Abstract

Many people experience dental caries, but they delay treatment, such as dental fillings. The general public is not yet motivated to make dental caries fillings. Based on the results of the initial examination conducted by researchers from 15 people who have caries in the bad category 66.6% and 33.3% good category based on interviews, information was obtained from 15 people who have not patched because of fear of illness later. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between community motivation and dental fillings in Lamkunyet Village, Darul Kamal District. This type of research is analytic. The design used is cross sectional. Sampling by random sampling. The research location is Lamkunyet village. The number of respondents is 86 people. The results showed that intrinsic motivation p value = 0.00 (<0.05) means that there is a relationship between community intrinsic motivation regardi ng dental fillings. Extrinsic motivation p value = 0.048 (<0.05) means that there is a relationship between extrinsic motivation and dental fillings in Lamkunyet village, Darul Kamal District. It was concluded that there was a relationship between community intrinsic motivation and dental fillings in Lamkunyet village, Darul Kamal sub-district. There is a relationship between extrinsic motivation and dental fillings in Lamkunyet village, Darul Kamal Subdistrict, it is suggested to people who have never done or have done patches in order to increase their motivation to do carious dental fillings to sustain further damage.

Abstract

Children with special needs are special characteristics that are different without always showing mental, emotional or physical disabilities. Teachers are the best promoters of educational activities because they are familiar with the methods of educating and motivating school students. Based on the initial examination of the dental and oral hygiene of students at SLB Bukesra Ulee Kareng Banda Aceh, the results obtained were from 10 children examined; it was known that 6 children had moderate criteria with an average of 2.3, and 4 of them had poor criteria with an average of 4.1. This research is analytic with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study were all teachers and students as subjects. Determination of the sample in the study using a saturated sample technique are 20 teachers and 43 students. The research was carried out at the Bukesra Special School Ulee Kareng Banda Aceh on May 24, 2021. The instruments used in this study were questionnaire sheets, diagnostic sets, and OHI-S KSP sheets. The results showed that the teacher's role as a motivator and educator was not good enough to show poor oral and dental hygiene experienced by 8 respondents (61.5%). Statistical test results obtained, p. Value 0.01. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between motivators and educators regarding the dental and oral hygiene of children with special needs. It is hoped that the teacher will further improve in motivating students towards a better direction and carry out good education and in accordance with the child's condition, in explaining the maintenance of dental and oral hygiene.

Abstract

Persistence is a deciduous tooth that has not yet fallen out in time so that the fixed tooth begins to erupt, then the fixed tooth will look for the direction of the decidui tooth that has been removed, if the decidui tooth is not removed it will cause the tooth to cram and malocclusions in the replacement tooth, in the growth of the child's teeth requires the attention and knowledge of parents about the growth period of the child's teeth. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between parents' knowledge about the growth period of children's teeth with the occurrence of persistence in grade I and II students at SDN 71 Mibo, Banda Aceh City. This research method is analytical with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique is the Total Population, which is 36 students and their parents. This research was conducted from 02 to 09 February 2022. The results of the study with the chi-square statistical test, namely there is a significant relationship between maternal knowledge about the growth period of children's teeth and the occurrence of persistence in grade I and II students at SDN 71 Mibo Banda Aceh City with p-value = 0.006 (p<0.05). It can be concluded that there is a relationship between parents' knowledge about the growth period of children's teeth and the occurrence of persistence in grade I and II students at SDN 71 Mibo, Banda Aceh City. It is recommended to parents increase their knowledge about dental persistence through counselling carried out by health workers and so on, to parents of students whose children experience persistence so that tooth extraction is immediately carried out.
