Abstract

Background: Self-efficacy is a crucial factor in the success of therapy and self-care among haemodialysis patients. The quality of vascular access care, particularly in users of double lumen catheters, significantly affects therapy effectiveness and is prone to complications such as thrombosis, which may lead to vascular access loss in 30–40% of patients. Approximately 60% of cases show suboptimal haemodialysis therapy. Studies examining the relationship between self-efficacy and vascular access care quality remain limited in patients using double lumen catheters.Purpose: This study aimed to analyse the relationship between self-efficacy and vascular access care quality in haemodialysis patients with double lumen catheters at Hospital. Methods: A descriptive correlational study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted on 60 purposively selected respondents. The CKD-SE and SF-VAQ questionnaires were used as instruments. Data were analysed using the Spearman Rank test. Results: A significant positive correlation was found between self-efficacy and vascular access care quality (p = 0.000; r = 0.620). Most respondents (68.3%) had moderate self-efficacy (mean 65.49 ± 4.755), and 31.7% had high self-efficacy (mean 85.26 ± 4.121). The quality of vascular access care was moderate in 50% and good in 43.3% of respondents (means 49.40 ± 5.001 and 70.00 ± 5.713, respectively). Conclusion: Patients with high self-efficacy generally provide better vascular access care, supporting the success of haemodialysis. Thus, nursing interventions should aim to enhance self-efficacy to improve care quality in patients with double lumen catheters.

Abstract

Background: STEMI is the most severe form of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) that occurs due to complete obstruction of the coronary artery, causing extensive myocardial ischemia and necrosis. Although Primary PCI reperfusion intervention is the main therapy and is effective in reducing mortality, many patients still experience post-operative anxiety. This anxiety can worsen cardiovascular conditions through activation of the sympathetic nervous system and HPA axis, and hinder the patient's recovery process. Therefore, non-pharmacological interventions that are appropriate to the patient's spiritual and cultural values are needed to address such anxiety. Qur'anic murottal therapy, surah Ar-Rahman, to reduce anxiety levels through the effects of relaxation and psychological calmness.Purpose: To analyze the application of murottal therapy surah Ar-Rahman to the level of anxiety of STEMI patients. Methods: Uses a case study by applying intervention for 2x in 3 days. Results: EBN intervention using statistical tests obtained an effect before and after the interventions with a p-value of 0.028, systolic BP with a p-value of 0.005, and diastolic BP with a p-value of 0.005. While HR with a p-value of 0.875.Conclusion: The application of murottal therapy surah Ar-Rahman proved effective in reducing anxiety levels and stabilizing systolic and diastolic blood pressure in patients with STEMI in the ICCU room. These results support the importance of spiritual-based non-pharmacological interventions in holistic nursing care, particularly to assist the recovery process of patients after PPCI interventions. Nurses are expected to develop competence in providing spiritual healing as part of a comprehensive nursing approach.

Abstract

Background: hypertension is a leading risk factor for cardiovascular disease and remains a major public health challenge worldwide. Patient adherence to antihypertensive therapy is often suboptimal, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Mobile health (mHealth) technologies have emerged as promising tools to enhance medication adherence and support self-monitoring of blood pressure. Objective: this review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of mHealth applications in improving blood pressure control among hypertensive patients. Methods: a systematic literature review was conducted following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. Relevant studies were identified through comprehensive searches of PubMed and Google Scholar using keywords such as “hypertension,” “telemedicine,” and “blood pressure.” Articles were screened based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, and findings were synthesized descriptively to identify trends and outcomes across studies. Results: evidence indicates that mHealth applications integrating patient education, monitoring, and behavioral support are associated with improved medication adherence and reductions in blood pressure. However, results varied across studies due to differences in intervention design, duration of use, and patient characteristics. Conclusion: mHealth applications show potential as effective adjuncts to hypertension management, but further research is needed to optimize personalization, integration with health systems, and accessibility. Proper implementation of these technologies may enhance patient quality of life and contribute to reducing the global burden of cardiovascular disease.

Abstract

Background: hemodialysis is the most common renal replacement therapy for patients with chronic kidney failure. While hemodialysis therapy can prolong the life expectancy of patients, this therapy can also cause side effects that become a symptom burden for patients. Symptom burden is the combination of physical and psychological symptoms felt by patient. The severity of symptom burden can be influenced by various factors, one of them is the length of the patient undergoing hemodialysis. Purpose: the purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the length of hemodialysis and symptom burden in patients with chronic kidney failure undergoing hemodialysis at Buleleng Regional General Hospital. Methods: this study was a descriptive correlational study with a cross-sectional approach and involved 70 respondents with chronic kidney failure obtained through purposive sampling technique. The instrument in this research used the Chronic Kidney Disease Symptoms Burden Index (CKD-SBI) and data analysis used the Chi Square test. Results: most respondents had undergone hemodialysis for ≥1 year (72.9%). Patients experienced an average of 14 symptoms with a mean symptom burden score of 21.07. The majority had mild symptom burden (84.3%). A significant relationship was found between the length of hemodialysis and symptom burden (p = 0.000) Conclusion: the duration of hemodialysis is significantly associated with symptom burden in chronic kidney failure patients. These findings highlight the importance of monitoring symptom burden, particularly among long-term hemodialysis patients.

Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a critical developmental stage characterized by identity formation and heightened vulnerability to academic stress stemming from demanding school tasks, competitive learning environments, and pressure for high achievement. These stressors may contribute to depressive symptoms, which can impair concentration, memory, social functioning, and academic outcomes. Globally, depression affects an estimated 280 million people, with the World Health Organization reporting higher rates among females. These trends underscore the need for effective and accessible mental-health interventions for adolescents, particularly those experiencing learning difficulties. Purpose: to examine the effect of group counseling focusing on self-potential exploration in adolescents with learning difficulties on reducing depressive symptoms. Methods: A quasi-experimental pre-test–post-test control group design was used. Fifty adolescents participated, with 25 assigned to the intervention group and 25 to the control group. The intervention group received structured group counseling sessions, whereas the control group took part in conventional lecture-based learning support. Depression levels were measured before and after the intervention using a standardized assessment tool. Results: Statistical analysis showed a significant difference in the reduction of depression scores between the intervention and control groups (p = 0.000). Adolescents who received group counseling experienced a greater decrease in depressive symptoms than those in the control group. Conclusion: Group counseling effectively reduces depression among adolescents with learning difficulties by fostering self-expression, emotional awareness, and positive self-potential exploration. Integrating group counseling into school-based mental-health services may strengthen psychological well-being and enhance academic resilience in this population.

Abstract

Background: dysmenorrhea has a high prevalence globally and nationally, yet it is often not managed optimally as it is considered a normal occurrence. Therefore, non-pharmacological management needs to be developed, one of which is through acupressure therapy. Acupressure is considered safer, more practical, and has fewer side effects compared to analgesics, and can be performed independently after proper education and training. Objective: this study aimed to determine the effect of Hato point acupressure therapy (Hegu LI4, Acupoint ST36, Taichong LV3, Sanyinjiao SP6) in reducing the intensity of dysmenorrhea in adolescents. Methods: this study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach and a control group. A total of 62 respondents were purposively divided into an intervention group and a control group, each comprising 31 respondents. The intervention was conducted over three consecutive days during menstruation, with a frequency of once per day, in two menstrual periods. Dysmenorrhea intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: there was a significant decrease in average pain intensity in the intervention group compared to the control group (p-value < 0.005). The intervention group showed a consistent effect with a total pain reduction of 5.81 points in March and 5.49 points in April. Conclusion: Hato point acupressure therapy is effective in reducing dysmenorrhea intensity in adolescents and can be recommended as an independent nursing intervention.

Abstract

Background: depression is a prevalent psychological condition among the elderly, often arising from physiological decline and psychosocial stressors associated with aging. The risk is notably higher among older adults residing in social care institutions due to limited social engagement and reduced cognitive stimulation. Non-pharmacological interventions, such as brain gymnastics simple coordinated movements designed to enhance cognitive activity have shown potential benefits but remain underexplored in institutionalized settings. Purpose: this study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of group activity therapy (GAT) using brain gymnastics in reducing depression levels among institutionalized elderly individuals. Methods: a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was employed. A total of 37 elderly participants experiencing mild to moderate depression were recruited through total sampling. The intervention consisted of brain gymnastics performed three times per week for two weeks, with each session lasting 15–20 minutes. Depression levels were assessed using the short-form Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS). Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: the findings demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in depression scores following the intervention (p < 0.05), indicating that brain gymnastics had a meaningful positive effect on participants’ psychological well-being. Conclusion: brain gymnastics implemented within group activity therapy is an effective, low-cost, and enjoyable non-pharmacological approach to reducing depression among the elderly. The intervention supports improved cognitive stimulation, emotional engagement, and social interaction in institutional care environments.
