Abstract

One type of e-learning category is Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). MOOCs or MOOC promote the "democratization of education" that allows education to be accessed by everyone from anywhere and anytime. The use of MOOCs gives students access to a wide variety of resources. MOOs enable students to have the sufficient storage capacity to store their materials. MOOCs have the potential to improve digital capabilities in the face of digital transformation. The intention to use MOOC is relatively high, however, in terms of class completion rate and motivation to pass on MOOC is relatively low. These conditions need to be examined to increase the success rate of MOOCs usage. This research develops a model and identifies factors that influence the successful use of MOOCs to prepare digital talent. The approach is a mixed method that collects quantitative data using an online questionnaire and qualitative data via interviews. The researcher took data from 91 samples and eight informants for interviews. In the study results, 6 out of 12 hypotheses are accepted in this study. The factors that influence a person in completing MOOC either directly or indirectly include Performance expectancy, willingness to earn certificates, MOOC quality, and Intrinsic motivation. This research also produces recommendations that can be used as consideration for parties related to MOOC.

Abstract

Philippine Commission of Higher Higher Education (CHED)  compelled Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to adopt flexible teaching and learning and urged them to employ available flexible curriculum  with incorporates both synchronous and asynchronous learning modes and a mixture of teaching and learning methods. This study  aims to analyzed the implementation of flexible learning using decision trees. The research utilized descriptive research, where a descriptive survey was designed to identify the problems encountered, problems/ challenges, and suggest solutions by university students in the implementation of flexible learning in the campus.  Problems/challenges  on no/unreliable internet connection and cost of internet connectivity are the two (2) major problems that were encountered by the students in the implementation of flexible learning in the university.   Administrators should coordinate with the local government units to assist students in terms of internet connections. PSU should provide subsidies to assist students with the needed devices for flexible learning.

Abstract

Blended learning environments, where face-to-face and online learning are integrated, are gaining traction in education, offering opportunities for self-directed learning and intrinsic motivation. This study explores the validity and reliability of the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory (IMI) in a self-directed blended learning context. A cross-sectional design involving 651 final-year teacher students reveals high reliability in interest/enjoyment, competence, and autonomy subscales (Cronbach’s alpha: 0.94, 0.94, 0.85, respectively). A confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) indicates a favourable model fit (TLI: 0.970, CFI: 0.975, RMSEA: 0.056), reinforcing the IMI's appropriateness in this setting. Factor loadings demonstrate convergent validity, which emphasises the importance of interest, competence, and autonomy in fostering intrinsic motivation. The use of convenience sampling and the exclusion of the belonging factor due to low reliability are identified as limitations in this study. Future research might explore the use of diverse populations, longitudinal studies, additional constructs, and qualitative insights. This study contributes to educational research by validating the IMI in self-directed blended learning, emphasising the need for engaging experiences, competence, and autonomy to enhance intrinsic motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of utilizing the digital game Wordwall in improving students' vocabulary at SMAN 1 Gowa, specifically in class XI MIPA 3. The research method employed a pre-experimental approach with pretest and posttest measurements. The population for this study consisted of all students at SMAN 1 Gowa, while a random sample of 35 students was selected from Class XI MIPA 3. The analysis revealed that the mean score on the pretest was recorded as 82.34, whereas it increased significantly to 98.31 on the posttest. By conducting a paired-sample t-test statistical analysis with a significance level set at α = 0.05, a significant difference between the mean scores of the pretest and posttest was found (p <0.05). This indicates that using Wordwall as a digital game effectively enhances students' vocabulary. In conclusion, this research supports the hypothesis that employing Wordwall as a digital game can improve students' vocabulary at SMAN 1 Gowa. The positive outcomes resulting from an increase in posttest scores have important implications for English teachers who may consider incorporating game-based technology like Wordwall as an engaging and interactive tool for vocabulary learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a digital module for Digital Literacy for children and young people who were KPop fans in Makassar, to prevent cyberbullying. Data showed that that K-Pop fans consisting of children and teenagers in Indonesia were one of the largest Internet users in the world. The high use of the internet was also directly proportional to the cyberbullying that occured to them, not only as victims but also as perpetrators. This was the reason, why this study was important to investigate even though many researches on digital literacy had been carried out, but not many had been found specifically targeting KPop fans, while they were active internet users. This study was development research referring to the 4-D model (Four) that proposed by S. Thiagarajan and Semmel (1974), which consisted of 4 stages of development, namely the stage of defining (Define), Design , Development (Develop), and dissemination (Disseminate), then reduced to a 3-D model which only consisted of 3 stages of development, namely the stage of defining (Define), Design, Development (Develop). The results produced a Digital Literacy Module, which emphasized content on digital skills, consisting of Devices used, Search Engines, social media applications and online conversations and shopping, all of which were adapted to the characteristics of KPop Fans.
