Abstract

This study examines community participation and empowerment in managing Goa Pindul-based tourism in Bejiharjo, Gunungkidul, managed by BUMDes Maju Mandiri. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research explores empowerment structures, power distribution, and women's roles. Findings reveal that contractual participation leads to empowerment bias and power contestation among agencies. Effective empowerment requires equitable power distribution through deliberative leadership communication. Moreover, while women play significant roles, their involvement remains confined to supporting functions, reflecting gender bias in empowerment. The study emphasizes the need to improve inclusive and sustainable empowerment structures. Implications include revising village regulations, enhancing gender awareness, and strengthening community capacity to achieve sustainable community-based tourism.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of socialization strategies, field raids, and mobile Samsat services on increasing Regional Original Income (PAD) at Samsat Gerung. Using a quantitative approach with an associative design, this research involved 51 respondents selected through a saturated sampling technique. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results indicate that socialization strategies, field raids, and mobile Samsat services do not significantly impact PAD improvement. Internal factors such as taxpayer awareness and external factors like economic constraints and service access influence strategy effectiveness. These findings suggest the need to enhance socialization strategies through innovative communication, improve mobile Samsat services with digital solutions, and enforce stricter penalties to boost taxpayer compliance. This study contributes to the evaluation of vehicle tax management policies in supporting PAD growth.

Abstract

The tradition of memaos lontar (reading lontar) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is a cultural heritage preserved by indigenous communities for generations. This tradition aims to safeguard culture through chanted lontar manuscripts, which contain valuable information about various aspects of life. A significant challenge is the language complexity, which is difficult for those without direct lineage to the manuscript's authors. However, periodic memaos activities provide a solution to this issue while fostering interactions as a form of ritual communication. This perspective highlights that ritual communication plays a role in creating, transforming, and replacing shared culture. A qualitative descriptive study with FGD revealed two main findings: (1) ritual communication in the memaos tradition encompasses dimensions of process, meaning, and communication patterns; and (2) efforts to preserve the tradition include successor regeneration and group communication to enhance interaction among pepaos.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze group communication activities conducted by Pokdarwis Bua Lawah in promoting Poto Tano Tourism Village. This qualitative research collected data through interviews, observations, and photo documentation. The findings reveal that group communication consists of internal and external communication. Internal communication is carried out through regular meetings but faces challenges with irregular member attendance. As an alternative, Pokdarwis utilizes WhatsApp groups for coordination. External communication follows a wheel communication model, with Pokdarwis acting as the central hub of information shared with businesses such as homestays, culinary services, and MSMEs when tourists visit. Additionally, the implementation of dual community practices shows Pokdarwis engaging local small businesses by offering tour packages and fostering a sense of ownership in the village. These findings highlight the importance of effective communication in collaboratively managing a tourism village.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of implementing a cloud-based accounting information system on financial transparency in the tourism sector of Lombok Island. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including quantitative analysis of 120 businesses and qualitative interviews with 25 informants. The results revealed that 90% of respondents reported improved financial transparency after adopting cloud systems, highlighting operational efficiency, reporting accuracy, and ease of data access. However, challenges such as implementation costs, limited internet infrastructure, and a lack of local expertise remain significant barriers. This study recommends local training, subsidized implementation costs, and improved infrastructure to accelerate adoption. Cloud systems are expected to enhance not only financial transparency but also the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises in Lombok's tourism sector. This research contributes to developing relevant financial technology strategies to support digital transformation in Indonesia's tourism industry.

Abstract

Extension workers play a crucial role in the strategic agricultural sector. This study aims to: (1) Describe extension services based on farmers' perceptions of importance and performance, (2) Examine the performance of agricultural extension service attributes from the perspective of farmers' satisfaction in Karang Sidemen Village, Batu Kliang Utara Subdistrict, (3) Provide solutions to improve farmers' satisfaction by enhancing the quality of extension workers' performance. A descriptive-exploratory approach was employed, using surveys, interviews, and questionnaires with quota sampling, involving 4 respondents per farmer group (chairpersons and active members). Data were analyzed using Importance Performance Analysis (IPA). Results indicate that the performance of extension workers in Karang Sidemen Village is relatively satisfactory, with an average score of 3.1. However, farmers' expectations exceed the performance delivered, with a positive comparison score of 1.217 out of 5.0. This underscores the need to improve extension service quality to better meet farmers' expectations.
