Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) merupakan penyakit metabolik yang dapat mengganggu fungsi reproduksi pada pria yaitu penurunan kadar hormon testosteron dan kerusakan jaringan testis. Spirulina platensis mengandung fikosianin sebagai antioksidan yang efektif untuk menurunkan kada gula darah dan kerusakan organ reproduksi pria. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui efek Spirulina platensis (SP) terhadap kadar hormon testosteron serta gambaran histopatologik testis tikus jantan diabetes yang diinduksi Streptozotocin (STZ). Tikus terbagi menjadi 6 kelompok yang terdiri dari K1 (tikus sehat yang diberi suspensi CMC-Na), K2 (tikus yang diinduksi STZ single dose 45 mg/kgBB), K3 (tikus sehat yang diberi suspensi SP 36 mg/kgBB), kelompok 4; 5 dan 6 (tikus diabetes diberi suspensi SP masing-masing dosis 36 mg/kgBB; 72 mg/kgBB dan 144 mg/kgBB). Penelitian dilakukan selama 28 hari. Parameter yang diamati adalah kadar gula darah, kadar hormon testosteron dan gambaran histopatologik testis dengan Hematoksilin - Eosin (HE). Data kadar gula darah dan hormone testosteron dianalisis secara statistik sedangkan gambaran histopatologik dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil peneltian ini menunjukkan bahwa SP pada dosis 36 mg/kgBB, 72 mg/kgBB dan144 mg/kgBB mampu meningkatkan kadar hormon testosteron yaitu 0,82 µG/mL, 1,13 µG/mL dan 1,66 µG/mL (p < 0,05) dibandingkan kelompok tikus diabetes. SP pada dosis 36 mg/kgBB, 72 mg/kgBB dan144 mg/kgBB juga mampu mencegah kerusakan epitel tubulus seminferus pada testis dibandingkan kelompok diabetes. Pada hewan uji yang diberikan dosis 144 mg/kgBB memberikan aktivitas paling baik dalam menghambat kerusakan jaringan testis disebabkan oleh induksi STZ. Secara keseluruhan, SP memiliki potensi untuk meningkatkan kadar hormon testosteron dan menghambat kerusakan jaringan testis tikus Wistar diabetes yang diinduksi STZ.

Abstract

Diabetes is metabolic disorders caused by oxidative stress that has always been linked to male reproductive dysfunction. Spirulina platensis has been used for therapeutic supplements for diabetes and repairing reproduction organs based on its antioxidant effects. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of Spirulina platensis suspension (SP) on quality and quantity of sperm also the expression of caspase-3 on testis in male Wistar rats induced by streptozotocin (STZ). This study used 30 adult male Wistar rats that divided into 6 groups of K1 (normal), K2 (single injection of STZ 45 mg/kg BW), K3 (normal rats treated with SP 36/kg BW/day) and treatment group K4, K5 and K6 were diabetic rats given with SP 36 mg/kgBW, 72 mg/kgBW and 144 mg/kg BW. The treatment was given orally for 28 days. Blood glucose level levels were measured using the biochemical analyzer. Quality and quantity of sperm were analyzed using Neubauer slide under the microscope. Apoptosis of Leydig cells was detected by immunohistochemical staining using Caspase-3 polyclonal antibodies. The result showed that there were significant differences between groups (p < 0.05) in final blood glucose level, quality, and quantity of spermatozoa and expression of caspase-3. Our findings clearly highlight the role of Spirulina platensis as an antidiabetes and protective agent for reproducton organs of STZ-induced in diabetic male Wistar rats that improves quality and quantity of sperm cells and reproductive organs.

Abstract

Nutmeg oil contains α-pinene, which can be used as sunscreen. The combination of Tween 80 and PEG 400 can maintain the stability of nutmeg oil microemulsion. This research was a follow-up study that aims to determine the stability of the SPF value and qualitative chemical content of nutmeg seed oil microemulsions (NSM). NSM was made with a nutmeg seed oil concentration of 6.4% and tween 80 and PEG 400 as surfactants and cosurfactants with variations in the ratio of F1 (5: 4), F2 (6: 4), and F3 (7: 4). Nutmeg seed oil and NSM content was analyzed using GC-MS. NSM formula were tested for in vitro SPF value stability by storing NSM in a climatic chamber at 30 °C ± 2 °C with RH 65 % ± 5 % for 4 weeks. The SPF values were calculated every week. GC-MS data were analyzed descriptively and data of SPF value stability were analyzed statistically using one way ANOVA. The GC-MS results of nutmeg seed oil showed 35 components, including significant compounds, namely α-pinene, sabinene, β-phellandrene and also α-terpinolene. GC-MS results of NSM showed those significant compounds were still detected after being formulated in microemulsion. The results of the sunscreen activity test of NSM before storage were 10.31 ± 0.03 (F1); 10.47 ± 0.07 (F2); 10.45 ± 0.03 (F3) and did not show significant change after storage for 4 weeks (p > 0.05). The SPF values of NSM were categorized in maximum activity.

Abstract

The ethanol extract of buas-buas leaves is known to have high antioxidant activity, so it has the potential to be developed as a pharmaceutical preparation in the form of a spray gel. This study aims to determine the physical stability of EEDB spray gel preparations in various concentrations (1%, 2%, and 3%). Evaluation of physical stability was using the temperature cycling test method with six cycles. Physical stability evaluation of the spray gel preparation includes pH, organoleptic, viscosity, homogeneity, spraying pattern, and adhesive dispersion. Based on the study results, the three EEDB spray gel formula concentrations (1%, 2%, and 3%) showed good physical stability.

Abstract

Patchouli oil (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) has potential as an antioxidant and high volatility due to air and light, therefore it needs to be formulated in the form of a microemulsion. This research aims to determine the physical stability and antioxidant microemulsion of patchouli oil with different concentrations of Tween 80 and PEG 400. Microemulsions was prepared with patchouli oil content of 5% along with different concentration of Tween 80: PEG 400 were  F1 (26%: 13%), F2 (13%: 26%) and for F3 (26%: 26%). The patchouli oil microemulsion was tested for physical stability by the cycling test method using a climatic chamber at a temperature of 40 oC ± 2oC and 4 oC ± 2oC  for 6 cycles. Furthermore, the tests include organoleptic, homogeneity, viscosity, pH, and separation. The antioxidant test was carried out using the DPPH method, and the quantitative data on physical stability and antioxidants were analyzed by a t-dependent test. The stability test results showed that F2 and F3 had decreased viscosity after 6 storage cycles (p <0.05). The results of the homogeneity, pH and separation tests did not experience significant differences. The test results of patchouli oil microemulsion antioxidant activity showed no change in antioxidant activity during 6 storage cycles with the mean inhibition percent before and after the cycling test was  73,13 ± 0,38 %.  Patchouli oil microemulsion with tween 80: PEG 400 26%: 13% showed the most stable physical quality and antioxidant properties.Keywords : Microemulsion, Patchouli Oil, Physical Stability, AntioxidantsMinyak nilam (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) berpotensi sebagai antioksidan dan memiliki laju volatilitas tinggi akibat udara dan cahaya sehingga perlu diformulasikan dalam bentuk mikroemulsi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui stabilitas fisik dan antioksidan mikroemulsi minyak nilam dengan variasi konsentrasi tween 80 dan PEG 400. Mikroemulsi dibuat dengan kadar minyak nilam 5% dan variasi konsentrasi campuran tween 80:PEG 400 adalah  untuk F1 (26%:13%) dan F2 (13%:26%) serta untuk F3 (26%:26%). Mikroemulsi minyak nilam diuji stabilitas fisik dengan metode cycling test menggunakan climatic chamber pada suhu 40 oC ± 2oC dan 4 oC ± 2oC selama 6 siklus. Pengujian meliputi organoleptis, homogenitas, viskositas, pH, dan uji pemisahan. Uji antioksidan dilakukan menggunakan metode DPPH. Data kuantitatif dari stabilitas fisik dan antioksidan dianalisis dengan uji t-dependent. Hasil uji stabilitas menunjukkan F2 dan F3 mengalami penurunan viskositas setelah 6 siklus penyimpanan (p < 0,05). Hasil uji homogenitas,pH dan uji pemisahan tidak mengalami perbedaan bermakna. Hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan mikroemulsi minyak nilam menunjukkan tidak terjadi perubahan aktivitas antioksidan selama 6 siklus penyimpanan dengan rerata persen inhibisi sebelum dan sesudah cycling test adalah 73,13 ± 0,38 %. Mikroemulsi minyak nilam F1 dengan tween 80: PEG 400 26%:13% menunjukkan Mutu fisik dan sifat antioksidan yang paling stabil.Kata kunci : Mikroemulsi, Minyak Nilam, Stabilitas Fisik, Antioksidan

Abstract

Physical Stability And Antioxidants Of Nutmeg Oil Microemulsion With A Variation Of Tween 80-PEG 400Nutmeg Oil (Myristica fragrans) contains myristicin which is unstable in storage. However, microemulsion increases the stability of the preparation. Meanwhile, the combination of surfactant tween 80 and PEG 400 is known to improve the stability of the microemulsion. Therefore, this research aims to examine the physical stability and antioxidants of nutmeg oil microemulsion with variations of tween 80 and PEG 400 as surfactants and cosurfactants. The nutmeg oil microemulsion was prepared with a oil concentration of 5% with variations of surfactants and cosurfactants Tween 80 and PEG 400, namely F1 (7: 6), F2 (8: 6), F3 (9: 6), F4 (10: 6). ) and F5 (12: 6). Furthermore, the physical stability test was performed using the cycling test method for 6 cycles at temperatures of 40 ± 2 ºC and 4 ± 2 ºC while the parameters observed included organoleptic and homogeneity, phase separation, droplet size, viscosity, and pH. Meanwhile, the major antioxidant parameter observed was the percentage of inhibition. The physical stability and antioxidant results were analyzed using the t-dependent test to compare the data before and after the cycling test. The results showed that all the microemulsion formulas were clear, pale yellow in color, oily and watery in texture and there was no phase separation after the cycle test was carried out. In addition, the droplet sizes of all formulas were between 33 to 125 nm, while the viscosity ranged from 68 to 73 cps and the pH  is suitable for topical preparations. All physical parameters did not change significantly after the cycling test (p> 0.05), meanwhile, the antioxidant stability test showed that there was no significant difference in percent inhibition (p> 0.05) which ranged from 64 to 68%. Therefore, based on the results, the nutmeg oil microemulsion has strong antioxidant activity.Keywords : Nutmeg oil, microemulsion, physical stability, antioxidantsMinyak biji pala (Myristica fragrans) mengandung miristisin yang tidak stabil dalam peyimpanan. Mikroemulsi dapat meningkatkan stabilitas sediaan. Kombinasi surfaktan tween 80 dan PEG 400 dapat meningkatkan stabilitas mikroemulsi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan formulasi dan uji stabilitas fisik serta antioksidan mikroemulsi minyak biji pala dengan variasi tween 80 dan PEG 400 sebagai surfaktan dan kosurfaktan. Mikroemulsi minyak biji pala dibuat dengan konsentrasi minyak biji pala sebesar 5% dengan variasi surfaktan dan kosurfaktan tween 80 dan PEG 400 yaitu F1 (7:6), F2 (8:6), F3 (9:6), F4 (10:6) dan F5 (12:6). Uji stabilitas dilakukan dengan metode cycling test selama 6 siklus pada suhu 40 ± 2 ºC dan 4 ± 2 ºC. Parameter stabilitas fisik yang diamati meliputi organoleptis dan homogenitas, pemisahan fase, ukuran droplet, viskositas dan pH. Parameter antioksidan yang diamati berupa persentase inhibisi. Data hasil uji stabilitas fisik dan antioksidan dianalisis dengan uji t-dependent untuk membandingkan data sebelum dan setelah cycling test. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa seluruh formula mikroemulsi minyak biji pala jernih, berwarna kuning pucat, tekstur berminyak dan encer serta tidak terjadi pemisahan fase setelah cycling test. Ukuran droplet seluruh formula yaitu 33 – 125 nm. Viskositas pada seluruh formula berada pada rentang 68 hingga 73 cps serta pH sediaan sesuai untuk sediaan topical. Seluruh parameter fisika tidak mengalami peruabahan signifikan setelah cycling test (p > 0,05). Hasil uji stabilitas antioksidan menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan signifikan persen inhibisi (p > 0,05) dengan rentang persen inhibisi pada seluruh formula adalah 64-68% sehingga mikroemulsi minyak biji pala memiliki aktivitas antioksidan kuat. Kata kunci : Minyak biji pala, mikroemulsi, stabilitas fisik, antioksidan

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 menimbulkan sebagian masyarakat kehilangan pekerjaan. Masyarakat membutuhkan suatu solusi kemandirian ekonomi yang dapat dilakukan selama pandemi. Salah satu kebutuhan esensial di masyarakat adalah sabun terutama sabun cuci piring. Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk melakukan pelatihan pembuatan sabun cuci piring untuk peningkatan ekonomi di Desa Mrebuh, Kendal. Metode pelatihan dilakukan secara langsung pada warga dan karangtaruna Desa Mrebuh. Tahapan pengabdian meliputi survey lokasi dan permasalahan dalam masyarakat, persiapan pelatihan, pelaksanaan serta evaluasi. Hasil pelatihan menghasilkan sabun cuci piring sebanyak  sebanyak 100 botol dengan ukuran 250 ml sebanyak 90 botol dan 450 ml sebanyak 10 botol. Masyarakat antusias dan memiliki keinginan untuk melanjutkan produksi sabun cair serta dapat melakukan pengurusan izin PIRT untuk produksi sabun cair cuci piring sebagai produk unggulan Desa MrebuhKata kunci: Sabun cuci piring, pelatihan, peningkatan ekonomi

Abstract

Asam fenofibrat merupakan antihiperlipidemia yang sangat sukar larut dalam air sehingga disolusinya ditingkatkan dengan pembentukan dispersi padat permukaan untuk meningkatkan bioavailabilitasnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui disolusi dan karakter fisikokimia asam fenofibrat dalam sistem dispersi padat permukaan dengan sodium starch glycolate. Dispersi padat permukaan dibuat dengan metode co-evaporation dan hasilnya diuji disolusi dalam medium dapar fosfat pH 6,8. Karakterisasi partikel dilakukan dengan SEM, XRD, DTA dan FTIR. Disolusi asam fenofibrat meningkat setelah berada dalam sistem dispersi padat permukaan dengan sodium starch glycolate. Foto SEM menunjukkan terjadi perubahan habit kristal setelah mengalami rekristalisasi dalam etanol 96%. Analisis XRD membuktikan terjadi penurunan kristalinitas partikel asam fenofibrat dan hasil uji DTA tidak menunjukkan transformasi polimorf dalam sistem dispersi padat permukaan. Sedangkan analisis FTIR menunjukkan tidak terjadi interaksi kimia antara asam fenofibrat dengan sodium starch glycolate.  Kata kunci: asam fenofibrat, sodium starch glycolate, dispersi padat permukaan

Abstract

This paper compares four mathematical models to describe Indonesia's current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The daily confirmed case data are used to develop the four models: Logistic, Richards, SIR, and SEIR. A least-square fitting computes each parameter to the available confirmed cases data. We conducted parameterization and sensitivity experiments by varying the length of the data from 60 until 300 days of transmission. All models are susceptible to the epidemic data. Though the correlations between the models and the data are pretty good (>90%), all models still show a poor performance (RMSE>18%). In this study case, Richards model is superior to other models from the highest projection of the positive cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia. At the same time, others underestimate the outbreak and estimate too early decreasing phase. Richards model predicts that the pandemic remains high for a long time, while others project the pandemic will finish much earlier.

Abstract

Nutmeg oil contains of α-pinene that can be used as sunscreen but it is thermolable. It is necessary to form a microemulsion system for nutmeg oil. This study was to determine in vitro SPF value by and irritation index from nutmeg oil in microemulsion system with Tween 80-ethanol as surfactant and cosurfactant. The system were made with 6.4 % of nutmeg oil and Tween 80-ethanol as with concentrations of 45% (F1), 50% (F2), 55% (F3). The nutmeg oil microemulsion was determined SPF value using spectrophotometer UV. The irritation test was done by the patch test method on rabbit skin with 4 groups of negative control, F1, F2, and F3. The skin was observed at 24, 48 and 72 hours. Quantitative data were analyzed using one way Anova while irritation test data were described descriptively. The results of the sunscreen activity on nutmeg oil microemulsion for F1, F2 and F3 were 8,9 ± 0,12; 9,2 ± 0,51; and 9,3 ± 0,32 (p > 0,05). This SPF value were categorized in maximum protection. The primary irritation index values for F1, F2 and F3 were 0,1±1; 0,3±2,5; 0,1±0; so it can be concluded that microemulsion of nutmeg oil were very mildly irritating.
