Abstract

This study sought to provide a nuanced understanding of how can metacognitive strategies can be implemented for improving students’ listening comprehension skill of Eight graders students of Junior High School in Malang. This study employed Classroom Action Research in one cycle. This study was done in eight meetings, in which the preliminary and final tests were done in first and last meetings. Each meeting employed metacognitive strategies and Three-Phase Technique simultaneously; 1) Planning stage with Pre-listening phase, 2) Monitoring stage with Whilst-listening phase, and 3) Evaluating stage with Post-listening phase. The data gathered qualitatively through observation sheets, field notes, students’ interview, students’ questionnaire. The findings of this study found several trends of MSI that can improve students’ listening skill, namely strengthen students’ prior knowledge, incorporate process-based discussion, and the importance of teacher’s talk in MSI. However, Therefore, for further research in the same realm, it is urged to employ the results of this study as one of references in conducting research in similar field of the study. However, deeper evaluation concerning the findings of this study also need to be taken into account as this study could not be used as overgeneralization context as this study only use small sample.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to (1) describe the characteristics of an ideal teacher based on the results of a literature review, and (2) create a competency map and indicators for an ideal teacher. Data of this study were obtained from various primary sources including literature reviews, documents and results of interviews with 10 experienced teachers. The data were analyzed qualitatively by using thematic analysis. This study shows that there are at least seven main competencies that should be possessed by a teacher which include (1) Intellectual competence (2) Pedagogical competence (3) Professional Competence (4) Intrapersonnel competence. (5) Interpersonal Competence (6) Leadership Competence and (7) Spritual Competence. This study also proposed 66 (sixty six) indicators as the characteristics of the seven competencies of ideal teacher.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan karakteristik guru ideal berdasarkan hasil kajian pustaka, dan (2) membuat peta kompetensi dan indikator guru ideal. Data dari penelitian ini diperoleh dari berbagai sumber primer antara lain kajian pustaka, dokumen dan hasil wawancara dengan 10 orang guru berpengalaman. Data dianalisis secara kualitatif dengan menggunakan analisis tematik. Kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa setidaknya ada tujuh kompetensi utama yang harus dimiliki oleh seorang guru yang meliputi (1) Kompetensi Intelektual (2) Kompetensi Pedagogik (3) Kompetensi Profesional (4) Kompetensi Intrapersonal. (5) Kompetensi Interpersonal (6) Kompetensi Kepemimpinan dan (7) Kompetensi Spiritual. Penelitian ini juga mengusulkan 66 (enam puluh enam) indikator sebagai ciri dari tujuh kompetensi guru ideal.

Abstract

Dalam program immersion, diperlukan materi pengenalan budaya untuk meminimalisasi gegar budaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) sesi orientasi budaya Indonesia yang diperoleh dan (2) materi budaya Indonesia yang dibutuhkan pemelajar BIPA sebelum immersion. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) sesi orientasi budaya Indonesia yang diperoleh pemelajar BIPA dapat membantu mengantisipasi gegar budaya dan (2) materi budaya Indonesia yang dibutuhkan pemelajar BIPA adalah materi tentang cara berpakaian, berkomunikasi, makan, menggunakan transportasi, informasi makanan, serta hubungan antara lawan jenis. Hasil penelitian ini dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan validasi bahwa materi budaya dibutuhkan pemelajar BIPA untuk mengantisipasi gegar budaya.

Abstract

Several previous studies have revealed that training provides positive and significant benefits to employees. Vocational school teachers are seen as needing to improve their competence in order to meet the demands of their work. This research aims to conduct an analysis of the training needs for vocational school teachers who teach PKK subjects within the framework of the Merdeka Curriculum. Survey methods and quantitative approaches are the methods and approaches applied in this research. The population in this study was 22 teachers who taught PKK (Creative Projects and Entrepreneurship) subjects at SMKN 1 Pacet Cianjur. The sampling technique used in this research was saturated sampling. Data collection in this research used a questionnaire prepared on a Likert scale. The data in this study were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results obtained in this study indicate that teachers at SMKN 1 Pacet Cianjur who teach PKK (Creative Projects and Entrepreneurship) subjects need training to improve and develop their competencies. The majority of teachers consider that they need advanced training about PKK subjects. The advanced level training teachers require is focused on training regarding learning materials and implementation of learning. The implications of the research show that educational institutions need to prioritize developing the competencies of their teachers and provide training that is able to meet the needs identified in this research.

Abstract

Corpus linguistics plays an important role in studying Arabic because it can collect Arabic data from various sources and analyse them comprehensively. This research aims to develop Arabic learning media in the form of an Arabic-Indonesian Android dictionary based on corpus linguistics for high school students that is valid and practical. The development model used is the development model of Richey & Klein. The results showed that the learning media of the Arabic-Indonesian dictionary based on corpus linguistics integrated Android application is valid and practical to be used in learning. The findings of this study not only underline the potential of dictionary learning media in the learning environment but also highlight the practical implications of incorporating this kind of media into the Arabic language curriculum to facilitate students in learning the language

Abstract

This study aims to produce a minimum competency assessment instrument for high school physics. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of the minimum high school physics competency assessment instrument (AKMPhys). This research is research and development research. Selection of test subjects using purposive sampling. This research and development resulted in the quality of the AKMPhys instrument in terms of content validity, the Aiken's V score was in the valid category. The empirical validity based on item compatibility with the IRT Rasch model and PCM approach proved that 80 items fit the model. Reliability estimation based on Cronbach's Alpha reliability is obtained with very reliable criteria. The item difficulty level is in the range of -3.5 to 2.9.

Abstract

Self-regulated learning (SRL) is an important skill to acquire for students because it helps students to have a better academic achievement, study skills, self-efficacy, and learning motivation in a learning process. Teachers are required to have high level of knowledge about SRL to be able to teach SRL to their students. Thus, this study was aimed to examine teachers’ knowledge of SRL. This study employed a quantitative method using survey design involving 42 EFL teachers from junior and secondary schools in two districts in Gresik Regency. A knowledge test to measure teachers’ content knowledge of SRL (SK-SRL) and pedagogical content knowledge of SRL (PCK-SRL) was administered to collect the data. The result of this study showed that EFL teachers hold a moderate level of knowledge of SRL. This means that EFL teachers understand the general concept of SRL, various types of SRL strategies such as cognitive, metacognitive, and motivation as well as emotion strategies. Moreover, teachers also understood about the three-cyclical phases of SRL which were the forethought, monitoring, and evaluation phase as well as various activities in each phase. However, they still need more insight about how to diagnose students’ SRL competence and skills, and need to explore more various ways to teach SRL to their students.

Abstract

Abstract: The reseaarch aims to describe the optimism of the characters in the novel Rapijali 1 Mencari. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with a sociological approach to literature whose role is to explore the form of optimism of the characters presented by the author. The data in this study are in the form of excerpts of sentences, paragraphs related to the focus of the research. Data source using the Rapijali 1 Mencari by Dee Lestari. Based on the results of the study, it was found that there are three forms of optimism, namely the first harvesting, the second pervasiveness, and the third personalization. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsika sikap optimis (optimisme) tokoh dalam novel Rapijali 1 Mencari. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Pendekatan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan psikologi sastra yang berperan untuk menggali bentuk optimisme tokoh yang disajikan pengarang. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa kutipan kalimat, paragraf yang berkaitan dengan fokus penelitian. Sumber data menggunakan novel Rapijali 1 Mencari karya Dee Lestari. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa bentuk sikap optimis (optimisme) terdapat tiga macam yaitu pertama pemanensi, kedua pervasivitas, ketiga personalisasi.

Abstract

Nowadays, teachers do not always graduate from the education faculty. This phenomenon attracts researchers to conduct a study about the strategies to develop teacher professional identity, specifically for teachers from non-education faculty. In this study, the researchers implemented a case study method. To collect the data, the researchers distributed a closed-ended questionnaire to six teachers from the non-education faculty and did interview sessions. The researchers concluded the three major findings, namely (1) perceiving oneself, (2) gaining valuable insight through the teacher community, and (3) doing reflection on previous teaching experiences.

Abstract

This research explores the influence of using open-ended worksheets in interactive demonstration learning on students' understanding of harmonic motion and scientific reasoning. It is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. Data were obtained from conceptual understanding and scientific reasoning tests and analyzed using parametric and non-parametric tests. The results show that open-ended worksheets enhance students' concept comprehension and scientific reasoning. There was a significant difference in conceptual understanding between the two classes. However, there was no difference in scientific reasoning. These findings hold valuable implications for improving learning with open-ended worksheets and interactive demonstration models.
