Abstract

Background: Learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education at the elementary school level are strongly influenced by the learning models applied by teachers. Teacher-centered instructional practices tend to limit student participation and understanding, thus requiring the use of more interactive learning models, such as cooperative learning. Objective: This study aims to analyze the implementation of cooperative learning models and their effectiveness in improving the learning outcomes of fourth-grade elementary school students in Islamic Religious Education. Method: This research employed a quantitative approach. Data were collected through classroom observations and learning outcome tests. Data analysis was conducted using simple statistical techniques, including calculating mean scores, learning completeness, and learning achievement levels. Results: The findings indicate that applying the cooperative learning model improved students’ learning outcomes. This improvement is reflected in higher average test scores and greater learning completeness among students. Conclusion: The study concludes that cooperative learning models are effective in enhancing students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education at the elementary school level. Contribution: This research provides empirical evidence supporting the effectiveness of cooperative learning as an instructional strategy and offers practical insights for teachers to improve the quality of Islamic Religious Education instruction in elementary schools.

Abstract

Informal learning in community-based education spaces plays a vital role in adolescent development, yet the structure of learning networks within these spaces is often overlooked. This qualitative case study explores learning networks and community dynamics shaping adolescent learning experiences in a community education space in South Tangerang City. Data from interviews, observations, and document analysis reveal that learning occurs through organically formed social networks characterized by key connecting actors, interest-based collaboration, and spontaneous knowledge sharing. Community spaces function as supportive ecosystems that strengthen adolescent agency, creativity, and social capital, complementing formal education and contributing to more adaptive and inclusive non-formal education models.

Abstract

This study examines early smoking initiation among high school students in Bengkulu Province, Indonesia, which ranks second nationally in smoking prevalence. Early smoking often leads to long-term habits, highlighting the need for effective prevention. The research aimed to describe the profile of student smokers and analyze school-based responses in Bengkulu. A mixed-methods sequential explanatory design was used, beginning with quantitative data followed by qualitative exploration. The quantitative phase involved 117 male students in grades X–XI selected purposively, while the qualitative phase included principals, counseling teachers, and male and female student representatives. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively, and qualitative data using Miles and Huberman’s model. Findings showed that 77% of respondents were active smokers, with 72% starting before high school. Encouragingly, 81% expressed a desire to quit. Schools have responded through student regulations, legal education, and routine inspections. The study recommends strengthening the implementation of the Smoke-Free Area Regulation (Perda KTR), including widespread dissemination, classroom signage, and regular anti-smoking campaigns. Local governments are urged to support enforcement by allocating resources and recognizing schools that actively promote smoke-free policies.
