Abstract

Tjilik Riwut, Yos Sudarso and Akhmad Yani streets are main road in Palangka Raya city. On that streets there are many shopping malls, shops, offices and schools. Because of that many activities on the side of the road around the u-turn point, making the roads are often congested lane in the direction of flow and the lane in the opposite direction, so that when the rider wants to do a rotating direction, the vehicle needs to do  a normal approach as reduce speed or stop. This study aims to determine the driving behavior when turning direction and the driving behavior that could potentially cause traffic accidents at u-turn point, then to know the potential of accidents and to investigate the mathematical model between the average time of vehicle doing the twist direction with traffic volume on the streets. Based on analysis, there are seven dominant driving behavior while doing the twist direction, three of them are potentially cause accident i.e. do the twist direction against flow of traffic, rotate toward at the point that is prohibited as well as cross vehicle the same rotating direction without regard to other vehicle was speeding. The biggest accident potential is 18.070% by motor cycles at Tjilik Riwut street while the best mathematical model is exponential equation at Akhmad Yani street.

Abstract

One type of pavement that was developed in the surface layer is porous asphalt. Characteristics of porous asphalt mixture is not only influenced by the percentage of the aggregate but also influenced by the characteristics of the aggregates. Sources of different materials will provide different material characteristics. The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of porous asphalt mix material from several sources, namely Loli (Donggala) and Taipa (Palu) in the province of Central Sulawesi. The study was conducted to test the feasibility of testing the material then mix in accordance with the specifications that cantabro test, permeability, drain down and Marshall test. The results showed that based on the characteristics of porous asphalt aggregate mixture Taipa superior to other aggregate and aggregate third source can be used as porous asphalt mixture.

Abstract

Growth in the number of motor vehicles have an impact onthe increase involume, which in turn result in increased levels of pollutants resulting from the combustion engine of the motor vehicle. Congested corridors traffic rightly evaluated the air contaminant levels, so that the causesand/ortriggersand the potential negative impact of contaminants/pollutantsreferred to can be managed fruitfully. Prediction of pollutant levelsa nalogously performe dusing a variety of mathematical models that exist, where the preamble which can be used merely parameters based on the amount of traffic volume alone. Survey results showed that the volume of traffic on the roads Jl. Sudirmanis high so that the results of the simulation identified that CO, NOx and Pb are the types of pollutants whose levels have exceeded the threshold of airquality standards as required by the Minister of Environment Decree No.554/MENLH/10/1997 about the Pollutant Standards Index (ISPU) and as required under Indonesian Government Regulation No:.41/1999 on Ambient Air Quality Standards. Recommendation strategy and/or management technique is to 1) Control of pollutants in pollutant source by limiting the volume of vehicles disparsilocation-based activity, routine vehicle controll and vehicle operating restrictions of old-engined 2) Control of pollutants in the receiving contamination by limiting the duration of activity of the cur band/orusea mask covering the nose 3) environmental quality control at contaminated locations via a coveredyard of land all ocation policy (ban concrete floor) and road side vegetation 4) Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance 5) follow policies that ban covered parking area wih concrete and road side vegetation program.

Abstract

This paper presents the results of a qualitative research in type of case study about sexual harassment in the kereta KRL Ekonomi (Economics Electric Railway train) based on an actor's perspective. Two students were the subject of research, namely A and B, both were the actor of sexual harassment in the KRL Ekonomi. Both were passenger of Bogor – Depok route of the train. The results showed that A did so by starring up the victim's body, while B did by rubbing his body parts on the victim. In the act, A was not concerned with the situation in the train, while B saw the situation first before doing the action.

Abstract

This paper discusses the portraits and problems of local transport in Padang city related to some national issues which could represent the same condition in other cities in Indonesia too. It was found the private motor vehicles number on the road, especially motor cycles, is significantly higher compared to public transports. However, the public transport service tends to remain as the main transport mode in Padang, despite its decreasing percentage of usage. There were two kinds of public transports in term of mode sizes, namely the Para-transits (a passenger size public transport with maximum seat or passenger number is 11) and Medium size buses (maximum seat number is 26). However, the Medium size buses tend to be extinct and were found no longer operated since 2012. Meanwhile, the existing train service is mainly used for intercity trips although it has been existed since more than a century ago with the railway network is parallel with the major arterial roads crossing the Padang city. These figures seem to indicate the weak public transport planning and management. The local government launched newly developed Bus Rapid Transit service in February 2014. Although it might be considered premature, the recorded passenger number tends to be decreasing and hence and would end up like previous the medium size buses. The local government is suggested to address these issues seriously in order to minimize the negative impacts and potential economic loss of transport sector.

Abstract

The Nailed-slab System is not a soil improvement method, but rather as an alternative method to improve the performance of rigid pavement on soft soils. The installed piles under the slab were functioned as slab stiffeners. This research is aimed to learn the behavior of Nailed-slab System under repetitive loadings and its consideration for practical application. The full scale Nailed-slab System was conducted on soft clay which consisted of 6.00 m x 3.54 m slab area with 0.15 m in slab thickness, 15 short micro piles (0.20 m in diameter, 1.50 m in length, and 1.20 m in pile spacing) as slab stiffeners which installed under slab. Piles and slab were connected monolithically, then in due with vertical concrete wall barrier on the two ends of slab. The system was loaded by vertical repetitive loadings. Results show that the installed piles under the slab which embedded into the soils were functioned as slab stiffeners and were able to response similarly in 3D. This system has higher resistance due to vibration. Thereby, the Nailed-slab system is promising for practical application.

Abstract

Several studies on value of road safety (VRS) has been widely applied in various countries .One approach that is commonly used to valuation of road safety is to measure public willingness to pay ( WTP ) in order to increase the safety aspect. In this model preferences are based on the behavioral theory of economics perspective that explains that every human behavior based on the preferences . The basic premise of this theory explains that every human being has a preference for a number of goods. The issue of safety is included in the category of non-market goods that are not traded and often occurs refusal of the respondent to answer direct questions about WTP, therefore to obtain objective answers from respondents, WTP design questions need to be linked with other proxies. The purpose of this study was to calculate the WTP on valuation of road safety for specific communities to redesign the WTP questions associated with the proxy vehicle maintenance and health maintenance.

Abstract

A mode choice on transportation model, are developed based on the economic theory is called the Random Utility Maximization (RUM), which emphasizes the use of rationality in the selection process. In 2008, Caspar G. Chorus developed the Random Regret Minimization (RRM) theory, which facilitated the development of the voting behavior theory (choice behavior), in which a state of choice behavior minimizes regret that may arise from selection. This preliminary study aims to demonstrate differences in the calculation results in the analysis of RUM and RRM in the case of the selection of vehicle types. Such results exhibit the intermodal characteristic of work or business travel. The method of analysis used in this study is the stated preference technique. Results of the comparison analysis between RUM and RRM showed no significant difference across the purposes of travel, total travel time, and destination point.

Abstract

One of the problems cause road accidents is fault of clearance and speed. Research aimed at observing and analyzing the clearance and speed of vehicles on the highway. As a case study is a toll road in Jakarta Outer Ring Road KM 44 represent a flat road and KM 27 +700 represents downhill slope . The methodology used is the field observations and data analysis are presented with descriptive statistics and correlation analysis . The results showed that in therearenoappropriateclearancesafedistancebystoppingsight distance according to Highway Geometric Planning Standard for Toll Road and there is a speed exceeding the permitted speed limit as much as 51.6% on flat roads and on roads decreased by 18.8%. Another finding is the speed of the clearance from the exponential relationship y = 9.057e0,020x on a flat road location and establish a linear relationship on the way down with the equation y = 0.620x-1,941. Noappropriateclearancesafedistance and speed that exceeds the permitted speed limit causing safety aspects onatoll roadunfulfilled. Recommendations based on the research is the need for speed control and dissemination of the determination of the distance between the vehicle and driving speed in order to fulfill aspects of traffic safety.
