Abstract

Beach is a very dynamic environment because, in that environment, various processes occur, such as sedimentation, abrasion, and transportation. Likewise, the shoreline has a dynamic nature to change. Shoreline Changes can affect a country's maritime boundaries. This is because the changing shoreline can change the draw of the Baseline, which is the reference for measuring the maritime boundary. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor the shoreline where the Basepoint and Baseline are located. In this study, measurements of shoreline changes were made using SPOT 6 data which has a spatial resolution of 1.5 m. Shoreline changes were calculated using the DSAS. From the calculation results, the average rate of accretion in the Base Point 167 area is 5.63 m/year. Then in the area around Base Point 168 it has an average accretion rate of 2.27 m/year. In the area around Base Point 180, an average accretion rate of 15.11 m/year is obtained. The accretion process results in a change in the shoreline, resulting in a change in the configuration of the low water line which is the location where the base point is placed. Thus, changes in the shoreline can affect the withdrawal of Indonesia’s maritime boundaries.

Abstract

The sustained use of mobile health applications (mHealth) in the post-pandemic era is increasingly relevant due to ongoing health concerns and perceived disease threats (PDT). This study addresses significant gaps in understanding how self-efficacy and gender differences influence continuance intention (CI) to use mHealth applications. Guided by the Protection Motivation Theory (PMT), the research examines therelationships between PDT, self-efficacy, and CI, with gender as a moderating variable. Data from 415 mHealth users in Indonesia were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that PDT significantly influences CI, while self-efficacy directly enhances CI. Gender moderates the PDT-CI relationship, with female users showing a stronger connection. However, self-efficacydoes not mediate the PDT-CI relationship. The study highlights practical implications for mHealth developers, including the need for user-friendly and gender-sensitive designs to enhance self-efficacy and engagement. Limitations include the cross-sectional design and focus on Indonesian users, suggesting future research should adopt longitudinal approaches and explore diverse demographic and cultural contexts. The findings extend PMT's theoretical application and provide actionable insights for improving mHealth application adoption and retention in diverse populations.

Abstract

Many cities are confronting significant challenges due to the rising volume of waste. This surge in waste generation not only risks overcapacity but also contributes to increased greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This study aims to estimate the amount of waste directed to the Galuga landfill, evaluate the potential GHG emissions resulting from the landfill, and analyze the financial viability of implementing Refuse DerivedFuel (RDF) technology, which has the potential to reduce waste volumes. This research employs three key methods: 1) Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) to identify the factors that influence waste generation, 2) the IPCC guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories Volume 5 to estimate potential greenhouse gas emissions, and 3) a financial feasibility analysis to evaluate the viability of implementing RDF technology. The results show that the volume of waste directed to the Galuga landfill in 2022 was 195,787.10 tons, with a projected increase of 2.43% by 2030, bringing the total to 200,544.26 tons. The potential greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from waste generated at the Galuga landfill are estimated to be 109 kt CO2e in 2030, reflecting a decrease of 29.48% compared to 2022. Furthermore, the plan to implement RDF technologyis deemed financially viable, as it fulfills the necessary criteria for Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Benefit-Cost (B/C) Ratio, and Payback Period. Therefore, the governments may introduce various incentives to promote the adoption of RDF technology, stricter waste segregation is essential for better RDF quality, and attracting private investment through PPPs can enhance RDF infrastructure.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of repetition as a linguistic strategy in assertive speech acts within the debate discourse of the fourth vice-presidential candidates leading up to the 2024 election. Specifically, it examines the thematic relationships between repetitive figures of speech and assertive speech acts used by the first, second, and third vice-presidential candidates, utilizing NVivo 12 Plus for data visualization. Adopting a qualitative descriptive method, the study identifies instances of repetition in assertive speech acts, categorizing them into two primary functions: "stating" (three instances) and "explaining" (three instances). A pragmatic analysis reveals that repetition occurs at both the word and phrase levels, primarily serving to reinforce emphasis and strengthen the speaker's stance in political discourse. Moreover, NVivo 12 Plus analysis illustrates a hierarchical structure linking figures of speech, assertive speech acts, and their communicative functions. These findings underscore the strategic role of repetition as a persuasive tool in political debates, demonstrating its effectiveness in reinforcing arguments and enhancing audience recall. The study offers practical insights into political communication strategies, particularly for speechwriters, debate analysts, and politicians seeking to optimize message clarity and impact.

Abstract

To reduce dependency on LPG imports, the Indonesian government, through PT PLN (Persero), is implementing a project to convert LPG gas stoves to induction stoves, utilizing the national electricity surplus and reducing the energy subsidy burden. This study measures the technology readiness level of induction stove users in Surakarta, specifically the Beneficiary Families (KPM), using the technology readiness index (TRI). The results show that the KPM's TRI value is 3.33, which falls into the moderate category, indicating that the KPMs are considered pioneers ready to adopt this technology. However, there are still concerns about the technology's performance not meeting their expectations. The academic contribution of this study lies in developing an understanding of the adoption of induction stove technology in Indonesia, particularly the technology readiness within the community. The practical implications suggest the need for communication and training strategies to alleviate users' anxieties. From a social, economic, and environmental perspective, stakeholders need to formulate policies that support this transition by considering energy sustainability, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and improving community welfare.

Abstract

Green hotels are one of the products of sustainable tourism. The theory of planned behavior (TPB) could be a valuable approach for understanding consumer behavior, including visitors' preferences for eco-friendly choices. By looking at sociopsychological components, TPB makes a difference in anticipation, such as tourists' choices to visit green goals or remain eco-friendly. This study aims to examine consumer behavior regarding their interest in staying at a green inn, using the theory of planned behavior (TPB). The research focused on testing the variables of attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control on customer purchase intention. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire analyzed by SEM-PLS to determine the causal relationship among latent variables contained in the structural equation with a sample of 121 people who stayed or had stayed at Hyatt Regency Hotel Yogyakarta. The research shows that there is a significant influence among the variables of attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control on customer purchase intention.

Abstract

The identification of hate speech must be accompanied by the identification of social identity concepts. This study aims to provide an alternative corpus with text metadata and social identity based on relevant laws that are designed to be implemented in machine learning. Two key questions are addressed: what social identity semantic domains are realized in the corpus, and what are the accuracy measurement results from the corpus? To achieve these aims, the study adopts a mixed-methods approach: qualitative for the first question and quantitative for the second. This research falls under the broader umbrella of computational linguistics, utilizing semantic domain theory and natural language processing. The first approach shows that the corpus only contributes five out of nine formulated domains, dominated by negative (uncategorized), religion, and ethnicity. The second approach indicates suboptimal conditions in the annotation distribution of the corpus, despite an average accuracy rate of over 80%. This condition limits the model’s ability to generalize beyond the information within the corpus, especially regarding social identity categories that are not fully represented. This study differs from previous ones by focusing on data categorization based on more up-to-date legal sources. Future research could elaborate on this work by incorporating new language use concepts aligned with the corpus's original goal to detect hate speech.
