Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji penerapan Good Dairy Farming Practise (GDFP) peternakan kambing Peranakan Etawa (PE) di kecamatan Gumelar, kabupaten Banyumas. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara survei terhadap empat desa yang dipilih dengan purposive sampling karena memiliki peternak kambing PE terbanyak, yaitu desa Gumelar (kelompok tani Pegumas), desa Cihonje (kelompok tani Tunas Mukti), desa Paningkaban (kelompok tani Satoguno) dan desa Cilangkap (kelompok tani Bondo Mertani). Pengumpulan data dilakukan berdasarkan wawancara yang terstruktur dan observasi pada 40 peternak yang terpilih sebagai sampel responden, terhadap 7 aspek GDFP, yaitu: a) pembibitan dan reproduksi; b) kesehatan ternak; c) higienitas pemerahan; d) nutrisi (pakan dan air); e) pengolahan; f) kandang dan peralatan dan g) kesejahteraan ternak. Masing–masing aspek mempunyai 3–8 pertanyaan dan skornya adalah 1–4 (sangat buruk-sangat baik). Data berupa hasil kajian berupa skor selanjutnya akan di uji menggunakan uji t untuk membandingkan tata laksana di keempat desa. Hasil penelitian menghasilkan rataan nilai semua aspek GDFP peternakan kambing PE di keempat desa di kecamatan Gumelar memiliki rata-rata skor berada dalam rentang 2,01–3,01. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa GDFP peternakan kambing PE di keempat desa di kecamatan Gumelar tergolong cukup baik dan tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan (P>0,05) dari hasil kajian dalam tata laksana di keempat desa. Meskipun penerapan GDFP di keempat desa tergolong cukup baik, diperlukan peningkatan pada aspek tertentu seperti pengelolaan dan higienitas pemerahan.Kata kunci: Good Dairy Farming Practices (GDFP), skoring, kambing PE, tatalaksana peternakanStudy of the Implementation of Good Dairy Farming Practices (GDFP) on Etawa Crossbreed Goat Farms in Gumelar District, Banyumas RegencyABSTRACT. This study aims to examine the implementation of Good Dairy Farming Practice (GDFP) for PE goat farming in Gumelar sub-district, Banyumas regency. This study was conducted by surveying four villages selected by purposive sampling because they have the most PE goat farmers, namely Gumelar village (Pegumas farmer group), Cihonje village (Tunas Mukti farmer group), Paningkaban village (Satoguno farmer group) and Cilangkap village (Bondo Mertani farmer group). Data collection was conducted based on structured interviews and observations of 40 farmers selected as respondent samples, on 7 aspects of GDFP, namely: a) breeding and reproduction, b) livestock health, c) milking hygiene, d) nutrition (feed and water), e) processing, f) pens and equipment, g) livestock welfare. Each aspect has 3-8 questions and the score is 1-4 (very bad - very good). Data in the form of study results in the form of scores will then be tested using the T test to compare governance in the four villages. The results of the study produced an average value of all aspects of the GDFP of PE goat farming in the four villages in Gumelar sub-district with an average score in the range of 2.01–3.01. It can be concluded that the GDFP of PE goat farming in the four villages in Gumelar sub-district is quite good and there is no significant difference (P>0.05) from the results of the study in governance in the four villages. Although the implementation of GDFP in the four villages is quite good, improvements are needed in certain aspects such as management and milking hygiene.

Abstract

Polled Bali cattle (PBC) are Bali cattle that do not naturally have horns. This study aims to compare quantitative and qualitative characteristics of PBC found in Bone and Barru Regencies, South Sulawesi. This study was conducted from June 2024 to March 2025. The number of samples aged 12 - 24 months, for quantitative characteristics using 80 heads each in Bone (40 heads) and Barru (40 heads), with a ratio of 20 males and 20 females. The qualitative characteristics used in PBC in Bone (62 heads), and in Barru (39 heads). This study used an independent samples t-test for quantitative traits and descriptive analysis for qualitative traits. The results showed that for quantitative traits, there were significant differences in withers height and body length between males from Bone and Barru, with cattle from Bone having a larger size. However, no significant differences were found in heart girth and all morphometrics for females. For qualitative traits, there are a dominant light brown coat color, black eyelid, white ear hair, white lip edge on the edge, black mouth lash, white legs (stocking) with clear boundaries, black hoof, thick backline, small dewlap size, and polled. Although they have many similarities, there are differences in several qualitative traits such as switch of tail color, body color pattern, tail length, and rump patch color. These results provide useful information regarding the differences in body dimensions of PBC in both regions, which can be the basis for planning more effective breeding and maintenance strategies.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Probiotik konsorsium merupakan kombinasi dari berbagai mikroorganisme yang saling bekerja sehingga menghasilkan manfaat yang lebih baik dibandingkan probiotik tunggal. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mendapatkan dosis pemberian probiotik konsorsium yang terbaik dilihat dari uji organoleptik daging broiler meliputi tekstur, rasa, warna dan aroma. Penelitian menggunakan ayam broiler yang dipelihara selama 35 hari dengan pemberian level probiotik konsorsium berbeda dalam air minum. Pakan yang digunakan adalah BR 1 Wonokoyo. P0 = pemberian level 0 ml probiotik konsorsium, P1 = pemberian level 0,5 ml probiotik konsorsium, P2 = pemberian level 1 ml probiotik konsorsium dan P3 = pemberian level 1,5 ml probiotik konsorsium dengan 5 kali pengulangan. Parameter yang diamati adalah tekstur, rasa, warna dan aroma daging. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan pemberian probiotik konsorsium pada ayam broiler memberikan pengaruh berbeda sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap tekstur daging, rasa daging, warna daging dan aroma daging. Hasil penelitian ini disimpulkan pemberian level 1 ml probiotik konsorsium pada ayam broiler diperoleh tekstur daging 4,40; rasa daging 4,31; warna daging 3,82 dan aroma daging 4,14.Kata kunci: Probiotik, konsorsium, tekstur, rasa, warnaThe Effect of Probiotic Consortium Dosage on the Organoleptic Quality of Broiler MeatABSTRACT. Consortium probiotics are a combination of various microorganisms that work together to produce better benefits than single probiotics. This research aimed to obtain the best dose of probiotic consortium based on organoleptic tests of broiler meat, including texture, taste, color, and aroma. This study used broiler chickens that were reared for 35 days by administering different levels of probiotic consortium in drinking water. The feed used is BR 1 Wonokoyo. P0 = Giving probiotic consortium level 0 ml, P1 = Giving probiotic consortium level 0.5 ml, P2 = Giving probiotic consortium level 1 ml, and P3 = Giving probiotic consortium level 1.5 ml with 5 times covered. The parameters observed were texture, taste, color, and aroma of meat. The results of this study showed that giving a probiotic consortium to broiler chickens had a very significantly different effect (P<0.01) on meat texture, meat taste, meat color, and meat aroma. From the results of this study, it was concluded that by administering 1 ml of the probiotic consortium to broiler chickens, the meat texture was 4.40, the meat taste was 4.31, the meat color was 3.82, and the meat aroma was 4.14.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Mastitis subklinis merupakan masalah kesehatan yang umum terjadi pada sapi perah, yang dapat berdampak negatif pada produktivitas susu dan kesehatan hewan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan manajemen pemerahan dengan kejadian mastitis subklinis dan kerusakan susu segar pada sapi perah di Kecamatan Baturraden dan Kecamatan Sumbang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei. Sasaran penelitian adalah peternak sapi perah dan sapi perah laktasi di Kecamatan Baturraden dan Kecamatan Sumbang, Kabupaten Banyumas, Jawa Tengah. Penentuan lokasi menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Sampel diambil secara sensus, yaitu 39 peternak yang ternaknya sedang dalam periode laktasi. Analisis data menggunakan analisis korelasi rank spearmen, chi square, dan uji t independent. Hasil analisis Rank Spearmen menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara manajemen pemerahan dengan kejadian mastitis subklinis di Kecamatan Baturraden dan Kecamatan Sumbang dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,02 dan 0,03. Hasil uji chi square menunjukkan bahwa H0 diterima yang artinya terdapat hubungan antara manajemen pemerahan dengan kerusakan susu segar di Kecamatan Baturraden dan Kecamatan Sumbang dengan nilai signifikansi 0,03 dan 0,001. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa semakin baik manajemen pemerahan yang dilakukan maka semakin menurun angka kejadian mastitis subklinis dan kerusakan susu di Kecamatan Baturraden dan Kecamatan Sumbang.Kata kunci: Manajemen pemerahan, penyakit mastitis subklinis, dan kerusakan susu segarThe Relationship Between Milking Management and the Incidence of Subclinical Mastitis and Fresh Milk Damage in Baturraden and Sumbang SubdistrictsABSTRACT. Subclinical mastitis is a common health problem in dairy cattle, negatively impacting milk productivity and animal health. This study aims to determine the relationship between milking management and the incidence of subclinical mastitis and fresh milk spoilage in dairy cattle in Baturraden and Sumbang Districts. This study used a survey method. The research targets were dairy farmers and lactating dairy cattle in Baturraden and Sumbang Districts, Banyumas Regency, Central Java. The location was determined using a purposive sampling method. Samples were taken through a census, namely, 39 farmers whose cattle were in the lactation period. Data analysis used Spearman rank correlation analysis, chi-square, and independent t-test. The results of the Spearman rank analysis showed a significant relationship between milking management and the incidence of subclinical mastitis in Baturraden and Sumbang Districts, with significance values of 0.02 and 0.03. The chi-square test results showed that H0 was accepted, meaning there was a relationship between milking management and fresh milk damage in Baturraden and Sumbang Districts, with a significance value of 0.03 and 0.001. This study concluded that the better the milking management, the lower the incidence of subclinical mastitis and milk damage in Baturraden and Sumbang Districts.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Ketersediaan pakan secara berkelanjutan dapat dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan ketersediaan sumber daya alam, salah satunya yaitu menggunakan teknologi silase dengan memanfaatkan jenis rumput rawa yaitu Bento Rayap (Leersia hexandra) dan bioaktivator mikroorganisme lokal (MOL) yang berasal dari bonggol pisang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan nutrisi silase rumput Bento Rayap dengan menggunakan MOL bonggol pisang. Parameter yang diamati meliputi kandungan protein kasar, lemak kasar dan serat kasar. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan, meliputi: P0: rumput Bento Rayap tanpa penambahan MOL (kontrol), P1: rumput Bento Rayap + 3% MOL bonggol pisang, P2: rumput Bento Rayap + 6% MOL bonggol pisang, P3: rumput Bento Rayap + 9% MOL bonggol pisang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan aktivator MOL bonggol pisang berpengaruh nyata (P<0.05) terhadap nilai protein kasar dan serat kasar, tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap nilai lemak kasar. Penggunaan MOL bonggol pisang dengan taraf 9% pada silase Bento Rayap merupakan perlakuan terbaik yang dapat meningkatkan nilai protein kasar rumput Bento Rayap dari 5,35% menjadi 12,87% dan menurunkan kandungan serat kasar rumput Bento Rayap dari 27,57% menjadi 16,19% dengan kandungan lemak kasar yaitu 2,16%. Kata kunci: Lemak kasar, MOL bonggol pisang, protein kasar, serat kasar, rumput bento rayapThe Use of Local Microorganism Activator (MOL) from Banana Stems on the Nutritional Content of Bento Rayap Grass (Leersia hexandra) SilageABSTRACT. Sustainable feed availability can be achieved by utilizing natural resources. One of the technologies that can be used is silage technology that utilizes a type of swamp grass, namely Bento Rayap grass (Leersia hexandra) and local microorganism bioactivators (MOL) from banana stems. This study aims to determine the nutritional content of Bento Rayap grass silage using MOL. The parameters measured were crude protein, crude fat, and crude fiber content. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications, namely P0: Bento Rayap grass without adding MOL (control), P1: Bento Rayap grass + 3% banana stem MOL, P2: Bento Rayap grass + 6% banana stem MOL, and P3: P1: Bento Rayap grass + 9% banana stem MOL. The results showed that the use of banana stem MOL as an activator had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the crude protein and crude fiber content, but had not significant effect on the crude fat. The use of banana stem MOL at a level of 9% in Bento Rayap silage was the best treatment, which was be able to increase crude protein content by 12.87% and decrease the crude fiber content to 16.19% with a crude fat content of 2.16%.

Abstract

Emissions of ammonia gas (NH3) produced from the manure of laying hens can harm health and productivity. This study aims to determine the comfort level of laying hens based on the temperature humidity index which is calculated based on the temperature and humidity conditions of the cage, and its relationship with ammonia gas (NH3) levels, as well as the factors that most influence the concentration of ammonia gas (NH3) around the cage. Data collection was carried out in 96 units of laying hen cages in Sidrap Regency spread across 4 sub-districts, including; Kulo, Pitu Riawa, Maritengngae, and Watang Pulu. Data collection was carried out directly by measuring the ammonia levels in the cage air using the Ammonia Gas Detector Smart Sensor AR8500 system. Temperature and humidity were measured using an Elitech DT-3 Thermo Hygrometer. Data were analyzed by correlation and multiple linear regression. The results of the research showed that as many as 53.13% of laying hens were in an "uncomfortable" condition in breeder-rearing cages in Sidrap Regency. Air ammonia (NH3) levels have a "strong" correlation with humidity and a "moderate" correlation with THI. The higher the humidity and THI, the higher the ammonia (NH3) levels in the air. Higher humidity will increase the ammonia (NH3) content in the cage air partially and simultaneously with the regression equation. Air NH3 level = -11.803 + 1.328 temperature + 0.152 humidity – 1.314 THI.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kesesuaian karakteristik morfometrik dan bobot badan sapi Bali di Loka Pengujian Standar Instrumen Ruminansia Besar berdasarkan persyaratan minimum kuantitatif yang ditetapkan. Sebanyak 30 ekor sapi Bali, terdiri dari 15 jantan dan 15 betina berumur 1-3 tahun, digunakan sebagai sampel. Variabel yang diukur meliputi tinggi pundak, panjang badan, lingkar dada, dan bobot badan, yang kemudian distandardisasi ke umur 2 tahun menggunakan faktor koreksi umur. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif dan diuji dengan one sample t-test satu arah terhadap SNI 7651-4:2020 dan Keputusan Menteri Pertanian No. 325/Kpts/OT.140/1/2010. Pengujian kesesuaian terhadap SNI dilakukan secara bertahap untuk kelas III, II, dan I. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata tinggi pundak, panjang badan, lingkar dada, dan bobot badan sapi Bali jantan berturut-turut adalah 114,85±9,58 cm; 119,67±13,7 cm; 158,98±15,89 cm; dan 263,83±37,65 kg. Sementara pada sapi betina, nilai rata-ratanya adalah 116,27±7,21 cm; 128,61±14,61 cm; 158±11,24 cm; dan 228,23±29,02 kg. Tinggi pundak dan lingkar dada sapi jantan belum memenuhi standar minimum SNI, sedangkan panjang badan telah melampaui standar SNI Kelas III. Di sisi lain, sapi betina secara signifikan (P<0,01) telah melampaui standar minimum SNI Kelas I untuk tinggi pundak, panjang badan, dan lingkar dada. Bobot badan kedua jenis kelamin juga telah melampaui persyaratan SNI dan Keputusan Menteri Pertanian (P<0,01). Secara keseluruhan, sapi betina menunjukkan performa yang lebih baik sehingga dapat dijadikan bibit unggul.Kata kunci: Sapi Bali, ukuran linier tubuh, bobot badan, pengujian SNI Evaluation of Morphometric Measurements and Body Weight of Bali Cattle at The Large Ruminant Instrument Standard Testing CenterABSTRACT. This research was conducted to evaluate the suitability of morphometric characteristics and body weight of Bali cattle at the Large Ruminant Instrument Standard Testing Center based on the minimum quantitative requirements for Bali cattle. A total of 30 Bali cattle, consisting of 15 males and 15 females aged 1-3 years, were used as samples. The variables measured included wither height, body length, chest girth, and body weight, which were then standardized to 2 years of age using age correction factors. Data analysis was performed descriptively and tested using a one-tailed one-sample t-test against SNI 7651-4:2020 and the Minister of Agriculture Decree No. 325/Kpts/OT.140/1/2010. Compliance testing with SNI was conducted in stages for Class III, II, and I. The results showed that the average wither height, body length, chest girth, and body weight of male Bali cattle were 114.85±9.58 cm, 119.67±13.7 cm, 158.98±15.89 cm, and 263.83±37.65 kg, respectively. Meanwhile, for female Bali cattle, the average values were 116.27±7.21 cm, 128.61±14.61 cm, 158±11.24 cm, and 228,23±29,02 kg. The wither height and chest girth of male cattle did not meet the minimum SNI standards, while body length exceeded the Class III SNI standard. On the other hand, female cattle significantly (P<0.01) exceeded the minimum SNI Class I standards for wither height, body length, and chest girth. The body weight of both sexes also exceeded the requirements set by SNI and the Minister of Agriculture (P<0.01). Overall, the female cattle showed better performance and therefore can be considered as superior breeding stock.

Abstract

.  Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) is an animal disease caused by a virus from the Picornaviridae family with the genus Aphthovirus. This study aimed to assess the extent of knowledge, attitudes, and actions of cattle farmers in Kuta Baro Subdistrict, Aceh Besar District, in implementing biosecurity on their farms to prevent FMD. The sample used was 45 cattle farmers in four villages in Kuta Baro Subdistrict, Aceh Besar District, namely Cut Preh, Cut Beut, Lam Seunong, and Ujong Blang. This study used a questionnaire instrument and the data were analyzed using binary logistic regression analysis. The statistics exhibited that the percentages of farmers with poor knowledge, attitude, and action were 71.1%, 66.7%, and 68.9%, respectively. Furthermore, the results of the analysis revealed that there was a significant relationship between the attitudes and actions of farmers towards the infection of FMD virus in livestock. Meanwhile, the farmer’s knowledge did not have a significant role in handling FMD. The odds ratio showed that the odds of FMD cases decrease 0.593 times if there is an increase in farmers' attitudes towards biosecurity, and the odds of FMD cases decrease 0.666 times if there is an increase in farmers' actions towards biosecurity. The accuracy of this model reached 68.9%. Enhancements in farmers’ knowledge, attitudes, and actions towards implementing biosecurity have the potential to reduce the incidence of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in livestock.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan berbagai jenis sumber karbohidrat dalam fermentasi daun indigofera (Indigofera zollingeria) terhadap peningkatan nutrisi. Fermentasi merupakan salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan nutrisi, mikroorganisme yang berpotensi digunakan yaitu Bacillus amyloliquefaciens karena memiliki kemampuan untuk menghasilkan enzim selulase yang berperan dalam penurunan kandungan serat kasar dan enzim protease yang dapat meningkatkan kandungan nutrisi. Metode penelitian eksperimental dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL), 4 perlakuan dengan 5 ulangan. Variasi perlakuan yaitu: A: 100% daun Indigofera, B: 80% daun Indigofera dan 20% dedak padi, C: 80% daun Indigofera dan 20% ampas tahu dan D: 80% daun Indigofera dan 20% kulit singkong.  Peubah yang dilihat pada penelitian ini adalah energi metabolisme (kkal/kg), lemak kasar (%) dan serat kasar (%). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan dengan berbagai jenis sumber karbohidrat meliputi dedak padi, ampas tahu dan kulit singkong dalam fermentasi daun Indigofera dengan Bacillus amyloliquefaciens menunjukan pengaruh berbeda nyata (P<0,05) terhadap kandungan nutrisi baik itu energi metabolisme, lemak kasar dan serat kasar. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah fermentasi daun Indigofera dengan Bacillus amiloliquefaciens memerlukan sumber karbohidrat sebagai sumber karbon berupa kulit singkong atau dedak padi sehingga diperoleh penurunan serat kasar dan peningkatan nutrisi yang optimal. Kata kunci: Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, fermentasi, karbohidrat, Indigofera, dedak padi, ampas tahu, kulit singkong.Effects of Various Carbohydrate Sources on Nutritional Enhancement during the Fermentation of Indigofera (Indigofera zollingeria) LeavesABSTRACT. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of supplementing various carbohydrate sources in the fermentation of Indigofera (Indigofera zollingeria) leaves on nutritional enhancement. Fermentation is a viable approach to improve the nutritional quality of feed ingredients. A potential microorganism for this process is Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, which is capable of producing cellulase enzymes that reduce crude fiber content, as well as protease enzymes that contribute to increasing the overall nutrient content. The study employed an experimental approach using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and five replications. The treatment variations were as follows: A: 100% Indigofera leaves; B: 80% Indigofera leaves and 20% rice bran; C: 80% Indigofera leaves and 20% tofu dregs and D: 80% Indigofera leaves and 20% cassava peel. The observed variables included metabolizable energy (kcal/kg), crude fat (%), and crude fiber (%). The results demonstrated that the inclusion of different carbohydrate sources namely rice bran, tofu dregs, and cassava peel in the fermentation of Indigofera leaves using Bacillus amyloliquefaciens had a significant effect (P<0.05) on all measured nutritional parameters, including metabolizable energy, crude fat, and crude fiber. This study concludes that the fermentation of Indigofera leaves with Bacillus amyloliquefaciens necessitates the addition of carbohydrate sources such as cassava peel or rice bran as carbon providers, resulting in an optimal reduction in crude fiber and improvement in nutritional content

Abstract

ABSTRACT. Sugar liquid can be used as supplementary feed for honeybees (Apis mellifera) because it may influence population development, egg production, and larvae, thereby enhancing colony productivity. This study aimed to determine the effect of adding sugar liquid on the development of Apis mellifera populations in standard hives. The research utilized 12 standard hives of Apis mellifera, each containing seven frames, with sugar liquid applied in four different treatments and three replicates. The treatments involved sugar liquid at a ratio of 3:1 (3 parts sugar and 1 part water), with levels of P0 = 0 kg, P1 = 0.33 kg/week, P2 = 0.66 kg/week, and P3 = 1 kg/week. The study employed a randomized block design (RBD), and data were analyzed using variance (ANOVA). Significant differences between treatments were further tested using Duncan's test. The results indicated that the addition of sugar liquid as supplementary feed did not significantly affect (P>0.05) the population, egg number, or larvae count of Apis mellifera. The study concludes that adding up to 1 kg of sugar liquid per week meets the basic nutritional needs of Apis mellifera but is not sufficiently effective in significantly increasing population, egg, or larval numbers.
