Abstract

Kakap River Estuary plays an essential role in the life organisms, but it is vulnerable to environmental changes and pollution caused by human activities. This study aims to assess the presence of plankton species, their abundance and diversity as aquatic ecological bio-indicators in Kakap River Estuary. Plankton and water samples were taken for three months, with a frequency of one sample per month, viz. in March, April and June 2020 from four sampling stations in Kakap River Estuary, West Kalimantan. A total of 34 species of plankton were observed from all sampling sites, and identified to belong to 18 classes. Chlorophyceae had the highest relative abundance among the phytoplanktons (40.10%), followed by Bacillariophyceae (21.86%) and Cyanophyceae (19.28%). Oscillatoria sp. and Hydrodictyon sp. were the most dominant phytoplankton species. There were 8 classes of zooplankton identified from all sampling stations throughout the research period. Hexanauplia had the highest relative abundance among the zooplanktons (36.56%) followed by Euglenophyceae (24.37%). The plankton diversity index (H ′) values ranged between 2.33 -3.11. The plankton evenness index value ranged from 0.79 to 0.89 which indicates high plankton evenness at all samping stations, and this is supported by a low dominance index value at all stations ranging from 0.06-0.16. Station 1 had high Shannon-Wienner diversity index score, while for station 2, 3, 4, their scores were in the moderate level. Overall. the diversity index of the plankton from all sampling sites indicated that the quality of the water had no pollution to light pollution level.Keywords:PhytoplanktonZooplanktonWater quality

Abstract

The Malay Combtail fish (Belontia hasselti) is one of the dominant fish species in the Ambangah River that has the potential to be cultivated. This study aimed to determine the growth patterns and condition factor of the Malay Combtail fish (Belontia hasselti) in the Ambangah River, West Kalimantan. Fish samples were taken from May to August 2020 monthly. Parameters measured include total length, weight, sex ratio, and water quality. The results showed that the sex ratio between males and females was balanced (1:1.15). The growth pattern is negative allometric, and the population condition factor of the Malay Combtail fish for males, females, and a combination of both are more than one, which means good, and the magnitude is 1.77; 1.91 and 1.85. The water environmental factors namely temperature, brightness, and dissolved oxygen were still suitable for fish life, while the waters pH was in accordance with its natural condition (peat waters).

Abstract

Potensi perikanan budidaya ikan air tawar di desa Sambora, kecamatan Toho, kabupaten Mempawah cukup besar terlebih potensi tersebut didukung dengan adanya Balai Budidaya Ikan Sentral Anjongan yang dapat menopang ketersediaan benih bagi mitra kegiatan PkM ini yaitu pembudidaya ikan air tawar di Desa Sambora. Meskipun potensi budidaya ikan air tawar cukup tinggi, namun ketersediaan pakan belum maksimal dengan harga yang masih cukup tinggi. Terkait dengan permasalahan yang dihadapi kelompok mitra, solusi untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan melakukan introduksi pakan ikan alami. Kegiatan introduksi ini mencakup peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan terkait pengetahuan berbagai jenis pakan alami yang dapat digunakan sebagai pakan tambahan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah terjadi peningkatan informasi yang berkaitan dengan penggunaan pakan alami sebagai substituent pakan buatan, sebesar 81,8%. Kegiatan sosialisasi dan praktik yang disampaikan cukup mudah untuk diterima dan diduplikasi oleh peserta. Hal ini terlihat dari hanya sejumlah 18,1% peserta yang masih belum tertarik untuk menduplikasi kegiatan ini, dengan alasan keterbatasan alat dan bahan (terutama indukan Daphnia). Sementara itu, 27,3% akan mencoba menduplikasi kegiatan ini, namun peserta masih belum percaya diri dengan hasil yang akan didapatkan. Sedangkan 54,6% lainnya akan mencoba menduplikasi kegiatan ini, dengan tingkat percaya diri yang tinggi dan tingkat keberhasilan yang akan diperoleh juga tinggi. Hasil kegiatan dipandang cukup penting oleh mitra dalam menopang kegiatan budidaya yang telah berjalan di desa Sambora

Abstract

ABSTRACTResearch on the population structure and morphometric characteristics of mussel (Corbicula javanica) in the rice field irrigation of Pak Bulu Village, Anjongan Sub-district, Mempawah District was conducted from March to May 2020. This research aims to determine the population structure including density, distribution, and morphometric characters of mussels in the rice field irrigation of Pak Bulu Village, Anjongan Sub-district, Mempawah District. It used a purposive random sampling method in which the research location of selection stations based on differences in the environmental setting. The location of divided into three areas, namely are station I (located near the secondaring forest), area II (closed to the dam and residential areas), and area III (located around the dam). Each station consists of 2 transects with a length of 200 m and within the transect there are 15 quadrate meansuring 1x1 m. Based on the result of the research, the average population density between areas is 43.35 ind/m2 and the range is between 8.61 - 81.85 ind/m2. The distribution of mussels is categorized as clumped. Meanwhile, the morphometric characteristics of mussels of shell length (PC), shell height (TC), shell thickness (TBL), and total weight (BT) show varied sizes between areas. The growth pattern of mussel shells in area I shows a negative allometric growth pattern. Meanwhile, area II and area III show isometric and allometric positive respectively.  Keywords: Mussels, Population Structure, Morphometric Characteristics

Abstract

Sinanodonta woodiana is known as kijing taiwan which is mostly found in the irrigation flow of the village of Sambora Toho District Mempawah Distric. However, its existence is now experiencing a decline. For this reason, management is needed that requires data on morphometric and habitat characteristics. Therefore the purpose of this study was to determine the morphometric characteristics and habitat characteristics of S. woodiana in the irrigation flow of Sambora Village, Toho District, Mempawah Regency. The research method used was Purposive Random Sampling, using three different observation stations, namely station 1 is in the upstream part of the irrigation area close to a waterfall of oil palm plantations and freshwater fish cultivation ponds, station 2 is in an area adjacent to freshwater fish cultivation ponds and settlements, and station 3 is in a downstream area close to factory waste disposal tofu, freshwater fish farming ponds, and oil palm plantations.This research was conducted in March - May 2020 in the irrigation flow of Sambora Village, Toho District, Mempawah Regency. Based on the results of the study, there were 565 individuals of S. woodiana. All characters of mean shell length (PC), shell height (TC), shell thickness (TBL), and total weight (BT) show that the size varies between male and female sex, the female sex is greater than the male sex. The density values ranged from 0.37 to 3.02ind / m2. The density between stations is different and the highest is at station I and the lowest is at station III. Abstract

The Sungai Kunyit Coastal Area has a multipurpose and strategic role in supporting the economic development of the community in the West Kalimantan area.  This research was conducted to analyze the value of the ecological index of meiofauna and water quality in the coastal area of the Kunyit River, Mempawah Regency. Study this expected could give description condition environment in the Turmeric River Coastal Area for utilization and management in a manner sustainable . Study this conducted for 3 months , namely in the month August until October 2022 in the Turmeric River Coastal Area Regency Mempawah with line transect method . Sample taken from three station . Analysis sample carried out in the Laboratory Management Resource waters and carried out a correlation test for knowing connection structure meiofauna community and conditions environment . Based on results study there were 11,787 ind /m³ of meiofauna during research . density ranges from 10-99 ind /m³, index diversity average 2.20, index uniformity >0.6, index dominance 0.14 <1 close to zero. Based on correlation test results is known that there is a relationship between structure meiofauna community and waters conditions.

Abstract

Desa Kumba terletak di Kecamatan Jagoi Babang Kabupaten Bengkayang merupakan salah satu desa di Kalimantan Barat yang berbatasan dengan Sarawak, Malaysia. Desa ini berada di daerah aliran sungai dimana merupakan habitat dari ikan baung. Ikan baung sangat diminati tidak hanya pasar lokal tetapi juga pasar luar negeri. Hasil panen ikan sangat bergantung pada kondisi alam dan belum termanajemen dengan baik karena adanya keterbatasan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dari mitra yaitu Kelompok Nelayan Tepian Kumbayang. Diseminasi budi daya ikan baung dengan teknologi Keramba Jaring Apung yang dikelola dengan pakan alami dari cacing sutra merupakan solusi untuk permasalah yang telah dipaparkan. Pelaksanaan diseminasi ini melalui tahapan orientasi lapangan, perijinan, dan sosialisasi; pelatihan dan pendampingan; serta evaluasi dan monitoring. Kegiatan pengabdian ini berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan 70% peserta tentang budi daya ikan baung dengan KJA dan pakan alami, 15 orang mengerti cara mengelola ikan baung dengan KJA, dan 16 orang mengerti cara membudidayakan cacing sutra untuk pakan ikan.

Abstract

Desa Pematang Tujuh Kecamatan Rasau Jaya Kabupaten Kubu Raya merupakan salah satu sentral produksi biji pinang, dimana biji pinang dapat dibuat menjadi kopi pinang celup. Beberapa kendala yang dihadapi dalam proses produksi kopi celup dari biji pinang yaitu sistem pengupasan secara manual, harga tidak standar, olahan pangan dikemas hanya dengan plastik tanpa label, produksi yang tidak kontinyu karena masa simpan rendah dan kurangnya promosi produk yang menyebabkan rendahnya daya saing. Faktor utama penyebab daya saing yang rendah karena terbatasnya keterampilan dan pengetahuan anggota Gapoktan (Gabungan Kelompok Tani) Nur Bakti dan anggota PKK (Pemberdayaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga) Desa Pematang Tujuh. Metode pelaksanaan melalui tahapan orientasi lapangan, perijinan dan sosialisasi; diseminasi teknologi produksi kopi pinang celup berlabel serta kemasan untuk dikomersialkan oleh mitra; serta evaluasi dan monitoring. Kegiatan pengabdian ini berhasil meningkatkan daya saing komoditi biji pinang melalui peningkatan keterampilan mitra hingga 71% peserta merasa aplikasi teknologi kopi pinang celup sangat mudah, 74% peserta sangat paham kegunaan materi tentang kemasan, dan 77% peserta mengaplikasikan pembuatan kopi pinang untuk konsumsi pribadi maupun untuk acara sosial.
