Abstract

In 2015, the Health Office of Banyumas Regency records 7 cases of maternal deaths, 243 cases of infant deaths, and 41 cases of under-five deaths. Compared to 2015, maternal mortality increases in the first three months of 2016. This research aims to identify the causes of maternal deaths that occur in 2016 in Banyumas Regency using the Health Belief Model conceptual framework. The results show that the cause of maternal death in Banyumas Regency is the lack of antenatal services due to the lack of knowledge and awareness of mothers, social status of women in the community, availability of health facilities, vulnerabilities received, benefits of antenatal services, barriers to access to health services, and quality of health facilities and health workers. The problem solving plan is based on the HBM concept framework that can be prepared consisting of stakeholder advocacy, health promotion programs through counseling for pregnant women, programs to improve access to health facilities, and intervention programs for health workers.

Abstract

Traditional children’s games at school have the potential to decrease the prevalence of obesity which tends to increase. Modifications and standardization of the game are needed so that the game can be implemented. The research objective is to develop a modified softball game model and test its effectiveness for improving nutritional status and physical fitness level of elementary school students. The development research design was used to produce the modified softball game model. Field trials of 27 elementary school fifth grade students were carried out with a one group before and after intervention design. The effectiveness of the model was assessed by changes in Z score of body mass index and physical fitness level before and after the intervention. The results of this research prove that the modified softball game model is valid and relevant to the physical education review. Application of the modified softball game model also proved effective in improving the nutritional status and physical fitness level of elementary school students. In the context of overcoming the problem of over nutrition in school-age children, it is recommended that schools and related stake holders implement the modified softball game model consistently.

Abstract

Depression is a common mental disorder, characterized by persistent sadness and a loss of interest in activities that you normally enjoy, accompanied by an inability to carry out daily activities, for at least two weeks. Female prisoners represent groups at risk of depression where depression in prisoners is more vulnerable to female prisoners than men. This study aims to determine the factors associated with depression among prisoners in Women’s Class II-A Prison Jakarta. The study design used was cross-sectional with multivariate analysis, multiple logistic regression. The number of research samples is 200 prisoners taken using random sampling techniques. The results showed that the prevalence of depression among prisoners in Women’s Class II-A Prison Jakarta is 56,5%. Based on the results of the multivariate analysis, it can be seen that factors related significantly to depression are age (p-value = 0.012; POR = 2.144; 95% CI = 1.185 - 3.879) and recidivism status (p-value = 0.043; POR = 3.926; 95% CI = 1,047 –14,729) which the most influential factor on the incidence of depression is recidivism status. Government attention needs to be given to the mental health of prisoners by conducting various mental health programs and services such as regular screening and rehabilitation programs.

Abstract

Adolescent fertility is an important health and social problem because it is related to the level of morbidity and mortality of mothers and children. The results of the 2017 IDHS show that 7% of women aged 15-19 are already mothers, 5% have given birth, and 2% are pregnant with their first child. The data shows that adolescents are already sexually active, but still have an understanding of low reproductive health. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of community-based health communication models that developed to improve access to information and public knowledge related to contraceptive methods in young married couples in Rembang Regency in 2019. This research  used Research and Development design with a quasi-experimental data collection method. The population in this study were adolescents who married at a young age in Rembang District, while the sample was adolescents who married young in Sedan and Kragan villages (intervention group), Menoro and Ngasinan (control group). Quantitative data analysis uses univariate, bivariate, and multivariate, while for qualitative data use grounded theory. The effectiveness test showed significant data for knowledge (p = 0,000), attitudes (p = 0.003), access to information (0.012), preferences (p = 0.001), and access to contraception (p = 0,000). It can be concluded that the community-based health communication model can improve knowledge, attitudes, access to information, preferences, and access related to contraception in early married couples

Abstract

ECG is a routine, accessible, inexpensive, and non-invasive tool for diagnosis of CVD and has been commonly described in medical reports as a suitable diagnostic tool for assessing ‘silent’ heart disease. An observational descriptive study, in Gisikdrono Urban Communities, found 72% elderly with hypertension, and higher than the reported national prevalence in 2013 (25.8%). We gained 38% of elderly with abnormal ECG which is: 5% Old myocardial infarction, 3% IMO Anteroseptal, 5% LVH, 8% LAD, 3%) of Inferior Ischemia, 3% dysrhythmia, and 13% bradycardia, without complaint of heart disease before. Aging became one of the factors of declining protection in the heart and increases the risk of destruction of heart failure. Considering examination of other organs that can affect the cause of heart anomalies to the elderly and expected to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining the blood pressure.

Abstract

One of the informal sectors that absorbs labors in Indonesia is informal work in the household. This job can absorb workers but having health problems and safety risks if they do not apply safe behavior. Factors influence safe behavior are knowledge and motivation. This study is to determine the relationship of knowledge and motivation to safe behavior in the informal sector female workers. This research is cross-sectional quantitative observational design. The sample are 45 workers. The independent variables are knowledge and motivation. The dependent variable is safe behavior. The instrument is questionnaire. Research data is analyzed by chi-square. The result of the study showed no significant relationship between knowledge and safe behavior (p=0,496>0,05). Chi square analysis showed there is no significant relationship between motivation and safe behavior with p=0.545> 0.05. This study gives insignificant results, so the next researcher can discuss more factors that influence safe behavior with different research methods so that they can enrich new findings in the field of Occupational Safety and Health, both of which later give significant or insignificant results. Therefore, this research is important to be published. The conclusion from the study is no significant relationship between knowledge and motivation to safe behavior.

Abstract

Vision is one of the most important factors in the education process. Abnormalities of visual acuity in school-age children will impact their achievement. Myopia is appointed by WHO as one priority to restrain and prevent world blindness in 2020. Refraction disorder is third rank (0.14%) of blindness cause in Indonesia after cataract (0.78%) and glaucoma (0.20%). Jakarta itself has a 0.5% incidence of refraction disorder. This study was aimed to discover which factors determined the most to declining visual acuity which caused myopia. This was anobservational analytic study with a cross-sectional design from August – October 2017. The samples were all 144 students of fifth and sixth grade at Public Primary School (SDN) 07 Pondok Labu South Jakarta that compiled the criteria. Bivariate analysis results obtained that relation between risk factors with myopia occurrence with p-value of myopia family history 0.048 [OR=2.17(1.07-4.40)], knowledge 0.961 [OR=0.76(0.29-1.99) and, OR=0.90(0.39-2.05)], attitude 0.947 [OR=0.92(0.46-1.83)], behavior 0.149 [OR=0.43(0.18-1.02) and, OR=0.72 (0.32-1.63)], screen time 1.000[OR=0.99(0.51-1.91)], reading position 0.497 [OR=1.40(0.66-2.99)] dan reading distance 0.283 [OR=2.00(0.71-5.58)]. In conclusion, there was a relation between myopia family history with visual acuity and there was no relation between knowledge, attitude, behavior, screen time, reading position, dan reading distance with visual acuity. The main cause of myopia is the long anteroposterior axis of bulbus oculi that inherited from parents to children.
