Abstract

Acceleration program is claimed to be designated for gifted children. However, the implementation of the program is still considered sporadic and exclusive. This study aims at developping a comprehensive guidance and councelling for gifted child using Molgram’s model in acceleration inclusion setting. The research question is “ how is the development of comprehensive guidance and counseling for gifted children through Milgram’s model in acceleration-inclusion setting applicable and affective?". This research applied mixed methods as its design which utilize researchand development as the umbrella in three phases. The first phase, a preliminary study which produced a hypothetic model. The finding shows that comprehensive guidance and councelling for gifted children in acceleration-inclusion setting (the model) can be constructed based on home, school, and community; it can be implemented to non-gifted, mildly gifted, moderately gifted, and profoundly gifted children, focusing on general critical thinking, specific creative talent, general intelligence, and specific intellectual ability. The comprehensive guidance and councelling should also implement assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation as well as integration with context. The second stage was the conceptual and empirical validation, which generated an operating model to be tested for its effectiveness in the third stage.

The 36-item of Working Alliance Inventory-Therapist (WAI-T) is useful assessment tool, given its rigorous development and good psychometric properties. However, the measures length can prohibit use. This study aim is to adapt, develop, and exam psychometric properties of the New WAI-T-Short Form (New WAI-T-SF) for multicultural counselor’s candidates in Indonesian culture. This study used instrument adaptation procedures. In this study, we used a sample of 517 sixth semester of counselor’s candidates from 11 Department of Guidance and Counseling in Indonesia. Operationally, data analysis was performed by using Rasch Model version 3.75. The results showed that the New WAI-T-SF had satisfying psychometric properties, i.e. item measure, item fit order, DIF, person measure, person fit order, item-person maps, rating scale, test reliability, person reliability, and item reliability. Results suggest that the New WAI-T-SF can provide efficient and valid assessments of working alliance in Indonesian culture

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the self-strength counseling model in developing student academic expectations. The study was conducted using a single-subject experimental design to measure the relationship between 2 variables, namely self-strength counseling and academic expectations. The type of design used is the A-B-A design, where there are three experimental phases, namely phase A is the baseline phase and phase B is the intervention phase. The data analysis used in this research is descriptive statistical techniques because the study has a single case (single subject). The number of subjects in this study was limited, namely only five students. The results showed that self-strength counseling was effective in increasing student academic expectations after the intervention process. The study results can be used to reference counselors in higher education to improve student academic expectations through the self-strength counseling model.

Abstract

Relative deficiencies develop in two types of society: poor (deprived) and disadvantaged (unfortunate), little research for this arrangement has been conducted in the field of education. This will discuss the relative deprivation character of underprivileged children in the realm of education. This research uses a descriptive method. The descriptive survey was used to describe the relative character of deprivation among underprivileged children at school, knowing the differences between boys and girls. The subjects in this study were grade 5 and grade 6 elementary school students in the Bekasi area with a total of 77 students: 37 boys and 40 girls. The instrument used in this study is an instrument that has been tested by experts, validity and reliability. It uses a relative deprivation scale for disadvantaged children. The data were analyzed descriptively by describing the minimum and maximum scores of each item, thus showing strength of each characteristic. In addition, the frequency score also described to highlight differences in the relative characteristics of deprivation among male and female students. The results explained that the participants had a very strong deprivation character, males were more dominant than females. The strongest characters reflected their lesser curiosity about things, but the girls exhibit better score related to rule obedience. The results of this study could be used as a reference to treat students' relative deficiencies through  guidance and counseling services.

Abstract

Current studies have consistently found that the excellent performance of counselors and the effectiveness and efficacy of counseling are influenced by counseling alliances that are established between counselor and counselee. For this reason, the existence of a tool accurately measuring the counseling alliance between counselor and counselee-peer rating/observer version is necessary. The purpose of this study is to develop and psychometric exam properties of Counseling Alliance Inventory-Peer Rating/Observer (CAI-PR/O) version based computer-assisted testing. This study used instrument development and standardization procedures—this study’s participants of 61 of pre-service counselors from a Department of Guidance and Counseling in Indonesia. Data were collected using a questionnaire that is CAI-PR/O initial version in the form of a Likert five-level scale. Operationally, data analysis was performed by using Rasch Model version 3.75. The results showed that CAI-PR/O had satisfying psychometric properties, i.e., item measure, item fit order, DIF, person measure, person fit order, variable maps, rating scale, test reliability, person reliability, and item reliability. However, the factor structure still needed to be improved. Further studies are needed to examine the psychometric properties of CAI-PR/O in various socio-demography of participants.
