Abstract

Dance and drama education is very important for PGSD S-1 students as a pedagogical provision for prospective teachers to teach children's literature in elementary school. This research is a descriptive qualitative research that aims to analyze the understanding of children's literary concepts in PGSD S-1 students in dance and drama education lectures. The data collection technique used a questionnaire which was then analyzed by the data analysis of the Cresswell model. The results showed that most students had a good understanding of children's literature, namely 96.5% and 98.% of students stated an increase in understanding through drama performance arts activities. In addition, 98.9% of students feel more able to identify elements of children's stories after practicing drama. The integration of performing arts also increases the interest of all students in children's literature learning. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen performance arts-based learning strategies as an effort to improve children's literary literacy in the university environment. Thus, increasing student literacy towards children's literature can be achieved optimally because it is accompanied by innovation and continuous evaluation.

Abstract

Road traffic injuries are a serious global health issue, especially in nations with low and moderate incomes. In 2021, for example, the Asia-Pacific region accounted for approximately 60% of all worldwide traffic fatalities, a figure that highlights the urgency of the problem. In Indonesia, a developing country, motorcycles are the most popular mode of transport, but they are also the deadliest, with riders accounting for over 70% of traffic deaths between 2013 and 2018. This issue is particularly pronounced among young adults (aged 18–25), who are responsible for 51% of all traffic accidents in the country. To address this, a comprehensive study was conducted using a modified Motorcycle Rider Behaviour Questionnaire (MRBQ) engaged to the Indonesian context. The research aimed to identify factors associated with unsafe riding behaviors, which are primarily driven by human factors. Of the 96 riders approached, 92 participated (96% response rate); most were male (61.25%), aged 19–20 years, students (97.80%), and used automatic motorcycles (89.70%), with 72% having less than 10 years of riding experience and 58% reporting a near-crash in the past year. Traffic violations (M = 3.65 ± 0.46) and errors (M = 2.12 ± 0.32) were the most prevalent behaviors and were significantly associated with negative attitudes, social norms, and crash involvement (r = 0.15–0.45, p < 0.01), whereas stunt-related behaviors were rare (M ≈ 1.02) and formed a distinct factor. These findings highlight the need for targeted interventions that focus on psychological factors like negative attitudes and social norms, which were found to be strongly linked to risky riding and crash history. This study demonstrates that the MRBQ exhibits a context-specific four-factor structure (errors, violations, safety gear violations, and stunts) among Indonesian young adult motorcyclists with strong psychometric support, while also highlighting the need for further item refinement and alternative data collection methods to address contextual behaviors.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the results of contour map creation using the closed polygon method through the Surfer 15 program in the area of the Semarang State Polytechnic Directorate Building, which includes the area of the Directorate Building - PKM - SC Building - Cooperation Building. Contour map creation was carried out to determine the topographic conditions and characteristics of the land slope in the area, which affect the planning and development of campus infrastructure. The methods used in this study include collecting coordinate and elevation data in the field, data processing using the closed polygon method to obtain high accuracy in positioning, and land surface modeling with Surfer 15 software. The results of data processing are presented in the form of contour maps and cross-sections and longitudinal sections, which are then analyzed to determine the level of land slope in each measurement segment. From the analysis results, it was found that the topography in the section of the Directorate Building - PKM - SC Building - Cooperation Building showed significant variations in height. Based on the measurement results, the slope of the land in the cross section A–A (Directorate–PKM) is 5.12%, section B–B (Directorate–PKM) is 3.59%, section C–C (Directorate–SC Building) is 7.94%, and the longitudinal section of the Tennis Court–Workshop Building has a slope of 2.44%. These values indicate that the research area has varying elevation differences, with a tendency of gentle to moderate slopes. Overall, the results of this study indicate that the closed polygon method and modeling with Surfer 15 are able to provide an accurate and detailed topographical picture of the land conditions in the Semarang State Polytechnic environment. This land slope information can be used to support spatial planning, drainage, and the development of more efficient and sustainable campus facilities.

Abstract

Adequate lighting is crucial for supporting comfortable and effective classroom learning. This study evaluated the artificial lighting levels in a second-floor classroom on the C Building of Semarang State Polytechnic using a digital luxmeter. The research method used was to measure artificial lighting locally and generally. The final measurement results were compared to SNI 03-6575-2001, which requires a minimum value of 350 lux for classrooms. The measurements showed that most points had lighting values below 200 lux, indicating that the lighting did not meet the standard. The low lighting levels were caused by several malfunctioning lamps and uneven light distribution due to suboptimal fixture layout and room reflectance. These findings indicate the need for lighting system improvements to enhance visual comfort and support the learning process.

Abstract

Kalirejo Village, Kokap Subdistrict, Kulon Progo Regency, is one of the areas with a high level of vulnerability to landslides due to the geological conditions and hilly topography as well as high rainfall. The lack of vulnerability zoning maps and evacuation routes makes it difficult for the community to take quick and appropriate mitigation measures. This Community Service Program (PkM) aims to develop a landslide mitigation system based on Internet of Things (IoT) technology through the Sibejo Rescue application and by installing evacuation signs at strategic points. The implementation method includes a field survey to identify locations prone to landslides, soil characteristic testing, vulnerability mapping using a Geographic Information System (GIS), designing the IoT-based Sibejo Rescue application, testing the application with village officials, and installing evacuation route signs and assembly points. The results of the activity showed that the landslide vulnerability map was successfully compiled into three categories (low, medium, high) and integrated into the Sibejo Rescue application. Limited trials with village officials showed that the application can display spatial information in the form of vulnerability maps, evacuation routes, and shelter points functionally. In addition, the installed evacuation signs facilitate the identification of Rescue routes when a disaster occurs. The conclusion of this activity is that the integration of vulnerability maps, IoT applications, and evacuation signs can be a first step towards improving landslide mitigation in Kalirejo, although broader public awareness campaigns are still needed in the next phase

Abstract

The community service activity conducted with the partner GreenFarm Hydroponic aims to address the partner’s issue of conventional temperature regulation in the hydroponic system, where temperature levels fluctuate depending on environmental conditions. This instability reduces dissolved oxygen levels and inhibits plant growth. The activity includes training on the installation and operation of an automatic water-cooling system. The developed cooling system utilizes an Outseal Mega V2 Slim, NodeMCU ESP32, DS18B20 temperature sensor, evaporator chiller, outdoor AC unit, LCD, relay, contactor, and Blynk-based monitoring. This device is capable of maintaining water temperature at the ideal level of 27°C through both automatic and manual modes. The implementation of this technology not only enhances temperature stability and production quality but also facilitates remote monitoring and reduces manual intervention. This program demonstrates the role of vocational higher education in providing practical technological solutions that support the sustainability of hydroponic enterprises. The activity was successfully carried out, with GreenFarm Hidroponik now able to operate the automatic cooling system either via panel buttons or through the Blynk IoT application.

Abstract

Ruang Terbuka Hijau (RTH) plays an important role in maintaining environmental quality and enhancing comfort within educational areas; therefore, an evaluation of existing conditions and optimization strategies is required at Politeknik Negeri Semarang. This study aims to map and analyze the area and spatial distribution of RTH using field surveys and data processing based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The results show that the total area of Politeknik Negeri Semarang is 111,251 m², with RTH covering 19,086.1 m² or 17.16% of the total area. Although this proportion meets the minimum requirement for private green open space, it remains below the ideal standard of 30%. The uneven distribution of RTH and variations in vegetation quality indicate the need for optimization through the utilization of potential land and improvement of green space quality. This study concludes that RTH is an effective decision-support tool for sustainable planning and management of green open space.

Abstract

Vegetable farmers in Bebengan Village, Kendal Regency, still mostly water their crops manually, resulting in inefficient water usage and inconsistent watering timing. Additionally, the water quality for irrigation has not been monitored regularly, even though pH and PPM parameters affect nutrient availability and plant growth. This service activity aims to implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-based automatic plant watering technology that can monitor pH and PPM and provide easy control through Google Assistant. The implementation methods include observing partner needs, designing and assembling an Arduino ATmega 2560 and ESP8266-based system with pH and PPM sensors, installing it on a 200 m² cultivation area, integrating remote monitoring and control, and training farmers on operating and maintaining the equipment. Implementing the system allows for more scheduled/controlled watering and provides real-time pH and PPM information as a basis for decision-making. In conclusion, the implementation of this IoT system improves the effectiveness of the watering process, supports water quality monitoring, and simplifies operations through voice-based control, thus potentially increasing cultivation efficiency at the farmer level.
