Abstract

Imam Ghazālī is the main originator of an integrative Islamic epistemology-based classification of knowledge. Where, the formulation begins with the elaboration of Islamic scientific schools, namely: Kalām, Falsafah, Bāṭinī, and Sufism. This article critically describes the epistemological elements in al-Ghazālī's view. This research is library research. This study concludes that Imam Ghazālī through the classification of his knowledge wants to clarify, that even though all these paths are valid and can be harmonized. This is what prompted Imam Ghazāl to prioritize Sūfī epistemology, where sharia, aqdah and morals in Islam are practiced at the level of ihsān as the main way. Thus, the essential elements related to the classification of knowledge are closely related to the four schools plus the flow of fiqh that he has studied since the beginning of his time of studying. More interestingly, this classification of knowledge can prevent Muslims from being disrupted by epistemology in this contemporary era by remaining based on recognized sources of Islamic epistemology

Abstract

This study examined the hadith regarding the determination of mahram status for adult men due to breastfeeding (al-radhāah). It was needed to be conducted because the hadiths are contradictory to one another. Using the mukhtalif al-hadith science method, this study tried to find the right and correct understanding, avoiding visible outward contradictions, with two forms of settlement, namely non-compromising and compromise. The majority of scholars prioritize a compromise settlement first, then a non-compromising one. The determination of the hadith "maqbul-ma'mulbih" and "maqbul-ghayru ma'mulbih" is a consequence of the application of non-compromising settlement through the nasakh or tarjih method approach. The findings show that contradictory hadiths on adult breastfeeding due to al-radhāah can be resolved by the compromise method (al-jam'u) using takhshis al-'am. The Prophet's command to Sahlah bint Suhail to breastfeed the adult Salim so that he becomes a mahram because of al-radhaah, is only a form of the Prophet's specialness to Salim and not for other adult men

Abstract

Water is a vital natural resource for human life. The study of water has attracted the attention of scholars and scientists along with the ongoing destruction of nature. The combination of the two viewpoints of scientists and clergy on environmental issues led to a new study called eco-theology. This fact encourages researchers to conduct research on water eco-theology from a hadith perspective. The purpose of this study is to formulate the concept of the relationship between religious texts (hadith) and the environment which has become the biggest problem of mankind today. This study uses a qualitative method with a library research approach, namely reading and exploring references related to the theme of the study. The results of the study show that the study of the term al-mā' in the texts of the prophet's hadith includes three main aspects, namely joint ownership of water (social function), oriented towards survival (ecological function), and water conservation (conservation function). The findings in this study are (1) attached to the social dimension of water, both regarding the basic needs of humans, and animals, including for agriculture to disaster emergencies. (2) water has an important role in the formation of ecology that encourages the emergence of human awareness to treat water well for the realization of an ideal living environment. (3) saving water from the threat of damage is also an important part of the Prophet's hadith about al-mā'. These three aspects confirm the relationship between religious texts and science.

Abstract

This study discusses various pro-LGBT arguments based on QS. al-Hujurat[49]:13 and QS. al-A’raf [7]: 80-84 and QS. Hud [11]:77-82. Then, the location of their mistakes in interpreting the verse is explained by showing Muslim commentators’ views on the verses used as arguments. To find out the strength and measure the scientificity of these arguments. From this problem, this research will discuss the arguments of LGBT supporters, which are justified by the verses they quote. The method used in this research is the descriptive method and critical analysis. The results of this study can be concluded in several points; First, LGBT and homosexuals have the same conception. Second, the arguments of LGBT supporters seem compelling. Third, the arguments based on the verses of the Qur’an seem far-fetched because there is no strong argument to reject the interpretation of the mufassir. Finally, the partial understanding of LGBT supporters does not reach the essence or content of the verse

Abstract

The lack of records about the involvement and contribution of women in Sufism texts cannot be used as an excuse that women have a small role and position in the development and dissemination of Sufism teachings, doctrines and practices. So far, the well-known female Sufis, namely Rabi'ah al-Adawiyah (717-801) and Aishah al-Ba'uniyyah (c. 1456-1517), are two big names who prove that women have equal opportunities in spiritual attainment. Many researchers discuss female Sufis but focus on the eastern world and parts of India, only a few researchers have written about female Sufis in the West, therefore the authors are interested in discussing female Sufis in the West. This research is a library research. The author uses a literature review with the data sources used in this paper are secondary data originating from the literature such as books, journals, articles, and various sources that are relevant to the theme of the discussion in this paper.. The results of the study describe female Sufisin the contemporary era such as Hajjah Amina Adil and Hajjah Naziha Adil with their organizations engaged in philanthropy. Then another female Sufi is Nahid Angha who is known as one of the founders of the International Sufi Woman Organization, a world Sufi women's organization. This organization is concerned with peace programs and women's empowerment. The next female Sufi, namely Eva de Vitray in the path of Sufism, Eva de Vitray-Meyerovitch or Hawwa Hanim, took allegiance to the murshid of the Qadiriyah order from Morocco, Sheikh Hamzah al-Qadiri al-Boutchichi. Eva is also connected with Sheikh Khaled Bentounes, a murshid of the Syadziliyah-Alawiyahtarekat who lives in France

Abstract

The practice of Islam in the archipelago is the result of the dialectic of the Shari'a text with the realities of the local culture. It can be said that Islam and culture are entities that cannot be denied each other. It became a starting point for Muhammad Qoyyim Ya'qub to interpret contextually that is integrated with aspects of locality. The song Qur'any is a form of Qoyyim's actualization of exploring and grounding the values of the Qur'an in the cultural framework of the archipelago. So, this article reveals; 1) the extent to which Muhammad Qoyyim Ya'qub reveals the locality dimension in his commentary; Song Qur’any, and 2) what strategy is used to explore the reading of the Qur'an. Paul Ricoeur's hermeneutics was used to analyze the results of Muhammad Qoyyim Ya'qub's interpretation and communication theory to map his da'wah mode. The finding explores that the Song of the Qur’an contains both appreciation and criticism. Beside internalizing, Qoyyim Ya'qub in his interpretation responds to local culture which is considered not in line with Islamic values. Lyric Poetry is the chosen medium to assist in the process of transmitting the messages of the Qur'an

Abstract

The Ijmālī method in interpreting hadith or Sharḥ hadith is an old method for interpreting the Qur'an as done by previous scholars. This Ijmālī method includes a method that does not require a fairly in-depth discussion of the hadith, but the sharah of the hadith is sufficient globally and is only general in nature. This article aims to explain the sharah of hadith by using the Ijmālī method as a method of discussing interpretations. This article is a library research. The results showed that the application of this method using a language approach, then briefly using another hadith with the same narrator as bi al-ma'na, discussed the meaning globally and not in depth. For this reason, supporting sciences such as language, 'Ulumul Qurān, and 'Ulumul Hadith are needed for someone who is called a scholar to explain the Sharḥ of hadith, such as riwāyah science and Dirāyah science as well as Gharīb al-Ḥad Science in Ma'āni al-Ḥadīṡ Science. The disadvantage of the Ijmālī Method is that someone who wants to explore the meaning of hadith cannot gain deep and thorough knowledge

Abstract

The Quran's concern for the natural order is evident through its verses. By studying verses about nature, humans can increase knowledge and include science in analyzing the content of the Quran, as the Ilmi interpretation issued by the Ministry of Religion interprets the kauniyah verses in the Qur'an using scientific findings. This article aims to discuss the Qur'an's insight into constellations, especially the function of constellations based on the interpretation of Ilmi which was launched by the Ministry of Religion and implied by the development of astronomy and astrology. This research is included in the category of literature research with the Ministry of Religion's Ilmi interpretation as the primary source and uses the maudhu'I method with the type of Ilmi interpretation. There are three verses out of the 13 verses that have been analyzed based on the term An-Najm. Concluding using inductive methods. The results of this study show that there are 3 constellation functions based on the interpretation of the Ministry of Religion's Ilmi interpretation, namely functioning as a directional direction, determining seasons, and determining time. The three functions are related to the development of astronomy and astrology. Astronomy can produce new findings through the three constellation functions, namely sextants and astrolabes. Meanwhile, astrology only utilizes the function of constellations as a determinant of seasons by using Javanese astrology, which is known as prey institutions

Patients with coronary heart disease have high anxiety about their future, and most of them cannot accept their current situation. The high level of anxiety happened because of their tendency to avoid their God, so it developed a spiritual emptiness that could affect their psychological condition. Therefore, they were always looking for a solution to minimize their anxiety level to feel inner peace. Until they finally found an alternative medicine based on Sufism(Sufi healing). This research used a qualitative method and was conducted with field research. The respondents who participated in this study were three people between 45-75 years old. Researchers analyzed the process and the impact of the Sufi healing method to quell the anxiety of coronary heart disease patients. In addition, by using comparative descriptive analysis, researchers compare the attitude of respondents before and after the intervention of the Sufi healing method. Abstract

As an axiom, the existence of God promotes various social inequalities in society and religion, which is inseparable from the modern world. The modern world is inseparable from the philosophical study of three natural of all time; nature, humans, and God. Atheism, in this case, negates the existence of the most realistic entity, God. An influential philosopher and Muslim theologian in both East and West, Ibn Rushd, had his conception of the existence of God. His thought, primarily influenced by Islamic philosophy and law, made him a very rational yet objectively Qur’anic-based Muslim scholar. This paper examines the Atheist's conception and their influence on the existence of God through Ibn Rushd's thought. This research is a type of library research employs a normative-theological approach. The results of this paper indicate that Ibn Rushd used a specific strategy, namely dalil al-‘Inàyah and dalil al-Ikhtirà', to show that his philosophical thinking influenced more on his rational theology. Another exciting thing is how Ibn Rushd reviews the problems that emerged from this discourse. He criticized the opinions of Atheism based on Muslim philosophers and mutakallimin; simultaneously, he offered both parties to return to the Qur'an. Based on this case, the writer assumes that Ibn Rushd's philosophical and theological thinking will not be the same as the thoughts of other philosophers in criticizing the thought of Atheism
