Abstract

This study is entitled Continuity and Changes in the Presentation of Sikambang Art in the Community of Sibolga City. In this study, qualitative methods are used as a reference in conducting research. This research took place on Jalan Sisinga Mangaraja XII, Sibolga City. The purpose of this study was to determine the continuity and changes that occurred in the period before independence, after independence and the New Order era until now. In this study, researchers apply the theory of cultural change according to Herskovitz; cultural change can be seen from two points of view, namely, what happened in the past and the present. Based on the first point of view, they always use it in the term diffusion, which is defined as the transmission of culture in the process. The results achieved in this study are the dynamics of change in a period of 3 periods wherein the pre-independence stage, Sikambang art was still very simple, only played with Sikambang drums, and then in the post-independence phase, Sikambang art progressed with the addition of several instruments in its presentation. Then in the New Order phase, Sikambang art began to be eroded by the entry of new cultures, which caused a lack of interest in the new generation in maintaining Sikambang art. This can be seen from the loss of several songs in the Sikambang arts.

Abstract

Tourism is one of the key sectors in the local economy, especially in areas rich in culture and local wisdom like Banyuwangi Regency. Kemiren Village, inhabited by the Osing indigenous community, has been designated as a tourist village. However, the development of this tourist village often alienates the local community from the decision-making process, reducing their role and the benefits they should receive. This study aims to examine the involvement of the Osing community in the development of Kemiren Tourism Village and the impact of alienation on their economic, social, and cultural well-being. Based on Karl Marx’s theory of alienation, this study uses five indicators of alienation: powerlessness, meaninglessness, social isolation, normlessness, and self-estrangement. This theory helps to understand how communities feel disconnected from the processes and outcomes they should be involved in and benefit from. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews, observation, and document analysis. The informants include the village head, traditional leaders, and community members directly involved in the development of Kemiren Tourism Village. The findings show that the Osing community in Kemiren Village experiences alienation during the development of the tourist village. Although their involvement was minimal in the planning stage, positive adaptation was observed in the implementation phase, particularly in preserving local culture and boosting the economy through tourism activities. Active participation in the implementation stage reduces the sense of alienation, but more inclusive involvement is necessary to ensure a fairer distribution of benefits. More inclusive involvement and empowerment strategies focused on the local community are essential to reduce alienation and improve the economic, social, and cultural well-being of the Osing community in Kemiren Tourism Village. These findings provide a foundation for designing more sustainable and equitable tourism village development policies.

Abstract

The FIRZA (Factual, Interpretations, Reconstruction, Zeitgeist for Real Life Actions) document-based history learning model was developed based on history learning problems; a). Lack of understanding of historical concepts in teachers and students, b). Problems in history textbooks that contain elements of subjectivity, c). Lack of use of primary sources of history. The research method used is research and development (R&D) with the design of Dick & Carey (2015) and using communicative action theory as a foundation for developing the FIRZA learning model. The purpose of this research is to develop a document-based history learning model, namely with historical methodology, and coverage of historical skills strands. The result of the research is that the FIRZA learning model has 5 syntaxes. This model aims to train students' thinking through learning strategies and methods with historiography exercises and evaluation through document-based questions to support understanding of historical concepts, facts, and narrative skills. FIRZA learning model was developed for interactive and progressive learning by encouraging students to be able to imagine, live the spirit of the times, and dialogue with the symptoms of past events to support historical awareness and implementation of historical thinking skills in real action. The results of this study are; 1). FIRZA learning model is effective for use in school education and higher education; 2). The results of this learning model can support the effectiveness of historical teaching materials for students with data ranging from 95% of students being able to understand and contextualize the material learned in real life.

Abstract

Reporting about adolescents in the mass media has a tendency towards criminal acts and delinquent behavior. The aim of this research is to look at the representation of the word 'remaja' in the online media Detikcom from 2022 to 2024 based on a corpus-assisted discourse study. This research uses a mixed approach, with the data source in the form of a corpus composed of Detikcom news articles related to adolescent issues. The corpus has a total number of 325,313 tokens and 26,652 types of words. Through collocation analysis, 45 noun, adjectival, and verbal collocates were taken (15 collocates per word class), which significantly collocated with the word remaja. There are words that explicitly show negative meanings, such as kenakalan, tawuran, gerombolan, mesum, ugal-ugalan, brutal, sadis, mabuk, and tewas. Apart from that, there are also two words that show positive meanings, such as romantis and mengatasi. From the semantic prosody analysis, it can be seen that the word remaja tends to collocate with words that have negative prosody. Based on the concordance lines that have been studied, it was found that there were many crime news that featured adolescents either as perpetrators or as victims of crime. The most frequently found semantic prosody category was negative absolute with 26 collocates, followed by the flexible extremely negative category with 13 collocates. Meanwhile, both the absolute positive and the flexible extremely positive category only have 3 collocates. It can be said that society's view of adolescents is not much different from online media, which is dominated by negative news about adolescents. This ultimately shapes adolescent discourse, which can influence how adolescents are seen and treated in society.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a hypothetical learning model to strengthen the implementation of deep learning approaches in senior high schools (SMA). The research employs a qualitative methodology utilizing a 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). In the Define stage, a needs analysis was conducted to identify problems and instructional requirements in sociology education. This was achieved through in-depth interviews with sociology teachers, driving teachers, school principals, and an extensive literature review. The findings informed the foundational concepts and specific needs for a deep learning- focused instructional framework. The Design stage involved developing the ISMAIL learning Model, which stands for Inovatif (Innovative), Sistematis (Systematic), Mandiri (Independent), Aktif (Active), Interaktif (Interactive), and Lestari (Sustainable). The design was guided by educational theories emphasizing critical thinking, active engagement, and sustainable learning practices. In the Develop stage, the model underwent iterative testing in controlled educational settings to refine its application and effectiveness. Feedback from educators and students was used to optimize the model for fostering deeper cognitive engagement and comprehensive skill development. Finally, the Disseminate stage focused on sharing the refined ISMAIL learning Model through academic publications, workshops, and seminars to promote its adoption and adaptability in diverse educational contexts. This methodological framework demonstrates the model’s capacity to support the integration of deep learning principles in sociology education, aiming to enhance students’ understanding, foster active participation, and develop critical social competencies. Future research is necessary to validate the model’s effectiveness and explore its potential across varied educational settings.
