Abstract

Integrating technology in teaching and learning process has been a new phenomenon nowadays. Teachers need to use some kinds of technology in order to move from the conventional way to the new one and reach the learning objective more maximally. In fact, some teachers do not want to use technology in their teaching process because of their limited facilities and knowledge. One of supporting frameworks to this condition is the use of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge or known as TPACK. In relation with it, this paper is intended to investigate English teachers’ perception about the use of TPACK in their EFL learning. The subjects are 10 English teachers who teach in some of Senior High Schools in South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province. The data were gained using questionnaire and interview. Then, it was analyzed using descriptive qualitative method. The result then indicated that English teachers have good perception toward the use of TPACK in EFL learning.

Abstract

Multimodal text is one of the media in learning English reading courses commonly used in this advanced technology era, since multimodal texts combine a variety of modes, such as visual and auditory. Moreover, multimodal texts have several positive effects on improving students’ reading ability, especially reading comprehension. However, reading aloud without comprehending the text's meaning still probably occurs among EFL students in Indonesia. Thus, this research aims to explore the students’ responses to multimodal texts in learning reading courses and the contribution of multimodal texts to the student’s reading comprehension. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. A questionnaire and a test were applied to collect the data. Fourteen ninth-grade students of MTs Miftahul Huda were chosen as participants. The result shows that most students responded positively to multimodal texts in the learning reading course. Multimodal texts may make the students enjoy, be interested, and be motivated in the learning process and help them understand the information in the text. It may also have a good contribution to the students’ reading comprehension. Nevertheless, the role of the teacher is critical in the learning process. Teachers can use a variety of multimodal texts in teaching reading course to take the advantage of multimodal texts in learning reading course

Abstract

With the increasing influence of technology in education, it is critical to comprehend how prepared future educators are to employ ICT technologies for language instruction. This research aims to determine the level to which pre-service English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers are prepared to use media based on information and communication technology (ICT) in the context of listening skills development. The research focuses on higher education students pursuing EFL teacher training programs and looks at how they use ICT-based media to shed light on their attitudes, skills, and perceived barriers. This study employs a descriptive quantitative research method, utilizing a questionnaire to assess the preparedness of 100 pre-service EFL teachers for using ICT-based media in language learning, particularly in listening classes, with data analyzed through charts and narrative explanations. The results of this study are expected to add to the existing knowledge regarding the use of technology in language teaching. Furthermore, this study can offer useful suggestions for integrating ICT-based media into improving listening abilities and encouraging more efficient and interesting language learning environments in EFL classrooms

Using an adapted model. In this study, researchers used the checklist method as a research instrument. The frequency and steps of agreement in this study were determined manually. This study was analyzed by tabulating frequency data and providing examples of the moves and steps seen in the video. It was found that 2 moves had a frequency of 100% and 3 steps of 12 steps analyzed had a frequency of 100%. The moves are Introduction and Content. Steps with a frequency of 100% are Greeting the audience, Hortatory/narration, and presenting an argument. Meanwhile, 3 steps with a 90% - 95% frequency are announcing the topic, suggestion, and thanking. There are 2 steps that never appear in this study: outlining structure/indicating scope and describing a process/series of events. Abstract

Indonesia has the latest curriculum, namely the independent curriculum, whose learning is holistic and based on the CEFR level.  However, in practice, the learning and teaching still uses traditional pedagogy that relies on the left brain and focuses only on grammar (linguistics).  This fact is supported by evidence of a decline in the English proficiency index (EPI) in 2022 which shows that Indonesia is at a low level (ranked 81 out of 111 countries). In his latest research, Sudimantara (2021) develops a new pedagogy (Multisensorial Load Reduction Strategies) that activates the nonverbal components of language (rhythm, intonation, movement, emotion, and aesthetics). Another research by A,-P Lian & Cai (2021) also introduces a Verbotonal Approach which emphasizes prosodic information (intonation and rhythm) to rearrange the learner’s perception of the language being learned thereby facilitating language learning. In line with previous research, this research provides an innovative development of digital literacy resources for multisensory English learning based on CEFR. This research uses qualitative development with R&D (Research and Development) design with the research step to be carried out (Analyzing, design, developing, and Evaluation). The results show that these digital literacy resources can be applied by teachers for student learning. This research is expected that digital literacy can be further developed for multisensory learning which is beneficial for language learning.Keywords: CEFR-Based Learning, Digital Resources, Multisensory
