Abstract

The study aims to determine the validity and reliability of the perceived stress scale instrument. The study uses a quantitative approach. The respondents involved in this study were 195 undergraduate and master students of guidance and counseling at Yogyakarta State University. Respondents were determined through a simple random sampling technique—data analysis using the RASCH model. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the Perceived Stress Scale has good quality, meaning that it meets the validity and reliability aspects. The results of the study can be used as an instrument of need assessment in guidance and counseling services.Keywords: perceived stress scale, RASCH model, need assessment

Abstract

This study aims to determine the description of subjective well-being and the factors that influence subjective well-being in senior women. This study was conducted in Yogyakarta and Madura and included retired old women aged 60 years and above. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, specifically through the use of interviews and observation. Data were analyzed using content analysis. Purposive sampling was used as the sampling technique in this study. The results of this study found that the subjective well-being of late adults can be viewed from both cognitive and affective components: life satisfaction, health, productive activities, life enjoyment, and confidence. Also, researchers found adverse effects, such as feelings of loneliness, sadness, and stress. The results of other studies found that religiosity, social relations, leisure time, success, and family support are contributing factors that influence the subjective wellbeing of people in their late adulthood. The results of this study can be used as a basis for developing a gerontological counseling model to develop subjective well-being in senior women

Abstract

This study aims to produce guidance and counseling programs in elementary schools. This research is development research following the procedure of the Borg & Gall model. The subject of validation was carried out by two competent experts in the guidance and counseling program and 3 class teachers as practitioners. The data collection instruments used were expert validation questionnaires, practitioner validation questionnaires, and guidelines for focus group discussion. The data analysis technique used is quantitative descriptive analysis techniques using categorization. The results of expert validation on the program and the results of practitioner validation of the program get a good category. It can be concluded that the guidance and counseling program in elementary schools is good and feasible to implement with several revisions given. The results of this study can be used as a development program for guidance and counseling services in elementary schools.

Abstract

Diversity in Indonesia raises the tolerance problem. The research goal to find guidance and counseling services right to develop character tolerance. Research and development approach used in research. Research and development steps include preliminary study, development hypothetical group guidance model-based folklore, validation of expert judgment and expert practitioners, experimental test form group guidance model-based folklore on a limited basis — descriptive qualitative and descriptive quantitative in research analysis. The findings show Aspects of peace and mutual respect for students in the low category, during the self-awareness of students in the high category. School counselor role in group guidance services for prevention, development, understanding, and distribution of tolerance character. Tolerance characters appear in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor dimensions with indicators of peace, respect for differences and individuals, and awareness. Group guidance model-based folklore methods is the right solution for the internalization of character tolerance trough limited test with indicate that there was a significant change in tolerance level after the experimental analysis.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the level of self-regulated learning (SLR) of students. The research was conducted with a quantitative descriptive method on 300 students at 14 Muhammadiyah Junior High Schools throughout Bantul Regency. The data collection instrument used was a valid and reliable SLR scale, as well as descriptive statistical data analysis with percentages and standard deviation. The results of the study concluded that SRL identification in SMP Muhammadiyah students with high criteria. But even though it has high criteria overall, one school has low criteria because it has access, human resources, and locations that are less relevant to support education. The unequal learning attitudes of students are influenced by human resources as role models, parenting styles, and incoming information. to students about the subject matter. This research can be used by counseling teachers in schools as a basis for developing self-development programs for students.

Abstract

The present study aimed to describe students’ anger management based on its aspects. Applying descriptive quantitative approach,  the present study involved 280 students of SMK Muhammadiyah Mungkid who were recruited using simple random sampling technique.  The data were collected using anger management scale and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The present study showed that students’ overall anger management skill was categorized as very high. In terms of anger management aspects, students’ anger recognition, anger control, anger relief, and assertive anger expression skills were categorized as high, high, moderate, and high, respectively. The result of the present study is expected to serve as a preliminary study for school counselors to determine appropriate techniques to help students to improve anger management skills.

Abstract

Relative deficiencies develop in two types of society: poor (deprived) and disadvantaged (unfortunate), little research for this arrangement has been conducted in the field of education. This will discuss the relative deprivation character of underprivileged children in the realm of education. This research uses a descriptive method. The descriptive survey was used to describe the relative character of deprivation among underprivileged children at school, knowing the differences between boys and girls. The subjects in this study were grade 5 and grade 6 elementary school students in the Bekasi area with a total of 77 students: 37 boys and 40 girls. The instrument used in this study is an instrument that has been tested by experts, validity and reliability. It uses a relative deprivation scale for disadvantaged children. The data were analyzed descriptively by describing the minimum and maximum scores of each item, thus showing strength of each characteristic. In addition, the frequency score also described to highlight differences in the relative characteristics of deprivation among male and female students. The results explained that the participants had a very strong deprivation character, males were more dominant than females. The strongest characters reflected their lesser curiosity about things, but the girls exhibit better score related to rule obedience. The results of this study could be used as a reference to treat students' relative deficiencies through  guidance and counseling services.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to depict the vocational high school students’ employability. Family support and self-confidence were examined as predictors that can enhance students’ readiness to enter the working world. Ninety-two students of Class XII of a vocational high school participated in this correlational study. They were recruited using cluster random sampling technique. In collecting the data, employability, self-confidence, and family support scales were administered. The collected data were analyzed using multiple regression technique. The result of the study showed that self-confidence and family support are positively correlated with employability, either partially or simultaneously. This study found that self-confidence, as the internal factor, give greater contribution to students’ employability.  The result of this study could be used as a reference for school counselors to provide guidance and counseling services to enhance students’ employability.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the effect of self-esteem on student self-adjusment. The research involved a sample of 210 students of grade X State Senior High School (SMAN) 1 Bangil Pasuruan that were randomly selected. The data analysis technique used in this study is regression analysis. The result showed that there was a significant influence between self-esteem on student self-adjusment. This study recommends a counseling service to improve student self-adjusment by involving self-esteem variables.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the effectiveness of peer guidance strategies to improved emotional literacy in adolescents. The study used an experimental research type with two groups, pretest-posttest, with control group design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling and random assignment. The experimental group and the control group each consisted of two groups, each consisting of five participants. The study used an emotional literacy questionnaire to determine the level of emotional literacy in adolescents. The data analysis technique used the Mann Whitney U Test. The study results showed that the story writing technique is effective in improving adolescents' emotional literacy. Counselors can use study results to help adolescents improve emotional literacy through peer guidance strategies.
