The community service program of Group 27 of the Student Field Work Program (KKM) at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University focuses on increasing the knowledge and awareness of Janaka Village residents about stunting, which is a crucial issue because it affects the quality of Indonesia's human resources in the future as the key to the country's progress. Stunting is a condition of growth failure in infants caused by prolonged malnutrition, characterized by a child's height below the normal age limit (height-for-age below the 3rd percentile). Group 27 KKM in Janaka Village, Jiput Subdistrict, carried out socialization activities on stunting, early marriage, and risky pregnancies to enrich the knowledge of teenagers, prospective brides and grooms, pregnant women, mothers of toddlers, posyandu cadres, and community leaders. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied through participatory observation and discussion sessions. The activity was carried out in three phases: preparation (collaborating with village officials and the Jiput Subdistrict BKKBN to provide materials), implementation of a direct socialization program based on live presentations with dialogue with around 20 participants, and evaluation of changes in knowledge assessment. As a result, the residents of Janaka Village experienced an increase in their understanding of the causes, effects, and preventive measures for stunting after the BKKBN counseling, as seen from their enthusiasm for participation and determination to apply a healthy lifestyle regularly.

The Tri Dharma of Higher Education encompasses three main points: education and teaching, research and development, and community service. One form of implementation is the Student Work Lecture (KKM), which aims to help solve community problems. The 2026 UNTIRTA Thematic KKM Group 21 implemented a socialization program on the important role of parents and teachers in character development in Sampangbitung Village. The main problem behind this activity was the emergence of conflict between parents and teachers during student discipline at school, which resulted in confusion and decreased discipline in children. The goal of this work program was to educate the community about the appropriate synergy in educating children through interactive socialization methods. The conclusion of this activity was a growing understanding of collaborative partnerships between schools and homes to foster responsible and well-behaved children.

The problem of organic waste in rural areas requires an innovative and sustainable management approach. This article aims to explain the implementation of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot innovation in waste management and the construction of green leadership in Banyuresmi Village. The implementation method was carried out through the identification of village problems, socialization, education, and assistance to the community with a pilot model of maggot cultivation. The results of the activity show that the use of BSF maggots is necessary in efforts to reduce the volume of household organic waste while producing economically valuable products in the form of alternative feed and organic fertilizer. This innovation encourages the formation of a circular economy system based on local potential. The success of the program was influenced by the role of green leadership of the village government, which made efforts to integrate environmental issues into community policies, practices, and culture. Participatory and visionary leadership was able to increase community involvement in waste sorting and management. Thus, the synergy between the BSF maggot innovation and green leadership formed a model of sustainable, productive, and community-based village waste management.

This community service activity aims to equip teachers at YLPI High School in Pekanbaru with the knowledge and motivation needed to develop test questions based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). This community service activity was conducted based on observations made at YLPI High School in Pekanbaru regarding the teachers’ needs. They reported that teachers do not yet fully understand how to develop HOTS questions. Although they have received various trainings on question development, they still face difficulties in designing HOTS questions. Consequently, this also resulted in students being unable to solve questions oriented toward Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Furthermore, a major responsibility of educators is to prepare students, so they become accustomed to and capable of solving such HOTS questions. Teachers are required to be able to develop HOTS-based questions and apply them in the learning process. Thus, it is hoped that this service project will provide teachers with the knowledge and motivation to continue striving to create HOTS-based questions for students and apply them in the learning process. Furthermore, this initiative can have a positive impact on teachers’ ability to design HOTS questions, and in the future, students will become accustomed to and find it easier to work on HOTS-based questions.

Speaking skill is one of the most important productive talents in learning English, especially for the students of rural junior high school who have limited opportunities to practice in the real communicative scenarios. The community service activity was aimed at improving the speaking skills of SMP Negeri 4 Tegal Buleud students through a systematic self introduction training program using the framework of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT). The program was held on Thursday, 16 April 2026 by lecturers of STKIP Bina Mutiara and involved about 40 students in five stages sequentially, namely warm-up and ice-breaking, structured input delivery, expert modeling, guided pair-work practice, and individual presentation with corrective feedback. Data were gathered by observation using a six-dimensional rubric and indicated that 52.5% of the participants reached the “Very Good” level, 35% “Good” and 12.5% “Sufficient” and no participant was graded below sufficient. The practice lowered language anxiety considerably, enhanced communicative confidence, and improved students’ willingness to communicate (WTC) in English. These findings confirm the relevance of CLT principles to non-formal educational settings and emphasize the strategic position of higher education institutions to close the pedagogical gap in schools in under-served communities. The strategy established is scalable and adaptable for wider community-oriented English speaking empowerment projects.

Low reading interest among elementary school children remains a serious problem in Indonesia, particularly in schools that do not yet have adequate library facilities. This condition was also observed at SD Negeri Sidamukti 2, Baros Subdistrict, Serang Regency, where the thematic literacy student community service program (Kuliah Kerja Mahasiswa/KKM) was conducted. This article aimed to describe the implementation of the Literacy Tree as a creative strategy used by university students to foster third-grade students' reading interest amid limited school library facilities. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach through field observations, documentation, and interviews with the classroom teacher. The observational findings indicated that the Literacy Tree served as a simple, low-cost, and accessible alternative literacy medium that encouraged students' active engagement through reading, summarizing, and displaying their work on the tree. Furthermore, the personalized and differentiated approach applied by the students helped accommodate 42 third-grade students with diverse reading proficiencies without discrimination. This program is recommended as a contextual short-term alternative that can be adapted by other schools facing similar facility constraints, alongside efforts to encourage sustainable library development by schools and local governments.

This community service program aimed to strengthen family literacy and provide initial reinforcement of parents' understanding to support their children's learning in the digital era. The activity was conducted on July 25, 2026, at SD Negeri Cibodas, Tanara District, Serang Regency, with parents (students’ guardians) as the primary participants, while teachers acted as school partners in supporting the activity. The program used an interactive seminar and talk-show format, followed by discussion and question-and-answer sessions. Evaluation was qualitative, based on participant engagement, the relevance of questions raised, and verbal responses during the activity. The results indicated strong participant involvement in discussing practical challenges, including regulating children's use of gadgets, establishing reading routines at home, maintaining motivation to learn, and improving communication between families and schools. The seminar also introduced active parental mediation, which positions parents not only as supervisors but also as facilitators who guide children in selecting information and using digital technology for learning and creativity. Participants expressed that the activity broadened their perspectives on their role in children's education. The activity indicates that interactive family literacy education is relevant to parents' daily needs. However, continuous mentoring, structured home literacy practices, and follow-up evaluation are required to examine potential longer-term changes in parental practices and family literacy development.

Children in island communities often face limited opportunities to develop structured communication skills through interactive learning activities. This community service program aims to improve speaking ability of children in South Nias Islands through the implementation of Role Play by Information Gap training. The participants are 9 children with age of 10 to 12 years old from South Nias Island. The activity was conducted on January 2, 2025 for a day and consisted of needs identification, pre-test, contextual language input, paired role-play practice, feedback, post-test, and reflection. Speaking performance was assessed consistently across four aspects: speaking confidence, communication fluency, interaction ability, and expression, using speaking speaking scale 1 to 5 from 9 participants. The results found that participants’ speaking skills improved after participating in the training. Descriptively, the average score increased from 45% in the pre-test to 73% in the post-test, representing an increase of 28 percentage points. The highest improvement was in interaction ability, which increased from 40% to 80%, followed by speaking confidence from 60% to 80%, communication fluency from 40% to 72%, and expression ability from 40% to 60%. These findings indicate that Role Play is an effective learning strategy for improving children’s speaking skills because it provides opportunities for direct practice, active participation, and contextual communication experiences. In addition to improve speaking ability, the activity also contributed to participants’ confidence in speaking English, social interaction, and willingness to express ideas. Therefore, the activity indicates the potential of contextual Role Play with Information Gap tasks to support children's English-speaking practice in coastal communities.

Limited spatial information has been a fundamental obstacle to developing economic potential and mobility in rural areas, particularly in Curugmanis Village. This community service program aims to address spatial disorientation through a hybrid approach: combining physical wayfinding infrastructure with digital spatial transformation. The method employed was Participatory Action Research (PAR), encompassing participatory planning, action implementation, field observation, and reflection with the community. The results demonstrate the successful installation of directional signage, which effectively facilitated visitor mobility and the flow of logistics to the village center. To validate the impact of this hybrid program, an evaluation was conducted by distributing questionnaires to 39 respondents (N=39). These respondents included internal parties such as representatives from the KKM student team and external parties, such as visitors and observers. It was confirmed that the lack of navigation infrastructure caused significant mobility challenges for visitors. The mean score for the indicator regarding difficulty in locating public service addresses (RT/RW) was low, at 1.76. Conversely, the implemented spatial interventions received positive validation; the indicator regarding the role of street signs in facilitating logistics deliveries achieved a mean score of 4.75, while the perceived urgency of mapping MSME locations on digital maps scored 4.68. These findings underscore the critical importance of the proposed physical and digital solutions for enhancing village accessibility. On the digital front, the program successfully geo-tagged the homes of neighborhood administrators (RT/RW) which serve as public service hubs as well as locations for bamboo weaving and *emping* (melinjo chip) micro-enterprises, all supported by the creation of visual promotional materials. In conclusion, this spatial intervention not only opens up access to public services but also significantly enhances the digital literacy and online visibility of local businesses, fostering sustainable market expansion.
