Abstract

This study examines the impact of social media and motivational sources on learning achievement during the pandemic among junior high school students. The research specifically analyzes the effects of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, as well as the role of social media in providing support for learning.Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 327 students through questionnaires and analyzed via regression analysis. The results indicate that intrinsic motivation significantly influences learning achievement (B = 0.135, t(198) = 5.150, p < .001), while extrinsic motivation also has a significant effect (B = -0.057, t(198) = -2.090, p = .037). However, the hypothesis regarding social media as a supporting infrastructure for learning did not yield significant results (B = 0.031, t(198) = 0.399, p = .690). In contrast, social media's role in providing social support positively impacted learning achievement (B = 0.209, t(198) = 2.567, p = .011). No significant relationship was found between gender and academic achievement (B = 0.103, t(198) = 0.328, p = .743).The regression model explained 18% of the variance in learning achievement, indicating that additional factors may influence academic success. These findings highlight the importance of fostering intrinsic motivation and suggest that educational institutions should implement strategies to enhance students' intrinsic motivation, such as engaging learning activities and supportive environments. Furthermore, schools should leverage social media as a tool for providing social support, which can enhance learning outcomes. Future research should explore effective programs aimed at increasing intrinsic motivation to ensure sustained academic achievement utilizing online learning approaches.

Abstract

Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) is a critical component in fostering teamwork, building a positive organizational climate, and driving collective performance. Yet, many employees, especially those in operational roles, demonstrate low to moderate levels of OCB, which can hinder organizational effectiveness. While previous research has largely explored personality traits or leadership influences on OCB, limited studies have tested structured interventions designed to enhance OCB by developing proactive behavior in employees. This study addresses this gap by implementing a proactive personality training program and evaluating its impact on OCB among employees in a production unit. Using a quasi-experimental design, the training was delivered to a group of employees identified with low to moderate OCB levels, while a comparable group served as a control. OCB was assessed before and after the intervention using a validated measurement tool. The results showed clear improvements in OCB following the training, with trained employees demonstrating more cooperative, helpful, and initiative-driven behaviors in the workplace. These findings suggest that proactive personality traits can be cultivated through training and have meaningful effects on organizational functioning. This study offers a practical and scalable strategy to promote prosocial workplace behavior and contributes a novel perspective to intervention-based OCB research.

Abstract

Emotional self-regulation plays an essential role within early childhood education, laying the groundwork for children to cope with emotions and build healthy interactions with others. This research analyses the improvement of preschool aged children’s emotional self-regulation using a quantitative quasi-experimental approach with a pre-test post-test group design with the Emo-Sisi “Understanding Emotion” Board Game. Emo-Sisi Board Game, by Watiek Ideo is an interactive educational game for preschoolers to identify, understand, and regulate emotions. The sample included 50 preschool children, 25 in an intervention group who engaged in structured board game sessions and 25 in a control group who received standard classroom activities. PreBERS scale was utilized to assess emotional self-regulation via pre-test as well as post-test measures. Two-tailed paired independent t- tests and the Wilcoxon signed rank test were used to analyse data. The results demonstrated that the intervention group performed significantly better than the control group on emotional recognition, emotional expression, and application of self-regulation strategies. These insights indicate that the Emo-Sisi Board Game helps to enhance emotional self-regulation skills for preschool children. Future studies are warranted to explore the long-term consequences of these interventions and their effects on wider developmental domains.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the influence of traditional parenting styles based on the local cultural value of “Mon Niku Kawai Handak Nyak Kawai Handak Munih” on the psychological well-being of adolescents. This value emphasizes balance in social relationships and serves as a fundamental principle in traditional parenting practices in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur. The sample consisted of 118 adolescents aged 12–21 years, selected using purposive sampling techniques. The instruments used included the Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ) and Ryff’s Psychological Well-Being Scale. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression JASP software. The results showed a significant influence of traditional parenting styles on psychological well-being. Proportional implementation of traditional parenting styles can improve dimensions of positive relationships with others and self-acceptance. This study provides important insights into parenting practices within the context of local culture, serving as a reference for developing interventions to enhance adolescents’ psychological well-being and contributing to the cross-cultural psychology literature.

Abstract

This research investigates the impact of father involvement on the self-esteem of individuals in early adulthood. Employing a quantitative approach, the study utilized a father involvement scale adapted from Risnawati et al. grounded in the theoretical framework of Gancy and Van Dulman, alongside a modified version of Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale as adapted by Maroqi. The sample consisted of 188 male and female participants aged 18 to 25 who currently reside with their fathers. Participants were selected through an accidental sampling technique. Data analysis using simple linear regression revealed a statistically significant relationship between father involvement and self-esteem. These findings indicate a positive and meaningful contribution of father involvement to the development of self-esteem during early adulthood.

Abstract

There is a sub-culture of hijab erotica in a country where hijab used to be a symbol of rebellion against the oppressive regime and became a conservative norm in a conservative-leaning society that rejects pornography. Researcher gathered erotic stories from an internet forum involving the characters of hijabi women as the main character. Through thematic analysis, researcher found several key themes in the stories. The themes are the identity of hijabi women as both familiar and exotic, the erotic transgression in sexual acts, the allure of innocent women, and hijab as a significant accessory in sexual intercourse. The result of this research strengthens the notion of pornography as an everchanging historical record that caught the nuance of how people view sex and its expression in any particular era of interest.

Abstract

Resilience, the capacity to adapt and recover from adversity, is increasingly relevant for understanding Generation Z, often described as the “strawberry generation” for their perceived fragility. Empirical evidence on the determinants of resilience in this cohort, however, remains limited. This study examined the influence of gender, self-efficacy, and emotional maturity on resilience among Indonesian Gen Z. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with purposive sampling of 580 respondents from Java Island. Correlation analysis revealed significant associations between resilience and gender, self-efficacy, and emotional maturity. Further regression analysis indicated that only self-efficacy and emotional maturity significantly predicted resilience, while gender did not. Geospatial mapping showed regional variation, with East Java reporting the highest resilience scores and Central Java the lowest. The findings underscore the importance of self-efficacy and emotional maturity in fostering resilience, whereas gender differences appear negligible. The study is limited by its reliance on standardized group categorization of resilience. Future research should refine measurement approaches and investigate regional variations in self-efficacy and emotional maturity to provide a more nuanced understanding of Gen Z’s adaptive capacity.

Abstract

In this study, the researcher analyzed the TEIQue-SF (Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short Form) from Petrides (2009), which consists of fifteen facets of trait emotional intelligence and is measured by thirty items. The questionnaire measures four dimensions: emotionality, sociability, well-being, and self-control. This research involved 339 respondents from Indonesia. Reliability testing was conducted using Cronbach’s Alpha. Discriminant analysis is conducted by examining the item-rest correlation. The results of this study indicate that the TEIQue-SF (Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short Form) is divided into two dimensions. The adaptation into Indonesia allows for cross-cultural validation studies and expands Indonesian contributions to global EI research. This research also facilitates more accurate and meaningful data collection in psychological research related to the trait of emotional intelligence.
