Abstract

Background: Pulmonary Tuberculosis is one of the top ten causes of death worldwide. Case detection rate in East Java ranks eighth in Indonesia, namely 42.922 cases with treatment coverage of 44.7% of the treatment coverage target set at a minimum of 80%. Factors related to success include knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, work, etc. One of the supporting factors related to the success of treatment is the role of the drug swallowing supervisor. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the role of drug swallowing supervisor in the treatment of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Methods: The research design uses correlational, population analytic methods. Respondents used are 41 out of 46 pulmonary tuberculosis sufferers at health center in Surabaya using simple random sampling technique. The independent variable of the study is the role of drug swallowing supervisor and the dependent is the success of the treatment. The instrument use questionnaire and medical records. Results: Data processed using chi square test analysis, value = 0.05. The results showed that almost all of the 41 respondents (87.8%) had supportive drug swallowing supervisor, almost all (78%) the treatment was successful. Based on statistical tests obtained (p = 0.000) which proves that the role of drug swallowing supervisor has a relationship with the success of treatment in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Conclusion: The greater the supporting role, the greater the success rate of pulmonary tuberculosis treatment. It is expected that drug swallowing supervisor can motivate, assist, remind, and participate in socialization activities for handling pulmonary tuberculosis patients.

Abstract

Background: Currently, the trend of patients admitted to the hospital is increasingly complex and has many co-morbidities, some of which the patient's condition will suddenly worsen or become critical, due to various interrelated causes such as weak monitoring systems and staff reactions to emergencies. Delays in treatment or inadequate care for patients who are treated in the Hospital Ward can result in several adverse conditions, namely increased patients transferred to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit), increased LOS (Lenght of Stay) in the hospital, heart attacks, or patient death. Purpose: The purpose of this study to analyze the differences in the modification of the NEWS observation sheet on the emergency conditions of patients at the hospital. Methods: The type of research used is quasi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test control group design. With a population of 160 patients and a total patient sample of 62 patients with 31 patients for the intervention group and 31 patients for the control group. How to take samples with purposive sampling technique. The independent variables in this study were the NEWS observation sheet and the NEWS modification, while the dependent variable was the patient's emergency condition. The instruments in this study were NEWS observation sheets and NEWS modifications, integrated patient development record sheets, pre-test and post-test sheets. Data analysis used Wilcoxon test and Mann Whitney test with a value of α = 0.05. Results: The results showed that the modification of the NEWS (National Early Warning Score) observation sheet with a graphic was more influential than the NEWS observation sheet in increasing vital sign monitoring with p=0.00, while the NEWS observation sheet as a control had an influence with a significant level of p=0.043, both the model shows that it is equally influential in detecting changes in patient conditions and as an aid in communicating with other health workers. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that after being given a modified NEWS observation sheet which is a scoring system that is simple, practical and proven to increase alertness and response to signs of bad physiological changes so that patient safety can be monitored optimally and mortality rates can decrease.

Abstract

Background: Chronic kidney failure requires long-term treatments like hemodialysis, a vital therapy for managing the disease. Patient compliance with fluid restrictions and controlling interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) significantly impacts therapy effectiveness. Health coaching based on social cognitive theory may enhance understanding, motivation, and healthy behaviors in hemodialysis patients. Purpose: This study aims to analyze the impact of health coaching based on social cognitive theory on compliance with fluid intake restrictions, IDWG control, and quality of life in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a pre-post test control group design involved 38 hemodialysis patients selected via simple random sampling. The intervention group received social cognitive theory-based health coaching sessions for four weeks, while the control group received standard care following hospital procedures. Data collection included daily fluid restriction records, IDWG measurements, and a validated quality of life questionnaire, with pre- and post-intervention comparisons. Results: The intervention group demonstrated a significant improvement in compliance with fluid restrictions (p < 0.011), better IDWG control (p < 0.021), and enhanced quality of life (p < 0.001) compared to the control group. Conclusion: Health coaching based on social cognitive theory effectively improves fluid restriction compliance, reduces IDWG, and enhances the quality of life in hemodialysis patients. Integrating this approach into routine hemodialysis care can optimize therapeutic outcomes and significantly benefit patients.

In order to achieve a good quality of life, there must be a role for health workers. Discharge planning in stroke patients is preparing patients for treatment in healing and improving the health status of stroke patients. Purpose: The purpose of the literature review is to find out the importance of discharge planning in stroke patients. Methods: The research stage is to make a selection by paying attention to the year of publication and with full text. Furthermore, articles and journals that are considered less relevant are excluded. Literature was obtained from 10 articles relevant to Google Scholar, Indonesia One Search, DOAJ, and Garuda with the keywords Discharge planning, Quality of life and Stroke. Results: After reviewing the selected articles, it was found that discharge planning has a good impact on increasing family readiness in caring for patients, as well as improving the quality of life of stroke patients, namely being able to increase rehabilitation activities, prevent disease complications and adherence to taking medication and routine control.
