Abstract

This paper explains the political situation in the Ternate region during the Soekarno era. The foundation that gave a noble position to the nobility (which had been changed during the Dutch colonial era), was again hit by the construction of the ideology of state nationalism, which prioritized the basis of loyalty to the state. The role and position of the autonomous elite in the Ternate Sultanate which had been enjoyed for centuries, was challenged by the construction of the ideology of a unitary state that prioritized the basis of loyalty to the state by separating public positions in a modern political format with traditional power. Thus a sultan does not automatically become a governor or regent but is elected through a contestation through a political party or positions in the bureaucracy are no longer something that is genealogically attached but must be based on certain competencies.

Abstract

This research discusses the transformation of knowledge and maritime culture of the Makassar Bugis people in South Sulawesi which is caused by developments in science, technology, and socio-economic transformation. The method used in this research is qualitative research, with analysis looking at the relationship between the main aspects of the transformation that occurred in the maritime knowledge and culture of the Makassar Bugis people. The research results show that maritime transformation is occurring rapidly at present, marked by a shift in boat propulsion and navigation technology from traditional to modern. Structural transformation in maritime culture refers to significant changes in the social, economic, and cultural structures in maritime communities. Factors such as globalization, technological modernization, and economic changes are driving this transformation.The transformation of maritime culture influences traditional values ​​and practices, while access to modern knowledge enriches the way society interacts with the sea and maritime resources.

Abstract

Research on strengthening oral traditions is very important to do because literary products in oral form have been found less. Researchers who conduct research related to this local wisdom will contribute to the community itself as support in the field of art and culture and support tourism and creative economy in Bolaang Mongondow. This research is a continuation from 2022 which is located in the Minahasa area. Research to be carried out in 2023 on: Strengthening Oral Traditions: Literature and Performing Arts as an Effort to Preserve Regional Language and Traditional Cultural Values of the Bolaang Mongondow Community.

Abstract

Pada era perkembangan informasi dan globalisasi ini banyak nilai-nilai murni yang berasal dari suku Sunda yang mengalami pergeseran dan westernisasi. Orang tua yang memberikan pola asuh dengan nilai kesundaan, maka karakter yang dimiliki oleh anak akan baik pula dan akan berpengaruh kepada perilaku sosial anak tersebut. Penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai-nilai khas dalam pola pola asuh yang ditanamkan oleh orang tua yang berasal dari Suku Sunda. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan pengumpulan data melalui proses wawancara terhadap empat responden berkriteria lansia dengan rentang usia 60-75 tahun. Dari penelitian yang dilakukan, diperoleh hasil bahwa nilai yang ditanamkan pada pola asuh orang sunda berupa, someah, tata krama, silih asah, silih asuh, jujur, dan tegas.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the form and distribution pattern of megalithic cultural relics found in Bima Regency. The method used is a survey to see the entire site to obtain data on the shape and type of megalithic culture. In general, the results of this study show that there are six sites, namely Wadu Ntari Site, Wadu Nocu So Kaliwu Site, Wadu Nocu So Jalamba Site, Wadu Nocu Site, Wadu Nocu Renda Site, and Wadu Nocu Laraji Site. In total, there are 17 remains, namely wadu nocu (15 finds), wadu dako (one find), and wadu lesu (one find). Most of the sites are scattered in a random pattern, where the sites occupy plantation land, close to human settlements and rivers. Based on their environmental conditions, the sites are scattered in mountainous and lowland areas with altitudes between 60-720 meters above sea level.

Abstract

Makalah ini mengkaji hubungan antara Islam dan spiritualitas manusia Bugis, dua elemen yang telah membentuk identitas dan budaya masyarakat Sulawesi Selatan selama berabad-abad. Sejarah Islam di Sulawesi Selatan menunjukkan proses akulturasi yang dinamis, di mana ajaran Islam tidak hanya diadopsi tetapi juga disesuaikan dengan nilai-nilai dan tradisi lokal. Melalui perdagangan, dakwah, dan hubungan dengan kerajaan-kerajaan Islam lainnya, Islam menjadi bagian integral dari budaya Bugis. Spiritualitas manusia Bugis, yang berakar pada nilai-nilai seperti siri’ (kehormatan), ada tongeng (kata-kata yang jujur), lempuk (kejujuran), getteng (ketabahan), sipakatau (saling menghormati), dan mappesona ri dewata seuwae (tunduk pada kehendak Tuhan), menunjukkan bagaimana identitas spiritual dan moral mereka terbentuk. Proses ini memperlihatkan toleransi agama yang tinggi dan interaksi yang harmonis antara Islam dan budaya lokal. Dengan demikian, makalah ini menyoroti pentingnya memahami identitas yang kompleks dan beragam dalam masyarakat Sulawesi Selatan, di mana sejarah, agama, dan budaya berperan dalam membentuk identitas kolektif yang kaya dan dinamis.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze consumer behavior on sophistication-based travel agencies in the cities of Makassar and Lombok. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with both quantitative and qualitational approaches. Data collection is done through interviews, observations, questionnaires, document studies, and focus group discussions. The findings show several trends and patterns of consumer behavior in the travel industry, including: increased use of digital technology, preference for meaningful and sustainable travel experiences, personalization of technology-based services, flexibility in travel planning, and search for unique and authentic experiences. The travel components that tourists mainly consider include transportation, accommodation, tourist attractions, food facilities, and gourmet shops. This research provides insight into the development of marketing strategies and preparation of maritime tour packages that match the current trends and consumer preferences.

Abstract

This research aims to present the narration's structure, identify the narrator's type and positions, and identify the type of focalization. The method used in this research is qualitative, with an objective approach focusing on intrinsic elements of the novel. Based on the analysis of the data, it was found that the novel Le service des manuscrits employs the framed narrative technique, with inserted text that serves to explain and complement the primary text. The narrator in this novel is of the heterodiegetic type, situated at the metadiegetic level. The type of focalization in this novel is variable focalization. The framed storytelling technique in Le service des manuscripts provides a distinctive yet complex reading experience, as the layered structure of the story universe is narrated and focalized through several types of narrators and characters involved in the story.

Abstract

Historically sea has been a theatre for action, in which one party exercised its power over the others. But, is the history of maritime piracy as old as the history of human activities in seas? What is maritime piracy itself? Who can be considered maritime pirates? This question emerges because the definition of maritime piracy itself is dynamic. It changes in line with the changing contexts of space and time. This article attempts to answer these questions by referring to the case of maritime piracy in Southeast Asia from sixteenth to nineteenth century. This article aims to show the dynamics of the meaning of maritime piracy, and how such a notion could turn to be a convention. It uses secondary sources since it has no pretension to contribute new data, but rather it aims at showing how a notion of maritime piracy could turn to be a regime of truth.
