Abstract

Background: The Anopheles mosquito is a mosquito that causes malaria vector-borne disease which is still a global health problem today. Kalait Raya Villages have such environmental and community behavioural factors that are thought to support the breeding of Anopheles mosquitoes. Therefore, it is important to carry out survey of Anopheles mosquitoes in order to formulate more effective control of malaria vector-borne diseases for local communities. Aim: To determine the presence of Anopheles sp. mosquitoes in Kalait Raya Villages. Methods: This research is a descriptive type of research with a cross-sectional design. Capturing mosquito larvae is carried out using scoops at several points which are suspected to be breeding sites for Anopheles sp. mosquitoes, while for adult mosquitoes it is carried out using a sweeping method with a net in places where mosquitoes usually rest. Result: A total of 270 larvae were caught, namely 171 mosquito larvae in puddles on the banks of rivers, 87 larvae in puddles of water around residents’ houses, and 12 larvae in puddles of water around springs. There were 49 adult mosquitoes caught, 13 of which were caught on the first visit, 8 on the second visit, 16 on the third visit, and 12 on the fourth visit. Conclusion: There were 27 Anopheles sp. larvae caught. The adult mosquitoes were 10 An. barbirostris and 4 An. balabacensis. Keywords: Malaria, vector, Anopheles mosquito larvae, adult Anopheles mosquito, genus

Abstract

Background: Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) is one of the most common chronic liver diseases and has become a health burden throughout the world over the last two decades. Hypertension, dyslipidemia, obesity, and insulin resistance are considered risk factors for PGK that overlap with the metabolic comorbidity of NAFLD. Several studies reported that the prevalence and risk of PGK events increased significantly in NAFLD patients compared with patients without NAFLD. Aim: To determine the relationship between controlled attenuation parameter scores, transient elastography, and FIB-4 scores with eGFR values in NAFLD patients. Methods: This was an analytical study with a retrospective approach and used a cross-sectional design. The subjects were taken using consecutive sampling technique. Data collection on CAP scores, TE scores, FIB-4 scores, and eGFR was carried out by looking at the patients' medical records. In this study, the Pearson correlation statistical test was used. Result: Correlation test results between CAP scores and eGFR showed a significant positive correlation (r=0.296; p=0.031), between TE scores and eGFR showed a non-significant positive correlation (r=-0.093; p=0.509), and FIB-4 score with eGFR showed a significant negative correlation (r=-0.281; p=0.042). Conclusion: There is a significant positive correlation between the CAP score and eLFG, a non-significant positive correlation between the TE score and eGFR, and a significant negative correlation between the FIB-4 score and eGFR. Keywords: CAP score, TE score, FIB-4 score, eGFR

Abstract

According to 2021 data, the number of Indonesia children with autism has increased to 2.4 million. Government established the UPTD Autism Service Centre (PLA) which handle early age autism therapy, which later changed to UPTD for Handling Children with Special Needs (PSBK) which broaden to early age children with special needs. However, the long therapy period (6 months to 5 years), limited therapist staff, and limited equipment creating a long queue therapy service, has caused anxiety among parents of Children with Special Needs (ABK). This was a descriptive quantitative method research with univariate data analysis techniques, with univariable: "anxiety". We used observation, interview and documentation techniques to collect data. The primary subjects were parents of ABK at UPTD PSBK Southeast Sulawesi Province. Secondary data is obtained from library materials, literature, previous research, books, journals, and so on. We described the processed data by using tabulation.. The research showed that the anxiety of the parents was predominantly at a moderate level of anxiety, namely 47%. Moderate levels of anxiety tend to make individuals selective and alert. From the results of this research, researchers provide suggestions for parents to manage their stress so that it does not cause anxiety which can have a negative impact on parents, children and family/relatives around them. The UPTD institution for Handling Special Needs Students (PSBK) of Southeast Sulawesi Province may consider to increase the number and the quality of the therapists. This may help in shortening the duration of queuing, having more hours of therapy and making better performance institution. Keywords: anxiety, parents, children with special deeds, UPTD PSBK

Abstract

Adolescence, from 10 years to 24 years, is the transitional stage when a child becomes an adult. This is a critical stage that affects the quality of life and adulthood. Family doctors, the first point of contact for healthcare services, play an important role in ensuring the growth and development of adolescents' lives. Family doctors have an advantage in supporting adolescent mental health, because of their comprehensive knowledge regarding patients and their families as well as their relationship with society or the community. The role of family doctors is discussed in the five star doctor concept.

Abstract

Background: Body mass index (BMI) is a simple anthropometric measurement by measuring height and weight to determine a person's nutritional status. Pulmonary function test is one way that can be done to measure FEV1 (Forced Expiratory Volume 1 Second)/FVC (Forced Vital Capacity), namely by using spirometer as a tool to measure lung function. Lung function can decrease as BMI increases. In the parameters of lung function, there is an abnormal lung volume of respiratory efficiency in people who are obese. Aim: To determine the relationship between BMI and FEV1/FVC in Unsrat Faculty of Medicine students batch 2023. Methods: Analytical research type with cross-sectional study design with purposive sampling technique measuring height and weight to calculate BMI and measuring FEV1/FVC using a spirometer data analysis using the spearman rho test. Results: BMI less as many as 6 people (7.1%), normal BMI amounted to 41 people (48.8%), BMI more / overweight amounted to 14 people (16.7%), BMI obesity 1 as many as 18 people (21.4%) and BMI obesity II as many as 5 students (6.0%). There were 80 people (95.2%) who had normal FEV1/FVC values, for mild FEV1/FVC values there were 3 students (3.5%), and for moderate FEV1/FVC values there were 1 student (1.2%). The results of the Spearman correlation test significance value p=0.120, which means H0 is accepted and H1 is rejected. Conclusion: There is no relationship between BMI and FEV1/FVC in students of the Faculty of Medicine Batch 2023, Sam Ratulangi University Manado. Keywords: body mass index, FEV1/FVC

Abstract

Background: The respiratory system plays an important role in the human body. However, body mass index (BMI) affects lung volume, and obesity is associated with changes in lung volume. Obesity can also reduce static and dynamic lung volumes. Aim: To determine the relationship between adolescent BMI and forced vital capacity (FVC). Methods: This study uses an analytical observational research design using a cross-sectional study research design. Sampling is done using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection by measuring body weight and height to calculate body mass index, and measuring FVC using a spirometer. Data analysis using normality test and Spearman correlation test. Results: Data normality tests were the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and were not normally distributed data. We used the Spearman correlation test to determine whether there was a relationship between FVC and BMI using SPSS Statistics. The results obtained were a correlation coefficient value of 0.288 with p-value =0.008 (p=<0.05), which means there is a relationship between FVC and BMI. Conclusion: There is a significant positive relationship between FVC and body mass index, where the higher the FVC, the higher the body mass index. Keywords: body mass index, forced vital capacity (FVC)
