Abstract

Umbul Asem village is a coastal area has a fairly high potential, especially the farming of green mussels. However, the prospect of green mussel farming which is quite large is still not realized by all fishermen so it is necessary to conduct research to determine the green mussel supply chain and see what opportunities from its business so that it can be developed. This is a descriptive research which is conducted in field and desk research. The results indicate the green mussel supply chain starts from farmers to distributors then to retailers and to end consumers, while supply chain players manage relationships between supply chain from upstream to downstream and vice versa well. Some of the green mussel business opportunities that are visible include selecting the Longline method to minimize costs and increase profits also suitable for high wave waters, farming is simple and does not require special treatment, lots of green mussel seeds are available in the waters, the profit from one longline is around Rp. 691,667, the location is close to PPI Lempasing (3 km in 8 minutes). In addition to developing the green mussel business, it is necessary to conduct a study that is in line with the government's efforts in formulating a strategy for developing the fishing industry in Bandar Lampung.

Abstract

This research builds upon the author's earlier work on the design of a cassava pulling tool. The aim is to develop a non-mechanical or minimally-powered tool that addresses farmer needs. The tool design incorporates Quality Function Deployment (QFD) to ensure user satisfaction. QFD is a method that integrates customer desires into technical requirements during the design phase, prior to production. Data analysis revealed key user desires: lightweight materials, affordability, the ability to pull multiple cassava stems simultaneously, durability, safety, and additional functionalities. House of Quality (HOQ) analysis identified the most crucial attribute (weight of importance: 30%) as the ability to pull multiple stems at once. This finding served as the primary basis for prototype development and technical characteristic definition. Subsequent prototype testing successfully uprooted cassava plants, demonstrating the tool's capability of pulling multiple stems in a single operation.

Abstract

Corn farmers generally maintain corn plants by watering them with fertilizer or pesticides which is usually done with a device available on the market in the form of a tube connected by a hose to a spray stick to spray the solution onto the plants. Standard factory spray equipment on the market is difficult to use, ineffective and also inefficient. The use of a carrying sprayer is less effective in reaching corn plants that are almost the same as an adult's height, and human power still plays a very big role. The aim of this research is to make improvements to the design of spray equipment to correct the shortcomings of existing spray equipment. The French method used in this research is based on the effectiveness of this method in meeting data needs comprehensively when designing new products, it is very flexible and can be adapted to various types of products. This research succeeded in creating a design and prototype for a semi-automatic portable corn sprinkler. The state of the art from this research is that the design of this plant sprayer can be disassembled and installed to suit the size of the land and is very flexible, which is designed to support regional and national government programs for the welfare of corn farmers. The land area that can be watered by the new tool is wider, namely 200 m2 x 4 with a time of 2 hours;  Meanwhile, the tools sold on the market are still manual and can only water an area of 200 m2 x 2 for 4 hours. Abstract

House Tapis Citra (HTC), which produces the typical Lampung sulam usus, faces a problem the form of a sewing machine used has low productivity, only capable of producing 4 meters of product per day, while using a high-speed machine can produce 12 meters per day according to the specifications. The high demand from consumers cannot always be met. If urgent orders are required, they must be ordered from others which will increase production costs by 50%. The purpose of this research is to clearly identify the root causes of low productivity at HTC by analyzing through a fishbone diagram. After the main factors are identified, improvements are made and their effectiveness is measured. With the case study research method using a fishbone analysis tool, it will be able to answer research questions, and the resulting strategies can be made recommendations for further improvement solutions. The research results show that HTC employees' ability to produce output using a new machine is 0.85 meters/hour, while the old machine is only 0.5 meters/hour. The employees' ability to produce output at this time with the new machine is still 57%, and can still be improved to reach the remaining 43% by being given training to produce 12 meters/day to the machine spec. The souvenir production process produces 200 pieces/day with a work productivity of 25 pieces/hour for new machine, while the old machine only produces 100 pieces/day with productivity of 13 pieces/hour. Innovation and technology are able to increase the productivity of HTC. Keywords: Fishbone, HTC, MSMEs, Machine, Productivity, Sulam usus

Abstract

Waluya Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) manages a salted anchovy boiling operation located on Pasaran Island, Bandar Lampung, experiencing a significant decline in production output due to the high level of spoilage in the produced salted anchovies. This research aims to identify the constraints affecting the quality of the resulting Salted Anchovy through the approach of the Statistical Process Control (SPC) method, as well as providing corrective solutions. From the research results, factors were identified that affect the quality of salted anchovies produced by Waluya SMEs, namely: non-standard shape (31%); soft texture (28%); presence of foreign matter (23%); and incorrect sorting (18%). The problem of the non-standard shape of salted anchovies is caused by the careless salting and handling process. The solutions are to use containers that fit the size and type of anchovies and to implement staged salting. The problem of soft texture of salted anchovies is caused by uneven mixing of salt during the salting process. The solutions are to ensure sufficient salting time for the salt to penetrate evenly into the fish and to use appropriately sized containers. The problem of foreign matter in salted anchovies is caused by the traditional drying process. The solutions are to choose a clean drying location free from dust, dirt, and pests; and to use clean and easily cleaned bases. The problem of incorrect sorting of salted anchovies is caused by the manual process. The solutions are to train employee skills and invest in automatic sorting machines for the long term.
