Abstract

This study examines the need for an Islamic prophetic counseling development model. To achieve this goal, we used a mixed-method. The research subjects involved 244 students and four academic supervisors, and the research instruments were a noble character questionnaire and interview guidelines. Qualitative data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman models, namely through data reduction, presentation, conclusion, and verification steps. While quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results of the study show: (1) there was no program designed in a systematic, comprehensive manner that touches the basic needs of students' moral development; (2) the ratios, content, and strategies in the ongoing guidance program had not met the standards and principles of guidance for all so that the process and objectives were not optimal; (3) there was a tendency for the behavior of some students to lead to moral decline; (4) understanding and practice of Islamic law as two determinant factors that affect the character of new students reached 27% and 16%; (5) the results of the student morality questionnaire showed that most (70.8%) were in the human category and (6) most of the students (97%) wanted a prophetic counseling model to develop noble character.

The research design and analysis techniques were a qualitative survey by distributing open questionnaires online to counseling teachers in junior and senior high school. The result of the research showed that the knowledge of participants about mental health in the school was less comprehensive. Most of the responses explained the emotional aspect (35%), whereas other aspects of knowledge (cognitive, habits, self-control, and social) are lower. Besides, knowledge about mental health in the school showed 26% of participant responses related to knowledge from the health aspect, whereas knowledge from being and loving aspect was lower. Another finding of this research was that most (57%) cases often handled by the participant are teenage naughtiness cases such as bullying, smoking, and stealing. Recommendations from this research are we need psychoeducation training and mental health for counseling teachers in the school.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between personality, mindset, and academic motivation of Grit students in high school. Who used the ex post facto quantitative method with simple random sampling to take a sample of 80. The instrument has four variables: personality, mindset, academic motivation, and Grit. The data analysis technique used multiple regression analysis. The results of the hypothesis show that the personality variable with t count > t table is (3.123 > 1.996), mindset variable with t count > t table (2.208 > 1.996) and academic motivation variable with t count > t - table (11.02 > 1,996). These data indicate that overall, all Ho is rejected, and Ha is accepted of the three variables. Based on the Simultaneous test results (F test), the significance value of the personality, mindset, and academic motivation variables is smaller than the significance value of 0.000 <0.05. So we can conclude that the variables of personality, mindset, and academic motivation simultaneously have a relationship with Grit in high school students.

Abstract

Teenagers often become victims and perpetrators of body shaming carried out by those closest to them, such as family, community, and friends, by joking. Ignorant adolescents will not respond to these comments, but adolescents who cannot accept comments from their environment tend to blame themselves. This study aims to determine the effect of body shaming on self-blaming in students of SMP Negeri 27 Banjarmasin. This study used an observational method with a cross-sectional design and random sampling and obtained 239 samples. The analysis technique uses simple linear regression. The instruments used in this study were the body shaming scale by Vargas and the self-blaming scale by Coleman. The independent variable in this study is body shaming, and the dependent variable is self-blame. The results showed that there was an effect of body shaming on self-blaming in students of SMP Negeri 27 Banjarmasin. This study concluded that body shaming by students of SMP Negeri 27 Banjarmasin was classified as very high and resulted in students who were victims of body shaming experiencing moderate self-blaming. There is a significant influence between body shaming and self-blaming on students.

Abstract

The challenge for future counselors is using technology in counseling. Online counseling is a strategy that can be applied amid the counselee’s doubts about the effectiveness of existing counseling services. This study aims to identify the point of online counseling services from various counseling service settings. The qualitative systematic literature review design is sourced from 9 scientific journals through the semantic scholar database and has been reputable from 2013-2022. The PRISMA flow diagram model is presented—data analysis of 9 articles (out of 588 invalids) through descriptive narrative. The data findings show that it is more effective than face-to-face. School, college, addiction, health, and community counselors can apply for it. Telephone, chat, video, and text features can support multiple counseling approaches. Counselors need to develop the skills and competencies of counselors with online counseling through training and webinars.

Abstract

In implementing guidance and counseling services at schools, adolescent problems have been a classic problem for a long time. During adolescence, known as the storm and stress period, emotions tend to be explosive and uncontrollable. They tend to blow up their feelings towards their parents or siblings. For some families, the situation brings them into family conflict. Families who only deal with the problem behavior will make the symptoms more persistent, known as the symptomatic family cycle. Micucci argues that the root of the problem is not in the problematic behavior of adolescents but in the patterns of interaction within the family. This article uses a literature review focusing on debriefs on the Micucci book. We found that the most crucial role of the counselor is to help families change symptom-related patterns of interaction. The main principle: The therapist or counselor replaces automatic and reactive responses among family members with more thoughtful and planned responses. Family therapy has five stages: beginning, identification, reframing, core treatment, and addition. Based on Micucci’s guidelines, the family therapy process requires all the competencies: pedagogic, personality, social, and professional. Personal competence and professional competence become the basis of the therapy process, while pedagogic competence and social competence complement and support the success of the family therapy process. Family therapy can be an alternative for the counselor to help adolescents with symptomatic problems.

Abstract

This study aims to look at the role of counselors in shaping students' self-happiness in inclusive schools at Muhammadiyah Curup junior high school. Self-happiness is an important thing that must exist in inclusive group rooms; therefore, counselors need to understand the characteristics of students to unite normal children and children with special needs with the same curriculum and learning process. In inclusive schools, it is found that bullying of children with special needs still occurs, and the learning process in inclusive groups is relatively slow and constrained, making ordinary students bored and upset. The approach used is qualitative with a grounded theory design. The data will be interpreted in a naturalistic way to overcome the problems in this study. Data interpretation and a naturalistic approach will provide answers related to the counselor's role in developing students' self-happiness in the inclusion group of Muhammadiyah Curup junior high school. The research subjects were counselors, subject teachers, principals, normal children, children with special needs, and parents of children with special needs. Data collection was done voluntarily by building good interactions without coercion and carefully selecting informants. Data were analyzed using three levels of analysis: open coding (forming categories of information about the event or phenomenon under study), axial coding (solving for core themes during qualitative data analysis), and selective coding (selective coding to find significant categories). The results revealed that the role of counselors is to build collective consciousness with the quality and quantity of empathy, positive relationships, emotional attachment and connection, and meaningfulness of life for oneself and others.

Abstract

Catcalling is a form of sexual harassment occurs in public spaces, so it has an impact on victims, who are primarily women. The impact felt by the victim is not visible physically but psychologically, such as the emergence of feelings of fear, anxiety, discomfort, disgust, and even a deep sense of trauma. The research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method with a microscopic approach and using the theory of Feminism, which is centred on women. The purpose of writing this article is to describe verbal sexual violence and provide knowledge about the prevalence of catcalling and the impact of it in society. The catcalling phenomenon seems ordinary and commonplace in society, so it is very meaningful to discuss; the more often the phenomenon occurs, the more victims there will be. The study results show that society still tolerates catcalling; it is considered even a compliment or a joke.
