Abstract

This research aims to see the effect of self-directed learning assisted by modules on students' mathematical literacy based on students' learning independence. The experimental design used in this research is factorial experimental. The population in this study were all tenth-grade students at MA Plus Walisongo Kotabumi. The samples in this study were students of class X MIA 1 as the experimental and students of class X MIA 2 as the control class for each class of 32 students. The data were subjected to analysis using a two-way ANOVA test. The findings in this research are: 1) there is an influence of self-directed learning assisted by modules on students' mathematical literacy; 2) there is an influence of high, medium, and low learning independence categories on students' mathematical literacy; 3) there is an interaction between self-directed learning assisted by modules and the category of independent learning on students' mathematical literacy.

Abstract

Mathematics is one of the fields of study that has a crucial role in improving the quality of education. Islamic society attaches importance to the understanding of mathematics because of efforts to create a modern society that is by the development of sophisticated times. This study aims to determine the role of mathematics in improving the quality of education based on Islamic civilization. This study used descriptive qualitative research with a literature research approach. Literature research is a form of study conducted to collect information and data by utilizing various types of material available in libraries. The research material used in this study was obtained from relevant journal documents. Through the literature study method, researchers collect references to previous articles then sort, select and combine them so that answers to research questions and conclusions are obtained The result of this study is that students can integrate education, especially the role of mathematics with Islamic values. The gap in this study is the role of mathematics in education. The novelty in this study is how mathematics in modern Islamic civilization

Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop an evaluation tool utilizing the Microsoft Sway application to assess the creative thinking abilities of eighth-grade students in comprehending the Pythagorean Theorem material. This study is a development research with a development model that includes measuring instrument specifications, statement or question writing, statement or question review, instrument compilation, trial, instrument selection and assembly, instrument administration, and scale and norm writing. The data analysis method used involves expert validation and student responses through questionnaires. The validity results indicate that all test items have been categorized as valid. The evaluation tool's reliability level reached 0.611, indicating a sufficient level of reliability. The average difficulty level of the questions is 0.66, classified as moderate, while the average discrimination power is 0.35, indicating a sufficient discrimination power. The results of this research, which have been validated by media experts with a final percentage of 84.82%, are classified as highly suitable. Content experts provided a final percentage of 79.00%, indicating feasibility. Student responses to this evaluation tool reached a final percentage of 93.17%, indicating a very high level of interest. Thus, it can be concluded that the development of a creative thinking evaluation tool based on the Microsoft Sway application for the Pythagorean Theorem material is suitable for use as an evaluation instrument in mathematics learning.

Abstract

The background of this research is that there are still many students who are less interested and motivated in learning mathematics so that many students make mistakes in solving math word problems. The purpose of this research is to identify and identify the types of mistakes made students in working on word problems based on Newman's Error criteria and knowing the causes of students making mistakesIn doing story problems. The research method used is descriptive method with a qualitative approach . The sample of this study were 24 students of class XI MIA 3. The research instrument was tests and interviews. The test results were analyzed based on Newman's criteria, after which students were interviewed based on the types of mistakes made by students. The results of this study indicate that the types of errors made by students based on Newman's criterion analysis consist of 5 errors, namely Reading errors, Comprehension errors, Transformation errors, Process Skill errors and Endcoding errors. The biggest mistake was made at the stage of writing the final answer, namely as much as 46.67%, while the smallest error was made at the stage of understanding the questions, namely as much as 5.33%.

Abstract

Mental behavior is the activities that occur in a person's mind when solving mathematical problems. These activities are important to explore in problem solving, but exploration of activities is still rarely done by lecturers. This study aims to describe mental activities in solving mathematical problems of students who have high mathematical abilities and field independent (FI) and field dependent (FD) cognitive styles. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with the subjects of the study being mathematics education students at Syiah Kuala University in the 2023 academic year. Data collection techniques were carried out using problem-solving tests and interviews. Data analysis was carried out by data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity was carried out by time triangulation. The results of the analysis obtained mental activities in problem solving displayed by students with high mathematical abilities and FI cognitive styles were more complete than students with FD cognitive styles in the activities of reading questions, understanding questions, linking information and explaining solutions, but the mental activities displayed by FI were the same as FD at the calculation and manipulation stages. Therefore, it is necessary to provide experience to FD students to
