Abstract

The implementation of blended learning, combining face-to-face and online methods, presents a potential solution for primary schools in the new normal era. However, concerns arise regarding its effectiveness, especially regarding potential learning loss among students. This study addresses this gap by investigating learning loss in Makassar City elementary schools utilizing a descriptive survey design. Among 314 randomly selected students, 56.37% reported experiencing learning loss, with causal factors including student readiness (63.28%), teacher readiness (25.06%), and facility readiness (11.6%). Categorization of learning loss levels revealed varying degrees, with 6.68% very high, 24.85% high, 40.11% moderate, 22.60% low, and 5.65% very low. Predominantly, learning loss was attributed to student readiness. However, teacher and facility readiness also played significant roles. Importantly, implementing blended learning with a pedagogical flow showed promise, with 43.63% of students reporting no learning loss. This research underscores the need for comprehensive strategies to address learning loss in blended learning environments, emphasizing student preparedness while also enhancing teacher and facility support. As educators navigate the challenges of the new normal, understanding, and mitigating learning loss are essential for ensuring effective educational outcomes.

Abstract

As assessment is an integral part of student learning, schoolteachers need to create appropriate assessments, through the use of the Table of Specifications, to get accurate feedback from the students. Recording of student performance is also important to provide basis and transparency to student grades. However, these activities are laborious when performed. This study aims to development and validate a web application that covers the electronic generation of tests with Table of Specification (TOS) and the recording of student performances in an electronic class record (grade book). User requirements were captured through interviews and documentary analysis. The application was developed using the Agile Scrum Framework and was tested for usability using the System Usability Scale (SUS). The developed system proved to be usable with a general SUS score of 81.25 which is interpreted as usable and conforms to the given requirements. The results indicates that the developed system is very useful to the teachers specially during this pandemic period were flexible learning is utilized for teaching and learning.

Abstract

Educational opportunities are part of the culture of peace, which includes many areas of the community's well-being. This study comes up with a new way to measure school peace culture called the School Peace Culture Scale (SPCS). The researcher made the tool by evaluating it theoretically, checking its content validity, followed by doing a confirmatory study to check its internal and external psychometrics. The people who answered were in charge of or led Vocational High Schools in Makassar. There were 63 of them, 24 men and 39 women. The Winstep Rasch Model tool is used to analyze the data. The SPCS has been carefully checked for validity, and 34 items that are particularly good at measuring factors have been found. The results indicate a reliability value of 0.91 and item reliability of 0.82. The study also proved that the proposed SPCS questionnaire can measure the level of peace in schools. Furthermore, the research has confirmed that the items in the proposed SPCS questionnaire effectively assess the extent to which peace is implemented in schools. These results provide a foundation for further investigation. The questionnaire can help determine the extent to which a peaceful culture has been established in schools. Furthermore, the SPCS concept and questionnaire could be valuable tools for assessing schools that require training in promoting peaceful education.

Abstract

This research analyzes perceptions of using ELENA from a student's perspective by harmonizing variables in the TAM and TPB theories. This research focused on students from the Department of Economic Education, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) class of 2021. Using the Slovin formula, a research sample of 205 students was obtained from 420 students. Research data was obtained using a questionnaire first tested for validity and reality. Descriptive analysis was used to determine the extent of students' perceptions of the research variables, and path analysis using the PLS method was used to test the research hypothesis. The research results show that perceived usefulness, attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control influence behavioral intention. Meanwhile, the variable that has no effect is perceived ease of use. According to the theoretical framework, attitude can mediate the influence of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use on behavioral intention. Suggestions from this research to system developers are the need for a more straightforward manual guide and the need to simplify the system so that the system is user-friendly. Meanwhile, further research can use the same model as this research in other system applications.

Abstract

The aim of the research is is to investigate the influence of empathy, self-esteem, and intrapersonal peacefulness on the development of interpersonal communication skills in teachers engaged in guidance and counseling. The study's sample comprises guidance and counseling teachers who are currently employed at the junior high school and high school levels within the South Sulawesi region. The participant pool for this research consisted of 74 teachers, who were selected by accidental sampling. The present study uses four specific scales: the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI), the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (RSES), the Self Personal Scale (SPS), and the Interpersonal Communication Scale (ICS). The presence of empathy and intrapersonal peacefulness has the potential to act as indicators for improving interpersonal communication abilities among guidance and counseling teachers in South Sulawesi. Other findings derived from the data analysis indicate that there were no statistically significant disparities observed in the duration of employment among guidance and counseling teachers across various factors, including empathy, self-esteem, intrapersonal peacefulness, and interpersonal communication. Significant disparities in levels of empathy have been identified between those identifying as female and male. Research has shown that female guidance and counseling teachers exhibit higher levels of empathy compared to their male colleagues within the same professional field. This study is the initial research in Indonesia that aims to uncover the communication abilities of guidance and counseling teachers, focusing on their individual levels of peacefulness, empathy, and self-esteem. With an emphasis on peacefulness, it is anticipated that this research will serve as a foundation for the development of new training programs designed to enhance the communication abilities of guidance and counseling teachers.

Abstract

The rapid integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in education has transformed how students learn, particularly in fostering self-regulated learning (SRL). However, understanding the mechanisms and conditions under which AI adoption influences SRL remains underexplored. This study investigates the roles of achievement goals, cognitive load, personalized learning, students' adaptability, and AI competence in shaping SRL within an AI-enhanced educational framework. The research employs Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach to analyze direct, mediating, and moderating effects while accounting for demographic controls such as age, gender, internet access, and environment. The findings reveal a complex interplay of factors. Direct effect testing showed that five hypothesized relationships, including the influence of achievement goals, cognitive load, personalized learning, and students’ adaptability on SRL, were unsupported. Mediation analysis confirmed that AI adoption significantly mediates the effects of achievement goals, cognitive load, and personalized learning on SRL, emphasizing the role of technology acceptance in enhancing learning autonomy. Moderation analysis identified that AI competence strengthens the relationship between achievement goals and SRL but does not moderate other interactions, such as those involving AI adoption or cognitive load. These results underscore the nuanced dynamics between cognitive, technological, and motivational factors in AI-enhanced learning. The study contributes to the growing literature on AI-driven education by highlighting the pivotal role of mediating variables like AI adoption and the limited yet strategic influence of AI competence. Future research should explore broader contextual and pedagogical factors to optimize the integration of AI tools in fostering self-regulated learning
