumption in developing countries, particularly Indonesia, and highlights that size-based nudging can be a practical and low-cost policy tool to help reduce sugar-sweetened beverage consumption alongside educational efforts.

Abstract

Vocational education plays a crucial role in preparing a skilled workforce capable of responding to rapid industrial transformation in the digital manufacturing era. Despite various reforms, a persistent mismatch between vocational graduates’ competencies and industry requirements remains a structural challenge. This study aims to develop an Integrated Teaching Factory (ITF) framework as a conceptual model to strengthen industry-standard competencies in vocational education. The study employs a qualitative approach using a PRISMA-guided systematic literature review of national and international publications published between 2015 and 2025. Relevant studies were identified, screened, and analyzed through thematic content analysis to extract recurring patterns related to production-based learning, digital manufacturing integration, and cross-sector collaboration. The synthesis reveals three interdependent dimensions that underpin effective Teaching Factory implementation: industry-aligned competency mapping, digital production integration, and collaborative governance structures involving vocational institutions, industry partners, and public stakeholders. These dimensions are integrated into a coherent framework explaining how vocational education can systematically align curriculum design, technological infrastructure, and partnership governance in digitally intensive manufacturing contexts. The study contributes theoretically by integrating Public–Private Partnership theory, Stakeholder theory, and the Triple Helix model, and practically by providing strategic guidance for policymakers and practitioners in designing sustainable and scalable vocational education transformation initiatives.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of digital learning into the Islamic Religious Education (IRE) curriculum, focusing on the challenges and opportunities presented by this process. The main issue addressed is the slow adoption of digital tools in Islamic education, despite the growing reliance on technology in other educational sectors. The objective of this research is to examine how digital learning can enhance student engagement, accessibility, and interactivity in IRE, while maintaining the integrity of Islamic teachings. The study uses a library research method, collecting data from relevant books, journal articles, and previous studies related to digital learning and Islamic education. The findings reveal that digital tools can significantly improve the learning experience by offering interactive content, personalized learning paths, and access to educational resources beyond traditional classrooms. However, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, resistance to change from educators, and concerns over preserving the spiritual aspects of Islamic education are identified. The research concludes that, while the integration of digital learning into IRE offers considerable benefits, overcoming these challenges is essential for its successful implementation. Recommendations include investing in infrastructure, providing teacher training, and ensuring the alignment of digital tools with Islamic educational values

Abstract

The new world order, marked by digital disruption, environmental crises, social inequality, and global governance changes, calls for a reconstruction of the ethical paradigm in the financial system. Islamic finance offers a foundation based on Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah (Islamic Principles of Sharia), emphasizing justice, balance, social responsibility, and sustainability. This study aims to develop a convergent ethical paradigm through a systematic literature review (SLR) of Islamic financial principles addressing contemporary global economic challenges. Using the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, ten articles were selected, analyzed with thematic synthesis to identify key patterns. The results show that aligning Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah with the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework forms a strong ethical foundation for a sustainable financial system. Principles like distributive justice, transparency, and environmental preservation align with global sustainability goals. The study suggests that strengthening sharia governance, developing an ESG disclosure index, and integrating sharia-compliant fintech innovations are vital strategies to improve the credibility and accountability of Islamic finance. In conclusion, Islamic finance can establish a convergent ethical paradigm that upholds Sharia integrity while engaging with global sustainability standards, offering a conceptual framework for sustainable finance policies in the new world order.

Abstract

Prior learning experience is often assumed to influence students’ psychological readiness in foreign language education. This study examined whether first-year students in a tertiary German language education program differed in self-efficacy and learning motivation based on their prior exposure to German before university. Using a quantitative comparative approach, data were collected from 76 students through adapted measures of self-efficacy and academic motivation. The findings revealed no statistically significant differences between students with and without prior learning experience in either self-efficacy or motivation. Although a slight tendency in motivational scores favored the experienced group, effect sizes were small, indicating limited practical differences. These results suggest that, in the context of beginner-level tertiary German education, prior exposure alone may not function as a decisive differentiating factor in students’ initial psychological conditions. Instead, self-efficacy and motivation appear to be shaped in interaction with the immediate learning context. Further longitudinal research is recommended to explore how individual differences evolve over time in foreign language learning.

Abstract

Peer interaction in Digital Learning Environments (DLEs) is commonly treated as supplementary to online instruction, yet it can function as a key site where hidden curriculum is enacted through informal socialization. This study examines how peer-to-peer interaction transmits, negotiates, and reinterprets unwritten norms that shape students’ academic identities and participation practices in online higher education. Using a multisite ethnographic case study grounded in sociocultural theory and critical pedagogy, data were collected over three months from three Indonesian higher education institutions using synchronous and asynchronous digital platforms. Participants included 36 students and 6 lecturers. Data comprised virtual classroom observations, online discussion forum archives, and semi-structured interviews, and were analyzed using thematic analysis supported by NVivo 12. Findings indicate that peer interaction generated four clusters of hidden curriculum: (1) digital ethics enacted through peer regulation of communication tone, response timing, and visibility practices that shaped credibility and participation; (2) academic integrity negotiated through peer-shared strategies that blurred boundaries between mutual support and misconduct; (3) emotional work expressed in affective labor to sustain group harmony and minimize conflict-related sanctions; and (4) hidden hierarchies produced by unequal platform literacy and social capital, positioning certain students as informal gatekeepers of information and belonging. These peer-mediated norms operated as forms of governance outside formal course design, shaping participation strategies, sense of belonging, and academic identity construction. The study offers context-specific evidence from Indonesian online higher education and highlights the importance of critical digital pedagogy that renders implicit norms discussable and supports more inclusive online learning practice.
