Abstract

Rokan Hulu Regency is famous for its religious tourism with the construction of Madani Islamic Center Mosque which is visited by thousands of visitors from different regions every week. To support the characteristic of this religious tourism area, it was planned to cultivate the date palms which was inspired by the Holy Qur'an to increase the income and welfare of the community of Babussalam Village. In relation to the introduction of relatively new date fruit cultivation in Indonesia, socialization and counseling on the potential of date palms and village rules concepts in line with green constitution were necessary. This counseling aimed to provide guidance to the community of Babussalam Village Rokan Hulu District Rokan Hulu as a village that has a program of cultivation of date palms through village regulations and to improve the living standards of villagers in Babussalam as well as a pilot village of dates cultivation. Based on the five indicators (increase of participant's knowledge, the activity of the participants, the suitability of the training materials to the needs of the participants, the impact of future activity implementation and the participation rate based on the number of participants), the activity is considered successful and can improve knowledge, motivation and  of community and the apparatus of Babussalam village in implementing date palm cultivation as a trade mark for Rokan Hulu Regency as a religious tourism destination in the future.

Abstract

Cisempur village is located at the slope of Mount Geulis, having a very variated morphology from gentle slopes to very steep ones. Due to the high demand for settlements the land use change can not be avoided.  The steepness of the slope, the decrease of the number of vegetations, and the increase of load from buildings may induced land slide occurrence.  This problem motivate us to perform measurement at the area, in order to uncover the information about the level of stability and the land carrying capacity, through the study of the subsurface rock layering condition. In this work, we present the shallow resistivity by means of Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) method in two measurement lines. The obtained data is processed using 2D inversion method, in order to obtain the layering structure cross-section. The interpretation of the results suggest the existence of sandstone, which is normally associated with the location of aquifer and tuffaceous clay. The tuffaceous may function as the slide plane in the land slide event. The interpretation also shows that the carrying capacity decrease very extremely at the settlement site, which is indicated by the land displacement. This information has to be socialized and transferred to the inhabitant, in order to build awareness, and the land slide disaster mitigation can be carried out.

Abstract

One of the largest mangosteen producing areas in Tasikmalaya Regency, which is in 8 villages in Puspahiang Sub-district. Mangosteen farmers Puspahiang district relies on export quality because the price is 3 times more expensive. However, due to farmers' pursuit of mangosteen the quality of exports of farmers will be much to remove the mangosteen fruit harvest that does not enter the quality of exports such as too small fruits or infected yellow sap disease. In addition, if the mangosteen reached in end season, mangosteen farmers in Puspahiang will switch to other livelihoods. Mangosteen pericarps has been used by generations as a medicine. Socio-economic study to community in the form of the introduction of ECO-friendly technology (TTG) Mangosteen extraction has been aimed to determine the response of mangosteen farmers in Puspahiang in the development of the Mangosteen Extract Center for the needs of the Herbal and Nutrition Medicine industries. The survey method was carried out, socialization, pre-test and post-test. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. The socio-economic survey showed that the Puspahiang community is almost 100% in agreement with the construction of the mangosteen leather extrator center. However, 60% of the public is concerned about the processing of waste extracts. Subsequently, it needs to be done waste treatment studies on the socio-economic community.

Abstract

Beef Cattle have a role as saving for farmers to continue their business, although not profitable based on business analysis. Therefore, the right strategy is needed according to the problems of both the culture and the resources of farmers. The community service activity was conducted in a beef cattle farmer groups as cattle breeding for calf production, namely, are Mergo Andini Makmur and Sumber Ayu in Sleman Regency. The beef cattle productivity in the two groups is not good, S/C is more than twice, even up to four times, postpartum estrus is more than one year, and calving interval is more than 2 years. The beef cattle farmer groups have already diversified their business, which is the processing of manure and waste product of cattle, but not yet optimal. Community service is carried out to improve reproductive performance of cattle through the providing of a superior bull for bull stimulation, counseling, assistance in the prevention of worm infections, and demonstrations of compost and feed quality production. The first stage is preparation, including consolidation with the member farmer groups, followed by the socialization of the activity program. The next stage of implementation, by conducting reproductive and breeding management counseling, cattle health management, feed processing and management, and compost production. The result of the implementation of a bull stimulation for one month is based on the emergence of estrus (more than 50%) following by a conception rate (33.33%) of the cows population, and the level of participatory farmers. The demonstration of the fermented straw feed and compost is also implemented as a supporting activity.

Abstract

The prevalence of blindness in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) reaches 1.0% and the ratio of blindness to ophthalmologist reaches 1:8000. This data means NTT is a place which has vision issues. Blindness is caused by cataract. Untreated cataracts can reduce the productivity of patients and his/her caretaker for quite a long time. Cataract surgery will not only cure the patient’s blindness, but it will also improve the local economy if it is sustainable and on time. Lack of human resources, funds, and medical equipment are the major problems for performing cataract surgery in this area. The cataract surgery is performed at Elisabeth Lela Hospital. Visual acuity is performed before the surgery and 21-35 days after the surgery. The last step is calculating the Sight Restoration Rate (SRR) of all patients. Cataract surgery was conducted to 92 eyes. the SRR of all patients is 46.7%. There are four eyes (4.34%) with post-operative visual acuity <3/60.

Abstract

Pucang Village was consisted of eruption materials of Merapi Volcano. The relatively high coefficient of permeability of the materials consisting this area caused rainwater to directly infiltrate into the ground. Evaluation of engineering geological conditions was conducted for construction of a detention pond in this area, which had limited water supply for daily activities. The evaluation was conducted on results of a 1:10.000 scale of engineering geological mapping and analyses of 1:10.000 scale of geological disaster maps produced by previous researchers. The engineering geological mapping involved mapping of morphological condition and active geomorphic process, lithological condition, existence of geological structure, and water source location. The evaluation results showed that the proposed location met the land suitability criteria for detention pond construction based on the morphological condition and active geomorphic process, existence of geological structure, and water source location, but did not meet those based on the lithological and vulnerability to Merapi Volcano eruption disaster. Construction of impermeable layer to prevent water seepage into the ground and periodic removal of sediment in the base of the detention pond were suggested to be carried out to keep the detention pond functioning properly.
