Abstract

This research aims to determine the increase in mathematical problem-solving abilities through the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with local Kerinci culture. The approach used in this research is quantitative using a pre-experimental type. The design used is called One Group Pretest-Posttest. The essay question test is the instrument used in this research. The data from this study was not normally distributed, so the Wilcoxon test was used for statistical analysis. The Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test findings show a significance level (2-tailed) of 0.000. This shows that there is an improvement between the before and after tests, the test aims to help students improve their mathematical problem-solving abilities through the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model integrated with local Kerinci culture.

Abstract

Mathematics with the nuances of ethnomathematics culture at this time its presence makes a major contribution to the learning of mathematics. This research was conducted to find the elements of mathematics in the building of the grand mosque which is located in Tanjung Pauh Hilir, West Lake Kerinci sub-district, Kerinci district, Jambi province. This study uses a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. The data used are data obtained from observation, documentation and interviews. The results showed that the mathematical concepts in this mosque building contained geometrical materials such as ellipses, rhombuses, circles, semicircles, squares and rectangles while geometrical materials contained such as octagonal prisms, beams and pyramids and also transformations such as reflections. With the existence of ethnomathematics in this building it is hoped that it will be able to improve mathematical abilities, instill local wisdom values and also through observing mosque buildings in being able to explain that cultural elements can be used in learning mathematics.Keywords: Ethnomathematics, Building, Tanjung Pauh Grand Mosque.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa dengan menggabungkan etnomatematika dan tari sekapur sirih dalam pembelajaran transformasi geometri. Penelitian ini melibatkan 30 siswa dan 1 orang guru matematika yang mengajar di kelas X di MAN 1 Kerinci, yang dipilih berdasarkan relevansi materi yang diajarkan, yaitu transformasi geometri. Data dianalisis dengan cara deskriptif, membandingkan hasil pretes dan postes untuk melihat perubahan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Selain itu, hasil observasi dan wawancara digunakan untuk mendukung temuan dari tes dan memberikan gambaran lebih lengkap tentang efektivitas pembelajaran ini. hasil dari penelitian yang di lakukan dengan hanya melakukan 1 siklus, sudah mendapatkan hasil yang baik, ini di buktikan dengan data yang di peroleh selama penelitian dilakukan sehingga tidak perlu melakukan siklus ke 2, karena hasil dari siklus 1 dinyatakan sudah cukup baik karena siswa sudah mendaptkan nilai sesuai dengan kualifikasi nilai kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis. Siswa mendapatkan nilai yang baik di pengaruhi beberapa faktor yaitu, siswa sudah mempelajari terlebih dahulu materi transformasi geometri pada pertemuan sebelumya, siswa mendapatkan penjelasan dengan modul ajar yang di berikan, siswa melakukan latihan soal dari LKPD yang di berikan, dan di dalam LKPD tersebut sudah di cantumkan soal matematika dengan konteks tari sekapur sirih di dalamnya, siswa di perlihatkan gambar tarian sekapur sirih dengan koordinat kartesius sehingga itu mempermudah siswa mengerjakan soal yang di berikan. Penelitian di lakukan berdasarkan data yang sudah di temukan sebelumnya dengan konteks tari sekapur sirih dengan judul “Aktivitas Etnomatematika pada Tari Sekapur Sirih di Kerinci”.

Abstract

Technological advancements in the Industry 4.0 era can be utilized as an innovative tool in the learning process, particularly in mathematics education. One platform that can be integrated into mathematics instruction is Liveworksheet. On this basis, this research was conducted to analyze the increase in students abilities in solving mathematical problems in algebraic material using the Liveworksheet application. Employing an experimental design through a pretest-posttest control group framework, the research involves randomly selected seventh-grade students from MTsN 2 Kerinci. Class VII E (18 students) served as the experimental group, while Class VII D (19 students) functioned as the control group. Given the non-normal data distribution, the Mann-Whitney test was chosen for statistical analysis, with a mathematical problem-solving test as the research instrument. N-Gain outcmes show that the experimental group achieved a higher average improvement (0.43, moderate category) compared to the control group (0.11, low category). The Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.001 < 0.05 confirms a significant disparity between the two groups. These findings prove that there is an increase in mathematical problem solving abilities in algebraic material using the Liveworksheet application. ABSTRAKKemajuan teknologi dalam era industri 4.0 dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sarana inovatif dalam proses pembelajaran, khususnya dalam bidang matematika. Salah satu platform yang mampu diintegrasikan pada pembelajaran matematika yakni Liveworksheet. Atas dasar tersebut, penelitian ini dilakukan guna menganalisis peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah matematika materi Bentuk Aljabar menggunakan aplikasi Liveworksheet. Metode yang dipilih yakni eksperimen melalui desain pretest-posttest control group, melibatkan siswa kelas VII MTsN 2 Kerinci yang dipilih secara acak. Kelas VII E (18 siswa) selaku kelompok eksperimen dan VII D (19 siswa) selaku kelompok kontrol. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes pemecahan masalah matematika, dengan analisis data menerapkan uji Mann-Whitney, hal ini dikarenakan distribusi data tidak normal. Hasil N-Gain memperlihatkan rata-rata peningkatan di kelas eksperimen (0,43, kategori sedang) lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol (0,11, kategori rendah). Nilai Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) senilai 0,001 < 0,05 mengindikasikan perbedaan signifikan antara kedua kelompok. Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika pada materi bentuk aljabar menggunakan aplikasi Liveworksheet.

Abstract

The mathematical content in school mathematics must not be isolated from students known context students so the mathematics learning becomes meaningful. One context that is close to the student environment is a popular cultural context, for example batik crafts. This research aims to explore native batik of Kerinci related to transformation geometry content. The type of research used is ethnography. The instrument used in this research was the researcher himself (human instrument). The data collection techniques used are literature study and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that the motif of native batik of Kerinci contains mathematical concepts in the geometry transformation content, namely reflection, translation, rotation and dilation. These findings can be integrated into mathematics learning through transformation geometry learning tools using the context of native batik of Kerinci.

Abstract

The mathematical component consists of numbers and abstract symbols which often become difficulties for students in understanding a geometric element. This affects the ability of students to work on math problems. Therefore, it is necessary to apply good learning so that students are able to solve problems, especially in mathematics. The purpose of this study was to analyze students' difficulties in working on circle material problems in terms of the visualization aspect and its influence on learning mathematics. The research process was carried out in one of the public schools, namely State Junior High School 6 Sungai Penuh City. Sampling in this study was carried out by means of the Non Probability Sampling technique which is more precisely used by the author namely Purposive Sampling, namely sampling with a certain consideration, with the final result indicating the level of student difficulty and the level of student visualization. The results showed that 5 students had a high visualization level, 8 students had a moderate visualization level, and 9 students had a low visualization level. From the results it was found that the average difficulty factor experienced by students was the ability of students to understand concepts, solve verbal problems, describe sketches/drawings and errors in the algorithm process.
