Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of employing the photovoice method within the framework of Participatory Action Research (PAR) to enhance senior high school students’ awareness of the dangers of sexual violence in educational settings. Through a participatory approach involving photography, narrative construction, and group discussion, students were encouraged to identify various forms of sexual violence, understand the underlying contributing factors, and formulate prevention strategies relevant to their school context. The findings indicate that photovoice is not only effective as an educational medium but also strengthens students’ active engagement, fosters spaces for critical reflection, and promotes the development of an open and inclusive dialogical culture within schools. The implications of this study highlight the importance of synergy among educational practices, school policies, and psychosocial support services in creating a safe learning environment. Although this research is limited to a specific school context with a relatively small number of participants, the results provide valuable contributions to the development of school counseling programs, educational policy, and future studies with broader scope.

Abstract

Assessing the CAAS among VHS students provides insights into the students' career adaptability concerning the transition from VHS to the workforce. While the CAAS is used concerning students' adaptability within the VHS curriculum, there is a lack of development of an appropriate and validated indonesian version of the CAAS for VHS students. The CAAS consists of the core dimensions of concern, control, curiosity, and confidence. This study sought to culturally adapt the CAAS, develop its validation, and assess the reliability of the CAAS within an educational context, with the CAAS focused specifically on VHS students. The sample consisted of 396 students from 9th and 10th grade. Data were analysed using CFA and multigroup invariance testing. Internally, the CAAS dimensions achieved distributive achievement of CAAS dimensions and contained acceptable convergent reliabilities. However, there were some CAAS dimensions which contained low AVEs. However, the model fit indices, achieving 0.943 and an RMSEA of 0.056, suggest a good model fit. In particular, multigroup invariance testing, which obtained configurational, metric, scalar, and strict invariance, further strengthened the index and model fit testing. With proven validation and reliability, the Indonesian version of the CAAS measures the career adaptability of vocational high school students; this demonstrates its value for vocational schools in developing sharper career guidance for students. Considering other variables related to career development, future studies should focus on predictive validity and other educational levels. Further research should assess the predictive validity with other career development variables and extend to other educational levels.

Abstract

Social interaction plays a crucial role in student development, influencing communication skills, cooperation, and adaptability in the school environment. However, some students still struggle to interact with their peers, which can impact their social and academic development. One strategy to enhance students’ social interaction is group guidance services, which provide structured communication and group support. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of group guidance services in improving the social interactions of eighth-grade students at Budi Agung Junior High School, Medan. This study employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group design. The sample consists of 20 students divided into an experimental and a control group. The results indicate a significant improvement in the social interactions of the experimental group, with the average score increasing from 56.80 to 70.30, whereas the control group increased from 58.90 to 63.50. These findings demonstrate that group guidance services effectively enhance students’ social interactions. Therefore, their implementation is recommended in educational settings with more diverse approaches.

Abstract

This study explores a growing challenge in education Generation Z students who exhibit academic buoyancy without demonstrating responsibility or acknowledging academic shortcomings. Using a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, the research uncovers a prevalent “Not My Fault” mindset: students maintain confidence and motivation despite academic underperformance while externalizing blame and lacking self-awareness. The findings reveal that peer influence, digital culture, and a surface-level academic environment contribute to the illusion of resilience. These students often equate confidence with competence, masking deeper issues of disengagement and poor self-regulation. The study also highlights the role of educational culture in reinforcing passive learning attitudes, where critical thinking and self-reflection are rarely emphasized. This paradox presents an emerging and urgent challenge for educators: how to develop future-ready learners who are not only confident, but also critically aware and accountable for their growth. The insights from this research can inform the design of more adaptive, values-based educational strategies to support both emotional development and authentic academic progress.

Abstract

Various forms of crime and immoral acts in the handling of children and adolescents show that our students have not a good character. This indicates the need for character education that is appropriate for the child, which is not just knowledge and doctrine but rather reaches the emotional area. In the process of forming qualified human beings, character education is necessary for people not only to know virtue (knowing the good) but also feel (feeling the good), love (loving the good), want (desiring the good) and doing good (acting the good).
