Abstract

Work stress is a common issue experienced by nurses, particularly married female nurses. Literature suggests that work-life balance enhancement can mitigate work stress. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of outsourcing-based work-life balance training in reducing job stress among married female nurses. A quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted with 10 married female nurses. Data were collected using psychological scales (pretest and posttest), daily journal entries, follow-up interviews, and post-training evaluations. Data were analyzed using paired sample t-tests with IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The data analysis showed a significant result (t(9) = 3.929, p < 0.05, 95% CI = 2.885-10.715), indicating that work-life balance training is effective in reducing job stress among married female nurses.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of coping resources training (health and energy, problem solving skills, and positive beliefs) to reduce the degree of stress in working mothers. The design used is one group pretest and posttest design. The subjects were 11 working mothers with a maximum age of 40 years, worked a minimum of 6 hours a day, and had at least 1 child who was in kindergarten-primary school. The measuring instrument uses a stress degree measuring instrument and a copin resources measuring instrument. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon rank to compare the pretest and posttest results after being given the intervention. The results of this research show that there is a reduction in the level of stress after being given interventions that increase coping resources, problem solving skills and positive belief. The implication of this research is that training in coping resources, problem solving skills and positive belief based on an experiential learning approach can be used as a method to reduce the level of stress.

Abstract

Student engagement issues are commonly found in schools, particularly among junior high school students. One of the internal factors that can enhance student engagement is students' proficiency in utilizing self-regulated learning strategies during the forethought phase. SRL forethought was provided in the form of experiential training, where students learned through their own experiences. Participants in this research were 12 students in the control group and 11 students in the experimental group. The results of the difference test indicate that SRL forethought training is effective in improving student engagement in seventh-grade students (p=0.018; z=-2.358). The control group also demonstrated significant differences between pre and post-test conditions (p=0.40; z=-2.051). In conclusion, SRL forethought training is essential for students to prevent a decline in engagement in seventh-grade students. Subsequent researchers may conduct subject randomization based on student engagement categories to achieve a more balanced initial condition.

Abstract

The educational system, teaching methods, types of assignments, and the learning environment pose distinct challenges, requiring students to possess study skills appropriate to the learning context. There is a growing body of literature that recognizes the positive influence of study skills on students' academic performance. However, research focusing on the effectiveness of study skills programs is still limited. This study analyzes the effects of study skills training on increasing student academic performance. A quasi-experiment was employed using a one-group pretest and posttest design with 59 psychology students. Data for this study were collected using student GPAs before and after the intervention. The study shows that study skills training is effective in increasing student academic performance. Higher education institutions can apply study skills training for students to optimize their academic performances. Further research is needed.

Abstract

The recurrent landslides in the Banjarnegara region has far-reaching consequences, leading to widespread unemployment as agricultural lands become unusable. To enhance the resilience of survivors, an intervention in the psychosocial context was employed, utilizing the behavioral activation technique. Fourteen women, representing family units, spanning ages from 20 to 65, participated in the program. These individuals bore the dual burden of losing their homes and enduring trauma. Analysis of resilience scale data was conducted using the Wilcoxon-signed rank test technique, revealing compelling results with Z=-2.805 and p=0.005 (p<0.01), show a significant increase in the resilience of landslide survivors through the behavioral activation technique. Recommendations for subsequent cycles include: (1) widespread application of the behavioral activation technique to empower other disaster survivors, (2) the implementation of collaborative interventions to address geographic vulnerabilities, and (3) the development of targeted interventions for male survivors to facilitate their return to work in their respective villages.

Abstract

In everyday life, mothers caring for preschool children often encounter various challenges. These challenges are related to the behavior of the child, health, and parenting, which can lead to stress. Unmanaged stress can cause physical and psychological disorders. Therefore, stress in mothers with preschool children needs to be addressed. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of emotion regulation therapy on stress in mothers with preschool children. The research participants were seven mothers aged 24 to 36 years (mean = 30) with preschool children. Data collection used the PSS-10 scale, and data analysis employed repeated measures ANOVA. The results of the data analysis showed differences in observations before, after the intervention, and follow-up. Thus, the results indicate a decrease in the perceived stress levels of mothers with preschool children. This suggests that emotion regulation therapy is effective in reducing stress in mothers with preschool children. Mental health practitioners such as psychologists can use emotion regulation therapy to assist mothers with preschool children in managing the stress they experience.

Abstract

Several studies have reported the prevalence of stressors and work- related conditions among educators in Nigerian school environments, but there are limited reports on the coping mechanisms of physics teachers. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effect of rational-emotive behavior therapy (REBT) on stress management among secondary school physics teachers. A randomized controlled group trial design was used, and the sample population comprised 64 physics teachers who served as participants. Pretest, posttest, and follow-up data were collected using the Job Stress Questionnaire (α=.73). The results showed that participants undergoing REBT experienced a significantly greater reduction in work- related stress compared to those in the control group. The findings of this study were expected to contribute to the knowledge base in measurement, counseling, and physics education. In addition, the incorporation of REBT programs was recommended to assist physics teachers in effectively managing their work-related stress.

Abstract

High self-criticism among students occurs due to increasing responsibilities, competitive demands in various aspects of life, and academic pressure. This study aims to determine the effect of self-compassion training on reducing self-criticism in students. The research used a group pre-test and post-test design. The subjects were ten students from the Islamic University of Riau. We used a self-criticism scale, The Forms of Self-Criticizing/Attacking and Self-Reassuring Scale (FSCRS) developed by Gilbert (2004). To evaluate changes in self-criticism among students, we applied the Wilcoxon test. Statistical results were obtained using the Wilcoxon Normality Test, which yielded a value of 0.005<0.05. It can be concluded that there are significant differences between the pre-test and post-test results. Self-compassion training has an impact on reducing self-criticism in students. The influence of the training provided can be understood and implemented by participants, allowing them to gain better self-understanding.

Abstract

Writing activities among higher education students are one of the primary activities. The declining interest and initiative in writing among students contrasts with the skills needed in the workforce. One way to enhance students' initiative in writing scientific papers is through coaching activities. This study aims to prove the effectiveness of Character Excellence Coaching in increasing Personal Growth Initiative (PGI) among students in writing scientific papers. The design used is one-group pretest and posttest design. The respondents were 7 students from Faculty X who are in their 5th and 7th semesters. The measurement tool used was the Personal Growth Initiative Scale-II. Wilcoxon test analysis showed a decrease in personal growth initiative scores after the intervention with a mean difference of 0.429 and a p-value of 0.850 (>0.05). This means that the Character Excellence Coaching intervention was not significantly effective in increasing the personal growth initiative among students.
