Abstract

The purpose of this research is to test the effectiveness of the peer tutoring method in improving statistics mastery. The research method used is a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pre and post-test design. The minimum sample size was determined based on the estimated number of samples using G*Power 3.1.9.7 software. Subject selection was carried out using a purposive sampling method with the criteria of Psychology students at UNY taking Statistics courses, while the number of samples was 35 students. This study involved two variables, namely the use of the peer tutoring method as the independent variable and mastery of statistics material as the dependent variable. After obtaining the data, data analysis was carried out by means of a paired sample t-test with JASP software version 0.13. Prior to testing, researchers conducted a normality test with Shapiro Wilk. The results of the study found that there was a significant increase in statistical scores on the post-test compared to the pre-test measurements after the peer tutoring method was applied for 2 meetings t (34) of -2.881 with a significance (p) of 0.007 and an effect size of Cohen's d 0.487. Thus, the peer tutoring method proved to be effective in increasing student mastery in Statistics courses.

Abstract

The aims of this research are 1). prove the characteristics of Generation Z as the subject of character education, between theory and facts in the field, 2). find the possibility to reduce the gap between generations and unify the vision of character education, 3). formulate solutions and methods that can be applied so that the implementation of character education in schools can be more effectiveThe research method used is qualitative with phenomenology type. Methods of data collection using observation, interviews and questionnaires. The subjects of your research were junior high school students from several schools in Langsa City, Aceh and the border areas of North Sumatra. The informants who participated in this study were 44 students. Coming from 3 schools namely SMPN 2 Langsa, SMPN 3 Langsa and SMPN 1 Babalan, North Sumatra. The research was conducted in May 2021. The data validity technique used source triangulation and interactive analysis was used as a data analysis technique. The results of this study indicate that the characteristics of Generation Z are not fully owned by children in their early teens in research settings. In some cases, differences in character and values between teachers and students become obstacles to strengthening character education. Integrity character is the weakest character. Barriers to social relations in the development of Generation Z are caused by the fact that they are in the stage of finding their own identity and characteristics. In this situation, the teacher can take the role of guiding and providing support so that there is no gap between generations which results in culture shock between the teacher and student relationship. The initial conditions of the Z generation can be used as a reference for determining teacher efforts in obtaining keys in interpersonal relations with students and building an atmosphere that supports strengthening character education

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the factors that cause dropping out of school in Jepara Regency. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Collecting data using questionnaires, in-depth interviews, documentation, and FGDs related to the causes of dropping out of school. The research respondents consisted of school dropouts, parents, and teachers from 14 sub-districts in Jepara Regency. qualitative descriptive research procedures in a naturalistic manner. The data source was selected by purposive sampling as a sample determination. Primary data was obtained in verbal form, the words revealed based on filling out a questionnaire related to the research topic. Research instruments in the form of open and closed questionnaires are used to reveal the factors that cause children to drop out of school. This research was conducted through four stages, namely orientation, exploration, member check and reporting stage. Data collection techniques used questionnaires, in-depth interviews, documentation and FGDs related to the factors that cause children to drop out of school. Data analysis was carried out through triangulation, both source and technique triangulation. The results of the study found that the internal conditions of individuals, such as motivation and external factors from family and environment were the main factors in the dropout rate. If the child is not motivated, is not supported by the family, and is not supported by the environment, the chances of students dropping out of school will be higher. In this case, when schools have tried to persuade children to attend school but without internal motivation and support from parents, the chances of children dropping out of school are still great.
