Abstract

Numerous educational models have been developed to enhance students' aptitudes in online learning. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the effect of the group investigation inquiry online learning model (GINO) on the metacognitive and creative thinking abilities of students in Senior High Schools (SHS) in Ambon, Indonesia. The method employed a pretest-posttest control group design, with a sample comprising 116 students from Senior High Schools 1, 4, and 12 Ambon. Validity and reliability tests were also conducted to measure metacognitive abilities and creative thinking. Furthermore, the data analysis encompassed descriptive and inferential approaches, employing ANCOVA. The results showed that the GINO learning model effectively enhances the metacognitive abilities and creative thinking of SHS students in Ambon (p=0.000<α=0.05). To foster a distinct online learning environment, the model was subjected to modifications in its learning stages through the integration of the group investigation learning model and inquiry strategies, providing valuable variations in the learning process. This research contributes to showing how varied learning is very important in providing a more interesting learning climate compared to conventional learning carried out by teachers and this learning model can be applied to other concepts in learning.

Abstract

Nerita sp. is a type of gastropod that is commonly consumed by the people of Ambon Island, especially in the villages of Hutumuri and Latuhalat, and has the potential to be an alternative food source. However, its nutritional content has not been studied in detail. This research aims to analyze the proximate content, including moisture, ash, protein, fat, carbohydrates, and fiber, in Nerita maxima and Nerita costata from both locations. The study used a descriptive approach with random sampling techniques from the waters of Hutumuri Beach and Latuhalat Beach. Proximate analysis was conducted in the laboratory using the standard AOAC (Association of Official Analytical Chemists) methods. The analysis results show that at Hutumuri Beach, Nerita costata has a moisture content of 79.24%, ash 1.18%, protein 12.80%, fat 1.79%, carbohydrates 2.16%, and fiber 0.18%. Meanwhile, Nerita maxima has a moisture content of 81.30%, ash 1.10%, protein 13.90%, fat 1.72%, carbohydrates 1.66%, and fiber 0.19%. At Latuhalat Beach, Nerita costata has a moisture content of 76.80%, ash 1.48%, protein 17.02%, fat 2.75%, carbohydrates 1.49%, and fiber 0.20%. Whereas, Nerita maxima has a moisture content of 78.31%, ash 1.44%, protein 15.47%, fat 2.90%, carbohydrates 1.51%, and fiber 0.23%This research shows that Nerita costata and Nerita maxima from the waters of Latuhalat have higher protein and fat content compared to those from Hutumuri. This indicates that the more fertile and rocky water environment of Latuhalat supports better nutritional value, making these two species potential alternative food sources for the community.

Abstract

Abstract. Liline S, Rumahlatu D, Zubaidah S, Salmanu S, Sangur K. 2024. Influence of physicochemical environmental factors on morphometric characteristics of macroalgae from Ambon Island, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 25: 1436-1453. Macroalgae are an essential part of the marine biodiversity of Ambon Island, requiring thorough investigation for conservation and cultivation purposes. Therefore, this study aimed to identify macroalgae and analyze the relationship of environmental physicochemical factors to morphometric characteristics of macroalgae from the coastal waters of Ambon Island, Maluku Province, between June and July 2023. Sampling was performed at four locations, i.e., Hutumuri, Alang, Aer Low, and Suli Villages, followed by laboratory morphometric identification and measurements. The results showed significant variations in the physicochemical environmental factors of the four locations, featuring temperatures ranging from 25.00-30.05°C, pH of 7.00-8.34, salinity of 31.00-32.00, and dissolved oxygen (DO) of 6.00-15.27. Furthermore, the substrate in each location differed, presenting sequentially as sandy coral, coral, sandy coral, and mud sand. 11, 10, 6, and 25 species were found in Hutumuri, Alang, Aer Low, and Suli, respectively. Each species, with distinct morphological characteristics and morphometric sizes, was distributed across the Chlorophyta, Ochrophyta, and Rhodofhyta classes. These observations provided crucial insights into the intricate relationship between environmental factors and morphometric characteristics, including full length, thallus width, and length, as well as holdfast length and width of both same-species and different macroalgae populations in Ambon Island.
