Abstract

Literacy is a complex skill possessed by an individual to utilize potential and abilities in processing and understanding information through activities such as reading, writing, speaking, calculating, and problem-solving. With literacy skills, one can apply their knowledge and experiences as references for the future. As responsible citizens, the skills of cultural and citizenship literacy become crucial aspects that must be mastered by elementary school students. This is considering the students' character in discerning and selecting the noble cultural values of the nation as a basis for their attitudes, actions, and behaviors amidst the diversity of society, nation, and state. This research was conducted at SD Lab School FIP UMJ using the SWOT analysis method. The research results indicate that cultural and citizenship literacy has been implemented at SD Lab School FIP UMJ and plays a significant role in enhancing the cultural and citizenship values of students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar pendidikan lingkungan hidup berbasis problem based learning untuk mahasiswa PGSD. Hal  tersebut didasari pada pemahaman dan daya analisa materi yang cukup  rendah pada mahasiswa PGSD UMJ, sehingga diperlukan bahan ajar yang lebih interaktif. Peneliti mengembangkan E-Book sebagai bahan ajar dengan memasukkan materi pendidikan lingkungan hidup dengan isu-isu kontemporer pada saat ini, sehingga mahasiswa dapat memecahkan masalah dalam kehidupan nyata. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan (research and development), dengan menggunakan model pengembangan Rowntree dan dikombinasikan dengan model Martin Tessmer. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu memberikan instrumen penilaian kepada ahli materi, ahli media, ahli bahasa, dan kuesioner kepada mahasiswa. Dalam uji one to-one memperoleh hasil 77% yang termasuk dalam kriteria efektif, small group memperoleh hasil 81% yang termasuk dalam kriteria sangat efektif, dan field test memperoleh hasil 83% yang termasuk kedalam kriteria sangat efektif.  Berdasarkan hasil penilaian dari ketiga ahli dan uji coba lapangan, maka bahan ajar pendidikan lingkungan hidup berbasis problem based learning untuk mahasiswa PGSD dinyatakan sangat valid (86,73%) dan efektif (80,33%) untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran pendidikan lingkungan hidup.

Abstract

Outdoor Learning is a teaching method that involves students learning outside the classroom, utilizing the surrounding environment as a learning resource. This study aims to identify the implementation of outdoor learning through the naturalistic intelligence approach in fifth-grade students at SDN Pondok Cabe Ilir 01. Naturalistic intelligence refers to students' abilities to recognize, classify, and understand natural phenomena and interact with their environment. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Observations of outdoor learning activities conducted by teachers and interviews with students and teachers were used to understand the impact of outdoor learning on the development of students' naturalistic intelligence. The study subjects included 30 fifth-grade students and the teacher conducting the outdoor learning sessions. The results indicate that outdoor learning aligns well with students' naturalistic intelligence, especially in recognizing various types of plants, animals, and other natural phenomena. Activities such as direct observation of nature and group discussions facilitated students' environmental awareness and enhanced their critical thinking and teamwork skills. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that implementing outdoor learning has the potential to improve fifth-grade students' naturalistic intelligence at SDN Pondok Cabe Ilir 01, while also providing a more engaging and meaningful learning experience.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the difficulty students face in understanding the concept of food chains, which is attributed to the conventional teaching methods still in use. Therefore, the researcher believes that the application of a new teaching model is expected to enhance student engagement in the teaching and learning process, ultimately improving learning outcomes. Natural Science is often considered difficult because of its many theories and the lack of variation in teaching methods, leading to poor student performance. Given these issues, an innovative teaching model is necessary. The aim of this study is to examine the impact of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students' knowledge in the Natural Science subject. The research method used is an experimental method with a quasi-experimental design. The study population consists of 50 fifth-grade students, with 25 students in the experimental group and 25 students in the control group. The hypothesis tested is that there is an effect of the Problem-Based Learning model on Natural Science learning outcomes. The results of the study show that the Problem-Based Learning model has a significant effect on students' knowledge. This is evidenced by the t-test results, which show a t-value of 12.400, greater than the t-table value of 2.01. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning model positively affects the understanding of food chain concepts in fifth-grade students. The findings of this study are expected to be beneficial for teachers in improving the quality of their teaching, for students to better understand the material through more engaging methods, and for the school environment in developing innovative and effective teaching practices.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low cognitive abilities of students in science learning in elementary schools, which is largely caused by conventional teaching methods that do not actively involve students. To overcome this problem, the Team Assisted Individually (TAI) learning model is used, which combines a cooperative approach and individual learning to improve the understanding of science concepts more effectively. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the TAI model on the cognitive abilities of fifth-grade students of SD Islam Baitul Salam Ciledug on natural phenomena material. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design and a pretest-posttest control group design technique. The sample consists of two classes, namely the experimental class that uses the TAI model and the control class that uses conventional learning methods. The results of the study show that there is a significant increase in the cognitive learning outcomes of students who participate in learning with the TAI model compared to the conventional method. Therefore, this study is expected to provide an alternative effective learning model for teachers, as well as improve the quality of the process and student learning outcomes, especially in science learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model combined with the Environmental Surroundings Approach (PLAS) on students’ science literacy. The research uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design and a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consists of 61 students, with 30 students in the ekperimental group and 31 students in the control group. Data was collected through science literacy tests and observations. The data analysis using the t-test showed a significance value of 0.001, indicating a positive effect of the combination of PBL and PLAS on students’ science literacy. Thus, it can be concluded that the combination of PBL and PLAS is effective in improving student’s science literacy in school.

Abstract

Era of globalization is making energy as a source of primary needs. The condition of meeting Indonesia's energy needs is still dominated by fossil energy and the use of renewable energy up to now has not been able to go according to plan. Government policies and programs on energy conservation aim to use energy efficiently. These efforts can be done through energy saving equipment and energy saving behavior. This study aims to determine the effect of energy literacy on energy saving behavior. This research was conducted at Peninggilan 02 Public Elementary School in October. The total population of the study was 121 students and the study sample used was 121 students. The method used is quantitative survey. Retrieval of data in this study using a questionnaire. The results of this study obtained an R square value of 0.243 or KD = 0.243 X100% = 24.3%. This can be interpreted that Energy Literacy has an effect of 24.3% on Energy Saving Behavior. While 75.7% is influenced by other variables that influence the energy saving behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of emotional intelligence and positive thinking on elementary students’ critical thinking skills in science learning. The research employed a survey method with a quantitative approach and path analysis, involving 652 students from Grades IV to VI at SD Negeri 17 Tanjungpandan Belitung. Data were collected through a science critical thinking test and validated questionnaires measuring emotional intelligence and positive thinking. The findings show that emotional intelligence has a direct and significant effect on students’ critical thinking skills, while positive thinking serves as a stronger predictor of critical thinking performance. Emotional intelligence also significantly influences positive thinking. In addition, an indirect effect of emotional intelligence on critical thinking was identified through positive thinking as a mediating variable. These results highlight that the development of students’ critical thinking skills requires not only cognitive ability but also emotional readiness and adaptive thinking patterns. Therefore, science learning should integrate strategies that strengthen emotional regulation and promote positive thinking.

Abstract

Lilin aromaterapi merupakan salah satu alternatif produk rumah tangga yang tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai penerangan, tetapi juga sebagai dekorasi serta media relaksasi yang mendukung gaya hidup sehat. Namun, produk ini masih kurang dikenal oleh masyarakat, khususnya di daerah yang jauh dari kota besar, karena harga yang cukup tinggi dan keterbatasan distribusi. Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk mengenalkan lilin aromaterapi berbahan dasar alami sekaligus memberikan keterampilan praktis dalam pengelolaan limbah rumah tangga, khususnya minyak jelantah. Mitra pengabdian dalam kegiatan ini adalah masyarakat sekitar yang memiliki ketertarikan terhadap produk kreatif dan ramah lingkungan. Metode pengabdian dilakukan melalui serangkaian tahapan berupa edukasi, pelatihan langsung pembuatan lilin, serta pendampingan evaluasi produk. Selain menggunakan minyak jelantah sebagai bahan dasar utama, kegiatan ini juga memanfaatkan tanaman rosemary yang dikenal memiliki aroma menenangkan. Proses dilakukan mulai dari pengumpulan bahan, pemilihan material pendukung, pembuatan lilin, hingga uji coba dan analisis hasil produk. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat mampu menghasilkan lilin aromaterapi secara mandiri dengan kualitas yang layak guna dan potensi ekonomi yang menjanjikan. Program ini tidak hanya meningkatkan kesadaran akan pentingnya pengelolaan limbah, tetapi juga mendorong munculnya kreativitas dalam mengembangkan produk ramah lingkungan. Saran dari kegiatan ini adalah perlunya replikasi dan perluasan program ke wilayah lain guna memperluas dampak sosial dan lingkungan dari pengabdian ini.
