Abstract

This paper will analyze how sexism is closely correlated with violence that can endanger vulnerable groups, both men and women. The violence referred to here is psychological violence. People tend to more easily recognize physical violence compared to psychological violence, which ranks first in destroying someone's mental health. This paper will also elaborate on how the influence of gender discrimination determines the presence or absence of violence in the scope of sexist behavior toward the lives of vulnerable groups. Sexism and gender stereotypes serve as the primary references in classifying what behaviors are acceptable and what are not, what should be done, and what should be abandoned by both men and women. These gender stereotypes bring consequences for anyone who is not consistent with the existing and socially accepted patterns. This paper selects the elaboration of the concept of sexism as the primary analytical tool using a qualitative method. Data is collected by conducting in-depth interviews with 86 selected informants and analyzing references and written documents related to sexism and violence. This paper demonstrates that violence in the context of sexism will continue to claim victims from vulnerable groups if the values of violence within sexism are not stopped.

Abstract

The efforts of victims of sexual violence (KS) on campus to get justice often clash with the interests of certain parties in maintaining the good name of the campus. In addition, the power relationship between the victim and the perpetrator obstructs the implementation of sanctions on the perpetrator. This study aims to voice the victims of sexual violence on campus in fighting for justice and find out how the survivors deal with the post-sexual violence trauma conditions they experience. The methodology in this research uses a feminist ethnographic approach. There are four main informants who are survivors of KS on campus. Data collection methods through in-depth life history interviews, involved observation, and documentation. The research results show that the culture of ewuh pekewuh is one of the causes of the failure to sanction KS perpetrators. Differences in the perspective of lecturers on campus in seeing KS as a common problem or only personal victims. Campus regulations on the operational standards of implementation (SOP) for the prevention and handling of KS should be the hope of victims to obtain justice. The fact is that it is still not in accordance with what is needed by KS survivors on campus. Keywords: Victims, Sexual Violence, Campus, Survivors, Feminist Ethnography

Abstract

There are many statements that men and women are different in all respects in the name of religion, especially Islam. Such reductions need to be re-examined so that there are no misperceptions that cause chaos and misinterpretation. With that, through the thought of Riffat Hassan as a foothold, Islam is very merciful to differences. Like the nature of men and women, both of which have the same potential in showing existence. It is necessary to consider and negotiate Riffat Hassan's thoughts on equality between men and women. Three main key points; the first is that equality is more important than others, the second is the concept of polygamy which is not necessarily interpreted as letter leg, and the third is the concept of veil or purdah which has many interpretations. Thus, through the study of Riffat Hassan's thoughts, it can be summarized that; everything departs from God's justice that does not discriminate against his servants because the main thing in God's eyes is the devotion of his servants.

Abstract

Happiness is important and desired by everyone, including adult women. Adult women have both domestic and public roles, making them vulnerable to depression or other mental disorders. There are many sources and components that can increase the happiness of adult women, one of which is the level of education. This study aims to provide an overview of the happiness of adult women in terms of their level of education, presenting a valid source of data to improve the happiness of Indonesian women. This study used secondary data from the Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS), with 7047 women aged 25-40 years as research subjects, and conducted regression analysis. The results showed that education level is significant in influencing the happiness level of Indonesian women (R2 = 0.012, F (1,6842) = 82.16, p < 0.001). The higher the education level of Indonesian women, the happier they would be. This study also examined age, marital status, and place of residence (rural or urban) for women's happiness.

Abstract

This study analyzes in depth how gender transformation and women's entrepreneurial agency developed in Giriloyo Batik Village, historically bound by traditional gender norms confining women to the domestic sphere and lacking recognition of economic value. The aim is to understand how external factors trigger social change, women's role negotiation strategies, and the cultural impact on household gender relations. Using a qualitative ethnographic approach, the study employs in-depth interviews with women entrepreneurs and participatory observation to identify social change patterns. Key findings reveal two catalysts: (1) the 2006 earthquake crippling men's public livelihoods, and (2) UNESCO's batik recognition granting global legitimacy. Women in Giriloyo employed subtle negotiation, transforming batik-making into institutionalized economic production via independent businesses and cooperatives, bolstered by Javanese work ethic. This led to greater bargaining power and limited autonomy in family decisions. The novelty argues that the double burden can become an effective strategy for social and economic recognition without challenging patriarchal norms directly.

Abstract

The Western feminist paradigm, which emphasizes individual freedom, often views religion as a source of suffering, oppression, and backwardness for women, thus religious teachings are considered an obstacle to achieving gender equality. This study aims to examine the discourse of women in the classical Islamic thought of the Indonesian archipelago through the manuscript Hadīyat Al-Nisā' Fī Targhīb 'Ushrat Al-Nisā by Muhammad Azhari bin Khatib Ma'aruf Al Palembani. This literature research uses a qualitative, descriptive-philosophical approach, with documentation and content analysis techniques, and deductive conclusion drawing. The results show that the manuscript contains rules on the rights, ethics, and roles of women in the family and society. These rules do not aim to discriminate as accused by Western feminism, but rather to protect the dignity and honor of women. This difference arises from the epistemological basis: Western feminism starts from a critique of patriarchy, while Islam is based on religion and morality. Thus, Islam places women in a noble position while protecting them from discrimination and subordination.

Abstract

This study explores women's empowerment through digital literacy within pesantren, focusing on three case studies: Nisaul Kamilah from Pesantren Maslakul Huda Lamongan, Mambaul Atiyah from Pesantren Sabiluth Thoyyib Pasuruan, and Munawara from Pesantren Tebuireng Jombang. Employing a qualitative approach, the research investigates how these female digital literacy advocates utilize technology to enhance students' reading, writing, and access to information. The findings indicate that digital literacy not only modernizes education in pesantren but also creates opportunities for women to work, express themselves, and contribute to da'wah. Nonetheless, challenges such as limited access to technology and concerns about its potential negative impacts remain. Support from pesantren leaders and the implementation of flexible policies are essential for empowering women and advancing education. Furthermore, women's involvement in shaping educational practices has a positive effect on the digital literacy environment, inspiring santriwati to participate in technology-based initiatives
