Abstract

Abstract: This correlational research is aimed to find out whether there is a significant correlation between self-efficacy and the listening comprehension of the eighth semester students of English Study Program FKIP-UR. The sample was 35 students selected through purposive sampling technique. The instruments used in this research were the questionnaire on self-efficacy and the documentation of the students’ TOEFL listening comprehension score provided by the Language Centre of Universitas Riau. The research findings revealed that the self-efficacy of the eighth semester students of English Study Program FKIP-UR was at the average level (180.60), and their listening comprehension was at the mediocre level (49.83). The cross tabulation analysis showed that the students who had higher self-efficacy had a high tendency to have better listening comprehension score level. Based on Pearson correlation analysis, it was obtained that the correlation coefficient between students’ self-efficacy and the listening comprehension was 0.786 with the Sig. value=0.00. Hence, it could be concluded that there was a significant correlation between self-efficacy and the listening comprehension of the eighth semester students of English Study Program FKIP-UR. The interpretation of the correlation coefficient showed that there was a strong positive correlation between both variables. As a consequence, the null hypothesis was rejected.Key Words: Correlation, Self-efficacy, Listening Comprehension

Abstract

ABSTRAKThe research was done in MA YPKM Lubuk Jambi, in the second semester of academic year 2012/2013. The subjects were students of class XI IPS. There is a class of 15 students, consisting of 9 men and 6 women who have heterogeneous capabilities. The purpose of this research is to improve mathematics learning outcomes, especially in basic competencies using derivatives to determine the characteristics of a function and solve the problem, the basic competencies devised a mathematical model of the problems associated with extreme functionality and basic competency describes mathematical models of the problems associated with extreme functionality and interpretation through problem-solving strategies in tife STAD cooperative learning model.This study is a class action. There are two cycles and four stages, planning, action, observation and reflection. The results showed that an increase in student achievement. The first cycle shows that the percentage of students who receive a minimum completeness criteria of 20% to 26.7%. While in the second cycle, the percentage achievement of minimum completeness criteria increased from 26.7% to 86.7%, in other words, the implementation of the application of problem solving strategies in STAD cooperative learning model to improve learning outcomes of students in class XI maths IPS MA YPKM Lubuk Jambi , on the basis of competence using derivatives to determine the characteristics of a function and solve the problem, the basic competencies devised a mathematical model of the problems associated with extreme functionality and basic competency describes mathematical models of the problems associated with extreme functionality and interpretation. Keywords: STAD cooperative, problem-solving strategies, classroom action research

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the misconception experienced by students in physics learning on static fluid material using Certain of Response Index (CRI) method at SMAN 7 Pekanbaru. This research was conducted from March to July 2017 with the subject of research is all students of class X in SMAN 7 Pekanbaru as many as 106 students. The type of research conducted is survey research. In this study, the data obtained were primary data and the instruments used to measure student misconceptions on static fluid materials were misconception tests. This misconception test consists of 20 items of multiple choice and is accompanied by CRI columns for each answer. CRI value shows the level of confidence of students in answering questions. The data have been analyzed descriptively. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the mean misconception of students on static fluid material was 42%, with misconceptions on each of the static fluid submissions such as hydrostatic pressure, Pascal's law, Archimedes law and surface tension, respectively: 41% 42%, 46% and 38%. Thus it can be concluded that the misconception experienced by the students of class X of SMAN 7 Pekanbaru on static fluid material is still quite high and the highest percentage of student misconception is found in the submateri Archimedes law.Keywords : Misconception, static fluid, CRI (certain of response index)

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research is to find out the level of students’ ability in reading comprehension and writing ability in recount texts and the correlation between those variables of the second year students of SMAN 1 Muaro Sentajo. The sample of this research was class XI IPS 2 which consist 25 students. The data were collected by using two kinds of test, reading comprehension and written test. The result of this research showed that the students got good level with the average score 73.28 in reading comprehension, and in writing the students got good level with the average score 76.12. The result of this research proved that there is a positive correlation between reading comprehension and writing ability on recount texts. The rxy distribution of coefficient correlation is 0.8. It means that the correlation was in a high level. So, Ha (alternative hypothesis) of this research is accepted, and null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. Is there any difference between students’ reading and writing score? So, the researcher try to find out students’ reading and writing score and their correlation. Finally, the researcher suggests for the teacher, they should have some efforts to develop the students’ motivation and encourage them to practice their reading comprehension and writing ability in recount texts.Key words: Correlation, Reading Comprehension, Writing Ability, Recount Texts

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this study is to find out the level ability of the third year students of the English Study Program of FKIP Riau University in writing a narrative essay. The research design is a descriptive quantitative research. There are 25 students chosen as the samples of this research. The instrument of the research was a written test that was assessed by the three raters by referring Heaton’s scoring guide and Harris’ measurement. It was found that 3 students (12%) were in excellent level, 12 students (48%) were in good level, 9 students (36%) were in mediocre level, 1 student (4%) was in poor level, and there was no student in very poor level. It can be concluded that the students can write a narrative essay with the average score was 65,15. Overall, the students’ problems were dominated in category of language usage. Most of students made a lot mistakes in using tenses and constructing sentences.Key Words: Students, Ability, Writing, Narrative Essay

Abstract

Abstract: The problem of this research because low of IPS study result of the third grade students at SDN 06 Kadur, Rupat Utara subdistrict. KKM stated at school was 70. From 26 students, only 14 students that reached KKM (53,85%), whereas student did not still reach KKM yet were 12 students (46,15). With score mean of class was 64,04. For solving the problem, there for the researcher implement learning model of talking stick type. The goal of research was for increasing IPS study result of the third grade students at SDN 06 Kadur by implementing learning model of talking stick type. The research was classroom action research. The technique of collecting data by using observation and test. The result of research was collected at first meeting of cycles, the teacher’s activity on classification “enough” (54,17%), after at second meeting, that known the teacher’s activity on classification “good”(70,83%). at first meeting of cycles II, teacher’s activity on classification ”good”(79,16%), after at second meeting teacher’s activity on classification “very good”(87,60%). At first meeting cycle I, students’ activity on classification “poor”(45,83%), at second meeting students’ activity on classification ”good” (79,16%). At first meeting of cycles II, the students’ activity on classification “very good”(83,33%). At second meeting students’ activity on classification“very good”(91,66). At cycles 1 known that total of students reached KKM were 18 students (73,08%) with mean score 75,19. At cycles II, total of students reached KKM were 23 students (88,46%) with mean score 84,04. Based on this research can be concluded that by implementing cooperative learning model of talking stick type can increase IPS study result of the third grade students at SDN 06 Kadur sub-district Rupat Utara.Keywords: Cooperative of talking stick type, social studies students achievement

Abstract

ABSTRACT, research problem is the passing down skills of students in the game of volleyball is not so good, as expected. Many factors lead to low down the passing skills include agility factor owned by the students. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship agility with passing skills down mini volleyball athletes in SDN 34 Thickening District of Bengkalis. This type of research is correlational, the population is all students who participated in the training mini volleyball at SDN 34 Thickening District of Bengkalis, numbering as many as 20 people. The sample in this study were taken using total sampling technique. Thus the number of samples in this study amounted to as much as 20orang. The type of data in the study of primary data, data obtained directly from the respondents to test agility and passing skills tests below. While secondary data is data about the number of students who obtained from the Administrative Office of the school concerned. Data dinalasis by using product moment. Based on the analysis of data obtained rhitung 0.574> 0.444 rtabel means there is a significant correlation (meaning) between agility with passing skills down mini volleyball athletes in state elementary school SDN 34 Thickening District of Bengkalis, accepted the truth empirically.Keywords : Agility, passing skills down

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to find out how the learning culture of State JuniorHigh School Civics teachers in Singingi District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. As for thepopulation and sample in this study are all of the State Junior High School Civicsteachers in Singingi District, Kuantan Singingi Regency were 12 people. By using totalsampling technique.. Data collection techniques used are through observation,questionnaires, interviews and documentation. In analyzing the data using quantitativedescriptive methods. The results of this study indicate that the learning culture of StateJunior High School Civics Teachers in Singingi Subdistrict, Kuantan Singingi Regencyruns very well. This is evidenced by the data from respondents that 21.73% answered"Very Good", 72.48% answered "Good", 4.34% answered "Good enough" and 0.36%answered "Not Good". Based on the benchmark proposed by Suharsimi Arikunto(2010), the number of respondents who answered very well + good was 94.21% in therange of 75,01%-100% or very good. It is expected that with this research the teachercan maintain and also improve the culture of learning by innovating better and moreinteresting to support the students' learning spirit in the classroom.Key Words: Learning Culture, PKn teacher

Abstract

Abstract : Based on observations of researchers in early childhood Kuntum Mekar, found some symptoms or phenomena in children related to gross motor development is still low, this can be seen from fenopmena field namely 1) the existence of some children who are less able to throw in a focused until the ball can not be fixed on target. 2) lack of ability of some children in balancing the body, it ii noticeable when children throw a ball kid fell. 3) some children are less able to keep the body coordinating this is seen when the child is standing on one line and followed the line but the boy fell down and out of line, such as when the children were asked to jump over obstacles board but the boy just past the board titin to walk without jumping. 4) lack of ability of some children to run fast and focused. This research is a study with experimental approach is a study that seeks to influence specific variables other variables in strictly controlled conditions. The subject of research is PAUD Bud Bloom Pekanbaru numbering as many children as 14 children, consisting of 9 men and 5 women. Collecting data using observation and documentation. Based on the survey results revealed that 1) the ability of Motor Rough children aged 4-5 years in early childhood Blooming Bud Pekanbaru before being given treatment of the application of relatively low bowling ball game 2) gross motor ability of children aged 4-5 years in early childhood Blooming Bud Pekanbaru after being given treatment of the application of a bowling ball game has increased and is high 3) application of a bowling ball games have an impact for 19.64% of the gross motor skills of children aged 4-5 years in early childhood Blooming Bud Pekanbaru.Keywords : Bowling Ball game and Kids Rough Motoric Capabilities

Abstract

Abstract: Slang is confidential, informal English spoken which created and used by a particular community. This study discusses about an analysis of slang in Black Panther movie. The purpose of this study is to find the type and the meaning of slang used in a Black Panther movie. The source of the data was taken from the script of Black Panther movie. The Black Panther movie is classified as African action movies released on 14th February 2018 and directed by Ryan Coogler. The research design used in this study is descriptive qualitative research with a document or content analysis as the research type. This thesis described one by one word or phrase of slang found from Black Panther movie by using dictionaries and theory related about slang.From the analysis, there were three types of slangs, they were society slang, public house slang, and soldier slang. There were 8 words of society slang, 6 words of public house slang, and 1 word of soldier slang. Then the slang term in the form of words and phrases were classified and analyzed. The finding shows that there are some words and phrases of slang in Black Panther that have been classified into types of slang. The examples are Strap, Shit, Freeze, Baba, Guy, Chicks, Mate, and Feds.This research is expected to contribute to the reader's clear knowledge of slangs. It can assist the reader to talk fluent English. And fresh English vocabulary used in the daily discussion can also be anticipated to be enriched.Key Words: Slang, Movie, Black Panther
