Abstract

Lack of iron intake can cause anemia in adolescents. Adolescent girls are at higher risk of developing anemia due to their physical growth, reproductive maturation, and cognitive transformation, which require high iron requirements. Some adolescent girls reported experiencing menstrual pain, one had not yet menstruated, and another looked pale. This condition is feared to impact the health of adolescent girls, especially their reproductive system, in the future. If an adolescent suffers from anemia, she will usually experience dysmenorrhea during menstruation. The purpose of this activity is to increase adolescent girls' knowledge of the importance of consuming healthy foods to prevent dysmenorrhea and anemia. The lack of adequate nutrition for the body during a period of rapid growth and development, along with the impacts that will occur on adolescent girls, is one of the reasons for the author to take preventive measures in the form of Health Education with the theme Healthy food to prevent dysmenorrhea and anemia in adolescent girls at the As'ad Islamic Boarding School in Jambi City. The activity was carried out face-to-face with participants, aiming to increase adolescent girls' knowledge about the importance of healthy and appropriate foods for adolescent girls to prevent dysmenorrhea and anemia. Abstract

Emotional development during adolescence typically involves high energy and intense emotions, while self-control is not yet perfect. Uncontrolled changes and challenges that occur during adolescence can trigger mental and emotional problems. Similarly, a lack of knowledge about mental health among adolescents at SMP IT Nurul Ilmi in Jambi City can negatively impact the surrounding community. The community service team can provide health education to adolescents. Education is provided in the form of lectures and discussions using leaflets. Ten students participated in this activity. Evaluation was conducted through pretests and posttests. The results of this community service activity showed an increase in student knowledge from 20% to 100%. Education also increased student awareness of the importance of correctly applying mental health principles. This activity demonstrates that education is effective in increasing adolescent knowledge about mental health at SMP IT Nurul Ilmi in Jambi City.

Abstract

Putri Ayu Public Health Center is one of the 20 health centers in Jambi City that has a significantly high number of adolescent pregnancy cases. Over the last five years (2020-2024), there were 164 cases of adolescent pregnancy. Specifically, there were 33 cases in 2020, 33 in 2021, 35 in 2022, 31 in 2023, and 32 in 2024. Among these cases, eight pregnancies involved adolescents aged 14-15 years. Therefore, a team of lecturers and students from Baiturrahim University felt the need to conduct a community service activity in the form of establishing an Adolescent Mother Class in Sungai Putri Sub-district, Jambi City, through a mini-workshop. The community service activity ran from September 2024 to February 2025. The mini-workshop and the establishment of the Adolescent Mother Class were held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the "Putri Kencana" KB Village Secretariat Post, RT 16, Sungai Putri Sub-district, Jambi City. The goal was to increase knowledge and change attitudes regarding adolescent pregnancy and its various issues, the importance of forming the class, and the eventual establishment of an Adolescent Mother Class, even a simple one. The mini-workshop was attended by 7 out of the 11 targeted adolescent mothers and was conducted for one day (3-4 hours). The materials were delivered through lectures, discussions, Q&A sessions, and experience sharing, using PowerPoint presentations displayed via a projector. A pre-test and post-test were administered before and after the mini-workshop. Following the activity, the average knowledge score increased by 1.6 points, and the attitude score increased by 5.0 points. It is concluded that the formation of the Adolescent Mother Class is highly crucial in changing the behavior (knowledge, attitude, and action) of these young mothers
