Abstract

Long waiting times for outpatient pharmacy services remain a major challenge in hospital service quality and patient satisfaction. At the Outpatient Pharmacy Installation of RS Prima Pekanbaru, increasing prescription volumes have not been matched by service capacity, leading to delays that exceed national standards. This study aims to evaluate outpatient pharmacy waiting times using Lean Management principles and queueing theory to identify sources of inefficiency and propose improvement strategies. A qualitative research design supported by quantitative queue analysis was applied. Data were collected through observations, document review, and in-depth interviews with 11 informants, including pharmacists, pharmacy supervisors, hospital management, prescription verifiers, and patients. The results showed an average prescription arrival rate of 1.717 prescriptions per hour, while the service rate was only 0.912 prescriptions per hour, indicating an unstable queue system. The average processing time for one prescription reached 1.09 hours, exceeding the 60-minute standard for compounded medications. Major inefficiencies were identified in the form of overproduction, particularly at the packaging stage, overprocessing due to repeated data entry caused by incomplete implementation of electronic prescriptions, and defects related to administrative and service flow errors. These findings indicate that optimizing workflow, strengthening human resources, and fully integrating digital systems are essential to reducing waiting times and improving pharmacy service performance.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the effectiveness of the online patient registration system at Maria Regina Hospital, Kotabumi, North Lampung. A quantitative survey design was employed, with 95 respondents selected via purposive sampling from a population of 1,800 patients. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed through multiple linear regression following conversion to interval scale via the Method of Successive Intervals (MSI). Results indicate that patient digital literacy (X1), hospital technology infrastructure (X2), and system usage guidelines (X3) simultaneously and partially exert a significant effect on the effectiveness of the online registration system (Y). The regression equation is Y = 18.795 + 0.392X1 + 0.384X2 + 0.410X3. The coefficient of determination R² = .681, indicating that 68.1% of the variation in system effectiveness is explained by the three independent variables. The F-test confirms F(3, 91) = 6.511, p < .05, validating the overall model. These findings imply that hospitals must pursue an integrated strategy encompassing digital literacy programs for patients, strengthened technology infrastructure, and improved user guidance to maximize the effectiveness of online registration and enhance the overall quality of healthcare services.

Abstract

Digital transformation has encouraged hospitals to implement Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and training to enhance healthcare workers' performance. This study analyzes the effect of EMR implementation and training on healthcare performance, with work motivation as a mediating variable at RST Tk II Dustira Cimahi. A quantitative survey was conducted with 310 respondents and analyzed using multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and Sobel test. Results indicate that EMR has a positive but not significant effect, while training positively and significantly affects both work motivation and performance. Work motivation significantly mediates the effect of EMR and training on performance. The study emphasizes that EMR effectiveness depends on work motivation and continuous training to optimize healthcare workers’ performance.
