Abstract

Introduction: Stroke is a major cause of death and disability in Indonesia, leaving many survivors with long-term self-care challenges. Wearable technologies using digital health technology offer potential support. However, the adoption of technology is hindered by usability, accessibility, and cultural barriers. This study explores user-driven feature requirements to inform inclusive and effective digital self-care solutions for stroke survivors Methods: This explorative qualitative study with a phenomenological approach involved in-depth interviews with 19 stroke survivors conducted between May and August 2024 in Yogyakarta and Bandung. Participants were selected using purposive and snowball sampling and analyzed using thematic analysis. Ethical approval was obtained from the Universitas Aisyiyah Yogyakarta Ethics Committee (No. 3832/KEP-UNISA/VII/2024), and all participants provided informed consent. Results: A total of 19 stroke survivors (mostly male and aged 45–60) participated in this study, with the majority having lived with stroke for over five years. Two overarching themes emerged. The first, Managing Health and Daily Life, reflected the need for features that assist stroke survivor to navigate their self-care practices. The second, Navigating Technology with Limitations, highlighted emotional and socio-cultural barriers that hinder technology adoption and sustained use among stroke survivors. These findings suggest that effective wearable solutions must integrate practical health management functions with user-centered design, addressing cognitive, emotional, and contextual barriers to long-term use, with implications for inclusive design guidelines and grassroots-based technology policies. Conclusion: This study gives an understanding of user-centered perspectives in digital health technology by highlighting the practical and emotional aspects of technology use. Future research should incorporate caregiver and healthcare provider perspectives and evaluate prototypes in real-world settings to strengthen inclusive innovation and sustainable adoption.

Abstract

In inpatient services, the patient's bed is usually limited by a curtain or partition to maintain patient safety. At the time of data collection, obstacles or obstacles were considered as a result of effectiveness and validation of medical device sensor data. This study aims to explain the results of testing the reliability of Bluetooth and internet on CovWatch hardware and applications. This research is an action research; used comparisons using devices (tools) with different specifications. Testing internet and Bluetooth connectivity from the CovWatch unit and applications installed on the Samsung A01, Redmi Note 10 and Oppo A57 devices, the results were mixed. Measurement of the range of connectivity is carried out using a barrier (Selected Semi PVC, Multiplex, Kalsiboard) and without a barrier. The results of this experiment show that the CovWatch Hardware and Samsung A01 are considered the best at obtaining vital sign data, while the Redmi Note 10 and OPPO A57 are not good because some data cannot be obtained so they do not appear on the monitor unit. This test identifies obstructions and optimal distances that can be used to provide data quickly, adopting innovative, flexible and integrated care delivery models to ensure optimal continuity and access.

Abstract

This study aims to uncover factors that indicate employees' acceptability of wearable devices. The study utilizes the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). It expands on Davis's framework by including six extra variables to gain thorough insights: social influence, technological anxiety, trust, perceived risk, perceived physical condition, and resistance to change. After the literature review, a close-ended questionnaire is created to implement the research. Fourty one Ship-to-Shore (STS) crane operators at PT Terminal Teluk Lamong participated in a five-month survey using wearable devices for work. The model's components are analyzed using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis in a terminal crane operator environment. Structural equation modeling (SEM) is used to confirm the model. The research results show a strong connection between the independent and dependent variables, revealing the complex dynamics that impact the attitudes and intentions of high-risk workers. While other connections were not statistically significant, the study highlights the crucial influence of social characteristics on user attitudes toward technology adoption. This study expands TAM and provides practical guidance for introducing wearable devices to STS crane operators to improve technology acceptance in high-risk industries.

Abstract

The research aimed to investigate the influence of digital technology on the precision, dependability, and ubiquity of baby weight measurements on a global scale. This encompassed a variety of studies assessing the accuracy of hospital registers and self-reported data, obstacles and facilitators associated with weighing at delivery, the correlation between ultrasonography estimated foetal weight and birth weight, and the impact of quality improvement efforts on birth weight data. Additionally, indirectly related studies were considered, examining gestational weight gain, physical activity during pregnancy, infant anthropometry, and infant feeding practices. The findings indicate that while there remain challenges such as access to precise instruments and sufficient healthcare personnel, digital technology advancements, including digital health interventions, mobile-based solutions, and digital electrocardiograms, have significantly contributed to improving birth weight data accuracy and low birth weight prevalence. Furthermore, these advancements have also positively impacted other related aspects, such as gestational weight gain and community-based malnutrition screening, which indirectly influence newborn weight and overall infant and child well-being. Overall, despite existing challenges and areas requiring further research, digital technology advancements have significantly improved baby weight measurements' precision, reliability, and ubiquity worldwide, contributing to better neonatal and pediatric healthcare.
