Abstract

Work engagement has become a critical factor in maintaining organizational performance, particularly in the context of unprecedented global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic. This study investigates the key drivers of work engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic and their relevance in the post-pandemic era. Using a cross-sectional design, a structural model was developed based on the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model, incorporating job satisfaction as a moderating variable between organizational-personal factors and work engagement. Data were collected from 1,484 public sector employees in Indonesia and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that organizational-personal factors significantly influence job satisfaction and work engagement. Job satisfaction also moderates the relationship between these factors and work engagement, enhancing its impact. The findings highlight the importance of prioritizing health support, skill development, and work-life balance to boost employee motivation and engagement. This research contributes to understanding the evolving dynamics of work engagement amidst global crises and provides actionable insights for human resource management practices. The study underscores the need for adaptive strategies to maintain employee well-being and productivity in changing work environments.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of assessment in decision-making within guidance and counseling services. Assessment plays a crucial role in providing accurate, objective, and comprehensive data regarding students’ characteristics, needs, and problems. This research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method by analyzing 25 relevant scholarly sources related to assessment, measurement, and counseling services. The findings indicate that measurement serves as the fundamental basis of assessment, which involves systematic processes to obtain quantitative data. The quality of assessment results is highly influenced by the reliability and validity of the instruments used. Reliable instruments ensure consistency, while valid instruments ensure accuracy in measuring intended variables. Furthermore, assessment functions as a basis for diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of guidance and counseling services. The study also reveals that the application of assessment in schools is not yet optimal due to several factors, including limited counselor competence and lack of effective use of instruments. In addition, the integration of technology and the use of both test and non-test instruments have been shown to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of assessment. In conclusion, systematic and well-implemented assessment significantly enhances the quality of decision-making in guidance and counseling services. Therefore, improving counselors’ competencies and optimizing the use of assessment instruments are essential to support more effective counseling practices

Abstract

This study aims to find out what makes a good research tool by looking at other studies that have already been done. This studys main focus is the continued use of instruments that do not satisfy the required validity and dependability standards in educational research, therefore generating incorrect data and jeopardizing the validity of research findings. A literature review strategy was used for this study whereby twenty-five regionally and globally recognized publications connected to research instrument quality were examined. The results indicate that a good research tool has to meet a number of fundamental requirements, including content validity, construct validity, criterion validity, dependability, and a low level of measurement error. Furthermore, the data show that calibrating tools by means of item analysis is a vital stage in guaranteeing the accuracy and dependability of measurement instruments. The study finds that the quality of a research tool is a crucial factor in producing reliable and legitimate research data.

Abstract

This literature study examines the procedures for developing creativity test instruments based on creative thinking indicators in educational assessment. The background of this study is driven by the limited availability of appropriate instruments that can accurately measure students’ creative thinking skills, as most existing assessments still emphasize lower-order thinking. The objective of this study is to analyze systematic procedures in developing valid and reliable creativity test instruments. The method used is a qualitative literature review of various studies on instrument development, particularly those applying Research and Development (R&D) approaches such as 4-D models. The findings show that the development process generally involves several stages, including needs analysis, formulation of test specifications, construction of items based on creative thinking indicators (fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration), expert validation, limited trials, and statistical analysis of validity and reliability. These indicators represent core dimensions of creative thinking that must be integrated into the instrument to ensure comprehensive measurement . The implications of this study highlight that systematic and theory-based procedures are essential to produce high-quality instruments that are valid, reliable, and practical, thereby supporting effective evaluation and fostering students’ creative thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role and variation of test instruments in measuring students’ cognitive domain in the learning evaluation process. Using a literature review method, this study examines various scientific sources related to educational evaluation and cognitive assessment. The findings indicate that the cognitive domain includes thinking skills ranging from lower-order thinking skills (C1: Remembering, C2: Understanding) to higher-order thinking skills (C3: Applying, C4: Analyzing, C5: Evaluating, and C6: Creating) based on Bloom’s Taxonomy. Test instruments such as multiple-choice, essay, true-false, matching, and oral tests possess different characteristics, advantages, and limitations for assessing specific cognitive levels. Objective tests are considered effective for measuring lower-order thinking skills because they offer high reliability and objectivity, whereas essay tests are more appropriate for assessing higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). In addition, the quality of test instruments is influenced by validity, reliability, objectivity, difficulty level, and discrimination index. Therefore, the appropriate and varied use of test instruments is essential to obtain comprehensive and accurate measurements of students’ cognitive abilities and to support effective learning evaluation and instructional decision-making processes.
