Abstract

Abstract This study investigates the boundaries of freedom of expression on social media from a Christian faith perspective, considering its potential impact on relational dynamics within the Body of Christ, including the emergence of hate speech, the spread of inaccurate information, and the potential for division. This research is relevant given the need to strengthen faith-based literacy among digital generations so they can communicate ethically in digital spaces, recognizing the strategic role of the church, schools, and families in this character-forming process. The research aims to formulate Bible-based ethical principles for expression on social media, particularly drawn from James 3, Ephesians 4:29, and 1 Corinthians 6:12. The method used is qualitative library research, analyzing biblical texts and theological literature through descriptive-analytical and thematic synthesis approaches. The novelty of this study lies in formulating four concrete ethical-theological boundaries for expression in the digital world: Truth (fact-based), Love (respecting the dignity of others), Responsibility (every interaction carries moral consequences), and Purpose (glorifying God and building up fellowship). These findings are expected to serve as a guide for Christians to use social media responsibly, so that digital space can become a constructive medium for faith witness and fellowship strengthening.

Abstract

The participation of young people in discipleship communities has become a crucial challenge for today’s church, as many youths only attend Sunday services without deeper involvement. This study employs a qualitative literature review approach, drawing data from books, journals, online sources, and the Bible, to analyze strategies for increasing youth engagement in discipleship. The findings show that warm relational bridges such as connections areas are important entry points, but strong and healthy discipleship groups are essential for sustaining growth. Small groups of 8–12 members, supported by intentional mentoring and leadership regeneration, create a setting where youths can grow spiritually, experience meaningful fellowship, and be equipped for future service. The study concludes that building relational culture, acceptance, and consistent leadership development are key strategies for churches to form committed young disciples and ensure the continuity of faith across generations. Keywords:  Youth participation, Discipleship, Church strategy

Abstract

This study aims to explore the relevance of female leadership in the contemporary church through a critical reflection on the figure of Esther using a narrative-feminist hermeneutical approach. Contemporary challenges such as gender inequality within church structures, leadership stagnation, and the need for a contextual leadership model drive this research to address the existing research gap studies on Esther have predominantly focused on the aspect of divine providence, not yet on a strategic and transformative female leadership model for the modern church, particularly in the Indonesian context. This research employs a qualitative approach with a literature review method, integrating the analysis of the Book of Esther through the lens of narrative-feminist hermeneutics with contemporary leadership theories (transformational, servant leadership, and feminist leadership theory). The results indicate that Esther's leadership offers a resilient, contextual, and solidarity-based model a leadership paradigm that works within the system while transforming it from within, emphasizing strategic agency, collaboration, and contextual courage. The contribution of this study lies in its hermeneutical enrichment, which opens space for the empowerment of female church leadership through theological legitimacy from the Old Testament narrative. Thus, the contemporary church needs to reflect on Esther's leadership model to face challenges more effectively and inclusively.

Abstract

The generational gap between parents and children in the digital era presents new challenges in the transmission of Christian values. This study was conducted in response to differences in worldview, communication styles, ways of thinking, and levels of digital competence that may weaken the family’s function as the primary context for faith formation. The aim of this research is to formulate strategies to bridge the parent-child generational gap so that the transmission of Christian values remains relevant and effective in the digital age. This study employs a qualitative method through a literature review of reputable academic sources. The findings propose an integrative strategy that includes strengthening relational communication within the family, optimizing and regulating the use of digital media, as well as providing digital literacy training for parents in order to reduce the knowledge and skill gap with their children. Discipleship, parenting training, and pastoral counseling also emerge as essential components that can be implemented complementarily to support the faith formation process within the family. Overall, the study indicates that transmitting Christian values in the digital era requires creative, dialogical, and contextually grounded approaches, while maintaining collaborative partnership between the family and the church. Through such efforts, Christian values can be passed down in a continuous and meaningful manner across generations.

Abstract

Abstract: The focus of this writing is to examine how AI is used in preparing sermons, as there is a perception that using AI in sermon preparation diminishes the influence of the Holy Spirit when the preacher prepares their material. This topic is studied because it is still debated whether AI in homiletics has the potential to shift the central role of the Holy Spirit with technological algorithms. The main research question formulated in this article is: How can we conduct a theological review of the use of AI in sermon preparation? The findings of this study indicate that AI can speed up pastors' work in collecting data, identifying themes, and conducting linguistic analysis of biblical texts. However, the process remained within the framework of Christian theology, which places the pastor as a witness who conveys the word through spiritual experience. Therefore, the authority of preaching does not lie in AI, but in how the church integrates AI within a theological framework that places revelation, exposition, and the work of the Holy Spirit at the centre of the preaching process.

Abstract

Abstract:Evangelising ethnic groups that have long lived within traditional belief systems requires a contextual approach that is aligned with the culture and values of the communities receiving the Gospel. However, the church often faces challenges in preserving the purity of Christian doctrine when new believers remain strongly connected to ancestral traditions. This phenomenon is also evident among Dayak Meratus Christians in Loksado Village. This study aims to provide a conceptual framework for churches in Loksado and other regions with strong ancestral traditions to develop contextual approaches that help believers avoid syncretism without ignoring valuable cultural heritage. Using a qualitative approach through literature-based research, this study identifies a risk of syncretistic tendencies during the process of embracing Christianity among communities previously shaped by traditional belief systems, which may weaken doctrinal purity and spiritual growth. Therefore, the church must place God and His Word above all human cultural expressions and take concrete measures through contextual biblical teaching, exemplary leadership, holistic pastoral care, and continuous discipleship

Abstract

This study examines the principle of equality in the body of Christ based on 2 Corinthians 8:13–15, particularly the idea that “no one has too little and no one has too much.” The issue is significant because socio-economic injustice and inequality remain real challenges for the contemporary church. The purpose of this research is to explore the Christian ethical meaning of the text and its implications for the praxis of today’s church. The method employed is a theological literature review and biblical exegesis with an applied ethics approach. The findings highlight a novelty that Paul’s principle is not merely a charitable teaching, but a paradigm of equity rooted in the love of Christ. This discovery is important as it reaffirms the church’s calling to embody tangible solidarity that fosters equality within the body of Christ and the wider society.

Abstract

Abstract

Prevention of Bullying Through the Support System of Private Elementary Schools. This study examines the relationship between bullying behavior and school support systems, including the application of Christian values, in private elementary schools. Using a mixed methods approach, data were collected from 334 respondents through questionnaires, interviews, and observations in three schools in Bogor and Jakarta. Quantitative results showed weak or non-significant correlations between bullying, support systems, and Christian values. However, qualitative findings revealed that structured support—such as counseling services, teacher involvement, anonymous reporting, and daily spiritual routines—plays a key role in creating a safe environment. The integration of values such as love, justice, and forgiveness through daily school activities strengthens students’ positive character. The study concludes that while measurable statistical impact may be limited, consistent implementation of character-building and faith-based programs contributes significantly to bullying prevention. Continuous monitoring and evaluation are recommended to sustain effective support systems.
