Abstract

The presence of modern markets has had an impact on decreasing the turnover of traditional market traders in Karawang Regency. The government responded to this problem by creating a program called Pasar Tertib Ukur to improve the image of traditional markets and increase public visits to shop at traditional markets. One of the implementations of this program occurred at the Johar Karawang Market in 2017.This research aims to find out how communication occurs in the Pasar Tertib Ukur Program at Johar Karawang Market. Then, this research also finds out what changes occurred after the implementation of the Orderly Market Program in that market. Qualitative methods using data collection techniques with interviews, observation and documentation have been carried out in this research. Researchers linked the findings using the Diffusion and Innovation theory and the economic growth development model theory. The research results show that the development communication that occurs lies in the content of the program. The program focuses on guaranteeing measuring and weighing equipment at the Johar Karawang Market and consumer protection. The change that occurred after the program was implemented was an increase in the number of buyers at Johar Karawang Market. The conclusion of this research shows that the Orderly Measurement Market Program has succeeded in bringing about a change in the Johar Karawang Market and increasing its existence so that it is no less competitive with modern markets.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out in Hakatutobu Village, Pomalaa Subdistrict, Kolaka Regency. The program aimed to raise social and environmental awareness among the community through four main activities: Stop Bullying awareness, Ecobrick, elderly health check-ups, and the provision of trash bins. Each program was implemented using a participatory approach, actively involving the community. The results showed an increase in public awareness regarding cleanliness, plastic waste reduction, elderly health improvement, and bullying prevention in schools. This program is expected to continue and provide long-term benefits to the village community

Abstract

YouTube Membership is a monetization feature that not only provides financial benefits for content creators but also facilitates exclusive communication spaces between creators and audiences. Amid the growing trend of digital participation in Indonesia, it is important to examine how users experience and interpret interactions within such digital communities. This study explores how audiences engage in communication through the YouTube Membership feature, focusing on the DEANKT channel. Using Alfred Schutz’s phenomenological approach, it investigates both the "because motives" (past experiences) and "in order to motives" (future expectations) behind users’ decisions to subscribe. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews and participant observation with six long-term members of the DEANKT community. The findings reveal that key motivations include emotional attachment to the creator, access to exclusive content, and the desire for a sense of belonging in a digital community. Concretely, members reported intimate and personalized interactions such as name mentions during live streams, use of visual symbols like badges and emojis, and active participation in closed forums such as Discord. These interactions fostered emotionally fulfilling and participatory communication experiences that also reinforced members’ digital identities. This study underscores that YouTube Membership serves a dual role—not only as a monetization tool but also as a powerful medium for building meaningful and tightly connected digital communities.

Abstract

Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) technology such as Chat GPT have had a major impact on the way students access and manage information in an academic environment. Despite its efficiency benefits, concerns have been raised about the potential reduction of critical thinking skills due to the tendency to rely on instant answers. This study aims to evaluate the extent to which the use of Chat GPT is related to the critical thinking skills of undergraduate students of Communication Studies Program at Singaperbangsa University of Karawang. The quantitative research method was used with the Uses and Effect theory as the foundation, and data was obtained from 126 students through the distribution of questionnaires. Analysis using simple linear regression test resulted in a significance value of 0.001 0.05, so it can be concluded that there is a statistically significant influence between the use of Chat GPT and students' critical thinking skills. The findings show a significant positive relationship between the variables studied, with a significance value of 0.001 (p 0.05) with the results of the calculation of the correlation coefficient of 0.631, it can be concluded that the level of relationship between the two main variables in this study, namely the utilization of Chat GPT and students' critical thinking skills, is included in the strong category.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh akun Instagram @pophariini terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi musik di Indonesia bagi para pengikutnya. Dengan perkembangan teknologi dan media sosial, Instagram menjadi salah satu platform utama untuk memperoleh informasi, termasuk seputar musik. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Uses and Gratification untuk memahami bagaimana pengguna secara aktif memilih media yang memenuhi kebutuhan informasinya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan survei terhadap 100 responden yang dipilih secara acak dari pengikut akun @pophariini. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan dianalisis menggunakan uji regresi linear sederhana serta uji hipotesis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa intensitas penggunaan dan hubungan timbal balik antara media dan pengguna berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi, sementara isi pesan tidak menunjukkan pengaruh yang signifikan. Secara keseluruhan, akun @pophariini berkontribusi sebesar 29,7% dalam memenuhi kebutuhan informasi musik pengikutnya. Temuan ini menegaskan peran media sosial sebagai sumber informasi yang efektif, khususnya bagi penggemar musik di Indonesia. Penelitian ini juga memberikan rekomendasi bagi pengelola akun untuk meningkatkan kualitas konten guna memaksimalkan pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi pengguna

Abstract

Media sosial dapat membantu masyarakat sebagai pemberi peringatan dini, khususnya dalam konteks bencana. Namun di daerah dapat menjadi masalah karena bencana lokal lebih sulit diprediksi dan sering luput dari perhatian media secara nasional. Secara otomatis, media sosial dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif masyarakat dalam mendapatkan informasi bencana di daerah sekitar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengekplorasi fungsi media sosial sebagai pemberi peringatan dini dan membangun budaya mitigasi bencana. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode netnografi, untuk mengkaji penggunaan media sosial pada akun Instagram dan cakupan media lokal yang berfokus pada postingan akun Instagram @infokrw dalam rentang waktu Agustus-Oktober 2024. Sub-fokus dalam penelitian ini adalah melihat pesan dengan memberikan komentar atau menyukai informasi tersebut dan melihat ciri-ciri pesan yang bisa digunakan untuk membangun budaya mitigasi bencana pada lingkup lokal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa akun Instagram @infokrw proses penyampaian pesan terkait mitigasi bencana terbukti memberikan dampak informasi yang dapat difungsikan masyarakat. Salah satunya yakni perolehan informasi seputar kondisi bencana ataupun resiko pasca bencana, sehingga masyarakat bisa melakukan antisipasi dini dari dampak bahaya bencana lanjutan.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the construction of self-identity of female supporters of the Indonesian National Team, especially among female students of FISIP Unsika. Using Alfred Schutz's phenomenological approach, this study examines the motives, meanings, communication experiences, and interactions of female supporters while watching live matches of the Indonesian National Team at the stadium. The results of the study indicate that the self-identity of female supporters is formed through direct experience, social interaction, and the process of constructing meaning that is closely related to their collective and individual experiences as part of the national football supporter community.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi masalah karir menjadi topik yang signifikan untuk dibicarakan di kalangan mahasiswa yang berada di semester akhir. Sejumlah besar mahasiswa yang baru lulus belum memenuhi kriteria pekerjaan, dan salah satu hambatan utama yang mereka hadapi adalah kesulitan diterima bekerja. Kehadiran TikTok sebagai media baru mempermudah pencarian informasi seputar karir. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh konten TikTok Vina Muliana @vmuliana meliputi intensitas, isi pesan dan daya tarik terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan onformasi mahasiswa pasca lulus S1. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Uses and Effect sebagai acuan dalam menjelaskan permasalahan. Sampel Penelitian ini adalah 78 Mahasiswa akhir Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik, Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan survey eksplanatori. Metode analisis data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah uji regresi linear sederhana. Penelitian ini menunjukan hasil bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif masing-masing sub variabel intensitas, isi pesan, dan daya tarik konten TikTok Vina Muliana terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi persiapan karir mahasiswa pasca lulus S1.

Abstract

The purpose of this study aims to describe how Perumdam Tirta Tarum designs a communication strategy in supporting the achievement of SDGs number 6 related to the provision of clean water and sanitation. To describe the process of implementing the SDGs campaign number 6 run by Perumdam Tirta Tarum in an effort to provide access to clean water and sanitation that is decent and sustainable. And to identify factors that support and hinder the implementation of Perumdam Tirta Tarum's communication strategy in achieving SDGs target number 6. This research method uses a qualitative method. Data sources in this study come from two types of data, namely primary data obtained through in-depth interviews and observations. Then secondary data comes from available sources, including PERUMDAM's annual report which contains information about achievements, strategies, and programs related to clean water and sanitation, campaign materials such as brochures, pamphlets, social media content, and official documents and relevant statistics. The results of the study indicate that Perumdam Tirta Tarum's communication strategy in supporting SDGs number 6 is carried out through internal cross-unit coordination, even without formal written documents. Planning is flexible and adaptive, in line with Charles Berger's communication theory. The implementation of communication includes digital media and direct approaches to the community, with regular evaluation through public feedback. Supporting factors for this strategy include rapid response to complaints, an effective social media team, and external policy support. Barriers include limited internet in remote areas and difficulties in conveying technical language to the public. Substantially, this strategy supports the achievement of SDGs 6.1 and 6.b through the principles of adaptive, collaborative, and evaluative communication.)

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada fenomena penggunaan platform media sosial, khususnya TikTok, untuk menyebarkan berbagai konten film, seperti konten trailer film Jawan. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mengkaji dan memahami proses encoding-decoding pada konten trailer film Jawan yang diunggah oleh akun @melindz.zz serta untuk menganalisis pemaknaan yang dihasilkan oleh khalayak terhadap unggahan tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan, yaitu pendekatan kualitatif berdasarkan analisis resepsi dan teori encoding-decoding Stuart Hall. Data primer diperoleh melalui virtual interviews dengan 10 informan penelitian yang dipilih berdasarkan purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konten trailer Jawan di akun TikTok @melindz.zz merupakan adaptasi dari trailer resmi film Jawan yang diunggah oleh kanal YouTube Red Chillies Entertainment. Dari analisis terhadap pemaknaan 10 informan, diketahui bahwa 4 informan termasuk kategori dominant hegemonic position, 2 informan kategori negotiated position, dan 4 informan lainnya berada pada kategori oppositional position. Temuan ini menggambarkan bahwa khalayak memiliki sifat heterogen dan memiliki berbagai cara dalam menafsirkan pesan pada konten-konten di media sosial berdasarkan latar belakang sosial, pengalaman, pendidikan dan pengetahuan, serta referensi populer pada setiap individu.
